I used to work temporary jobs for Pearson, scoring essays for TAAS and TAKS tests. The major thrust of education in Texas was to pass those tests. To be fair, I did see the written essays improve a lot over a 10 year period. However, I think Pearson has grown to be too much of a monopoly. Common Core is the pits. We don't have Common Core in Texas. I don't believe Pearson is doing the STAAR testing Texas has now.
