I think for now our role/assignment/duty is more spiritual than anything, and also a well-deserved break to take care of ourselves. The great war of ideas has been fought. The survivors of the bloody battlefield rest and treat thier wounds, praying and sharing jokes while the smoke clears and the chips fall where they may. Either we helped save the country and won the war and will be historic heros, or we put up a fight to be proud of but will be POWs soon. It's out of our hands.
Time will tell, and history is written by the victors.
Any military history buffs that can explain about how battles long ago were decided? Am I wrong, or wasn't it often unclear which side actually 'won', until each side counted their dead soldiers and the leaders of the two sides discussed the results and agreed on terms?
