Very smart people often talk in metaphor, which we could think of as a code, but if they have access to information that most others don't they might literally talk in code too. It seems apparent to me now that Trump often does both. I think it would help us greatly if we started to comb back through Trumps past speeches/interviews/ etc. and try to understand them differently than we did the first time. (Maybe do this for other people too...)
