It makes absolutely no sense to me, to take still images and convert them into a very enormous MP4 video file, which users are going to convert back into still images.

Why not animated GIF?

That's easy. And the filesize is small.

Is the problem that you want transitions and fades & wipes & stuff like that, so user can capture a unique image each time?
