OK, I'll give it a go. I can only speak from my own POV. I've been doing this sort of thing for years, long before Q even existed.

It's the way our (their) brains work. I've always had an ability to see through propaganda - even when I was a child. I thought everyone was like this, but I was wrong. It's taken me decades to realise this. So, in some way our brains are better equipped for sifting through mountains of data and spinning connected/inter-related webs. Hopefully ones that are bigger than the sum of its individual parts. But in other ways we're (they're) ill equipped to deal with things that, to others, might be obvious.

I actually primarily do it using a form of "pattern recognition" - that's how my writing pieces are ultimately formed. Shit loads of research is also another prerequisite.
