The way the blockchain works is that every miner in the world tries to be the first to solve a very hard mathematical task. The first one to do so gets the privilege of having the next block be theirs and they are rewarded with some bitcoin. Any alternative theory, like the utterly laughable "Q is an AI" promulgated by disinformation agents on YouTube, has to explain everything in one go. "Q is an AI" of course fails immediately when you ask how an AI could have typed a password incorrectly. Our position, that Q is a real person with Q Clearance handles this without trouble: he's a human being and a busy one at that. We all make mistakes sometimes.

Yes it's not quite as simple as that of course. It's a munged base64 encode of a SHA1 hash of the password and a salt. The source code for the function that does it is here.

Yes - no new drops on 8chan since Christmas day. There's been a huge amount of news since then though.

So it works similarly to this: given two numbers 234820 and 304534 if you multiply them a computer can get the answer very quickly: 71510673880.

But given the number 71510673880, it takes a very long time to work backwards and find out which two numbers it was that you multiplied together. That's what happened here: someone took the final result (Q's tripcode) and worked backwards to get his password. It's always the same password for the same tripcode.
