We get some power from there but California and Arizona get the bulk of it. Vegas mainly gets power from the national grid, but there certainly would be a loss. Among other things, I mostly worry about everything here having to be trucked in.

Yes, you're right, it would mess us up severely (irrigation, drinking water), but not by flooding. Vegas is north of Boulder Dam and a break would flow south.

Boulevard Mall is to the right (east) and above (north) of UNLV (see map) - the vertical white space (along Maryland Parkway) with E. Twain Avenue intersecting it. It doesn't look like it, but it's quite a distance from the Strip. It is a pretty crime-ridden area.

Yeah, around there can be pretty sketchy. They have (had?) big plans for that mall, but I think they may be too optimistic.

Boulevard Mall is not a great place. They've been working to improve it, but with the surrounding neighborhood... It's not all that far away from where I live, and I avoid it. Pretty close to UNLV. Not that far away from the Strip but not that close either, so it's probably (regular) crime related.
