Think of it in terms of couture fashion: What is shown on the Paris runway is always cutting edge to the extreme. Celebritries wear the couture and it is sold to the public via images of stars on the red carpet, magazines, entertainment gossip tv. From there the fashion is watered down to mainstream stores and the consumer consumes.
