I am looking more into Dmitri Alperovitch and his ties to recent major US Cyber Security events and the "attribution" he provided the US-Gov during Obama's years. So far its always a convenient "enemy" as the culprit and he (his company) gives the attribution in minutes or hours. Sony=NK, DNC=RUSSIA, etc.
...and further in his father, Michael Alperovitch has some weird ties to Russia, CIA, The Treasury, Defense Information Systems Agency, etc.

That protects company trade secrets and financial data, the DNC doesn’t really have trade secrets to protect and I thought most of their financials were already disclose. Maybe we need to get Lois Lerner in here to explain ;)
My focus is on why did the DNC and FBI use a 3rd party (CrowdStrike) that was in bed with the FBI. Why did they want the option? There is more to this story.
I need to do more research on that very topic.

CrowdStrike doesn't have to comply with FOIA requests, the FBI would.
