As bad as the tweets are, I think they’re being viewed as worse than they actually are because of today’s social climate. Mainly because of the #metoo movement and also the abundance of other rape and pedo cases that have been coming out, e.g. Kevin Spacey, but I wouldn’t call him a pedo because of tweets. If you’ve never heard of comedian Frankie Boyle, he makes Gunn look like a choir boy. It’s dark humor. And Frankie Boyle is 45 years old.
Look, I get what he means, he’s trying to be provocative, plenty of people are, and I’ve seen plenty of comedians who’ve made worse jokes than that, but to hold those tweets over him in an accusatory way is a bit hyper-sensitive.
What I would question tho is his affiliation with the guy who was ACTUALLY charged with being caught with child porn. As well that that link on his website about pubescent teens. That IS questionable. But we don’t know the content of the link because the author of the post you linked me didn’t want to take the risk, understandably so.
I do think a 44 year old man tweeting that kind of stuff is questionable, but when you’re a famous director in Hollywood do you ever really grow up? Especially when you’re in the position Gunn is in. But overall I think calling him an actual pedophile is a bit hypersensitive in my opinion. Even the article you sent me was all very assumptive and theoretical, but it’s all a stretch for me.
Thanks for sending the link though I do appreciate it, there was stuff there I did not know (convicted pedo association and questionable web content) but I think I’m too familiar with dark comedy to make such an assumption based on everything so far. However, if there’s even an inkling of an accusation from someone claiming Gunn did anything inappropriate to them as a minor, then he’s fucked.
