I've noticed something.

Let S = (2d-1) + d^2 + e + 2d(n-1) + n^2-1

and let D = (D+N)^2.

 

The difference between S and D is the same for the correct record as it is for the initial record

The same rings true for (x+n)^2 and (n^2-1 + 2d(n-1) + f)

 

And the differences between the values are the same as well.
