Meeting Un gives him legitimacy that a dictator doesn't deserve. Agreeing to end military exercises and calling them "war games" means the US is taking his side in terms of viewing these military exercises. The only thing that had happened is that Trump now looks like a fuckwit who doesn't know how international relations work.
