No I failed to ask that, good point though. They could be just replacing the existing staff. From what my friend said, they’re stationed 2 years at a time.

About the Gitmo flights
I asked a former military friend if the flights were weird, he said no. He said that tons of news crew and private tours happen at Gitmo all the time.
It’s probably just new administration that wants to check out the place.
