Only time the church got favorable view was Simon's Quest (The recovery mechanic) and Aria of Sorrow (the Church cleaning their shit up long enough to work with moon people to seal Castlevania in the sun). All other times it's shown as broken (burning medicine women), useless (not being able to defend cities against Dracula's armies), or flat-out corrupted (Ecclesia to a limit, Shaft. Not to mention the Belnades/Fernandez family by and large are outcasts the church only called on because they were constantly getting their shit pushed in. That's Charlotte, Sypha, and the hot blond all at once. Not to mention the fact the Belmonts were repeatedly excommunicated everytime a cardinal or bishop got full of themselves).

The games don't have the church clean their acts for real until Portrait of Ruin, where Charlotte's technically an outcast from the church working with Jonathan, and Aria where they swallow crow and help the moon miko and Buckaroo Belmont put the demon fortress inside the eclipse.
