You will never get to the end of your backlog.
NEVER!
What'cha reading, btw?

"Nande koko ni sensei ga" doesn't fail to surprise. The premise is the same for every arc, but each has a different setting, almost like completely different world rules. I like it, keep things fresh.
Now we are in harem romcom territoty, with over-the-top science to guide it all.
Hagure Idol Jigokuhen is some of the most glorious boner fuel I've ever seen.
It's about a tanned /fit/ beauty who wants to be a singer but doesn't realize she's terrible at it, so when she tries to enter the degenerate world of entertainment she's suckered into all kinds of risky lewd work.
Aw damn son, Isekai Ojisan just updated. I thought it had been dropped.
>guy gets isekai'd and lives in another world for 17 years, then comes back and now has to live with his teenage cousin
>he kept all the magical powers he got, but all he cares about are his outdated videogames (he's a sega maniac, and is evastated to know that sega pulled out of the console market) and making money as a youtuber
>That alternate world looks like a fantasy anime, everyone is beautiful and he looks horrendous by comparison
>people distrusted him and used to think he was an orc or something
>he had a beautiful tsundere elf going after him, but since he's from before the concept of tsunderes became popular, he thinks she disliked him
Shit's funny yo. I wish it was an anime.
>Do You Think Someone Like You Could Defeat the Demon Lord?
New manga (4 chapters) and it's pretty damn metal.
<Chapter 1 synopsis
>Female companion of the hero, has weird special skill no one knows what it does, all her stats are 0
>Gets betrayed and sold into slavery, slaver doesn't manage to sell her
>Picks up a cursed sword as slaver is about to dispose of her and finds out that her 'Inversion' skill makes cursed equipment have the opposite effect
>Murders slaver and escapes with another qt slave girl
I figured this is a good place to ask since my problem is caused by wanting to read manga in maximum comfy fashion.
How do I deal with retarded screen setups and making wallpapers work on w7? I don't want to use any programs, read that using a big ass image in tile mode is only solution but even 4k x 4k isn't enough.
LN is starting out pretty promising, good suggestions.
My only fear is that it'll be similar to 'Redo of a healer' except with less revenge raping because it feels like the MC in this doesn't carry enough hate over the mistreatment she suffered. I don't want any spoilers but I also don't want to read a story with an MC that gets kicked around but never returns the favor either.
Recently caught up on a bunch of manga.
Hinamatsuri - I feel like this has just been continually depressing after the timeskip. The Hitomi chapters are still usually pretty good though.
Golden Kamuy - they're finally out of russia, and the main gang is reunited Still great, but they keep introducing new characters and I feel like there's no end in sight.
Kaguya-Sama - Nice to see the characters progress their relationships. Mangadex is missing like 30 chapters though which made reading it weird.
Hitoribocchi - I don't know why but this shit makes me want to cry with how heartwarming it is. Cute as always.
Silver Spoon - Finally finished, although there last few chapters aren't fully English translated. The pacing really sped up after the first year, but it was great finally getting closure on a series i've loved over the years. If you enjoy wholesome agricultural related or pastoral manga, this a great read, and you can learn a lot about Japanese agricultural life from it.
>OmaeGotoki LN
Damn these extras are pretty wild.
>On a familiar riverbank, a man is having sex with a duck while a young boy watches. The man has his gut slashed open, the wound probably self-inflicted from the bloodstained axe beside him.
>He holds his vaginal gash open as the duck plunges its head inside him, over and over again with a rhythmic piston-like movement.
>Beside them the little boy is watching and clapping with glee, probably the man’s son. He’s probably so excited for his turn he can hardly wait.
>Dr. Mordrid.
Adventures of an omnidisciplinary scientist with a focus on archeology, called on to solve supernatural mysteries and often winds up exterminating horrors across the old west with various gadgets and hidden weapons. Also has no qualms about killing people who wrong him. Translation gets pretty bad about typos as it continues though. You'd think people would properly read their script before inserting it, but no. Guess that shouldn't be expected of tumblr scanlators.
I need more "weird west" sort of manga. This was enjoyable but practically "OVA miniseries" tier, and Wild Arms: Flower Thieves sadly got shitcanned only two volumes in.
Well, maybe more of "researcher" than scientist, though he seems to have more than a few degrees, even if archaeology is his specialty. I'd suspect he builds his own devices too, because how the fuck do you seriously sell anyone else on designing shit like a literal handgun?
Thanks for the ideas, I'll have to give some of them a look. Probably doesn't help that it's a niche within a niche. Still mad about Flower Thieves up there. Everything was going nicely and then it just ceases, either because the publisher no longer wanted to keep it, or Sony was only willing to fund a shorter series than it was meant to be, leaving it a decent beginning that sadly wastes everyone's time. Mangaka didn't even make any further manga after that, and after his work on Wild Arms 3, ACF, and 4, Ooba seemed to vanish.
What's with japs and their extremely unoriginal naming conventions? If I see another goddamn wolf called Fenrir I'll instantly drop what I'm reading. There's also like ~20 'noble sounding' names (usually German) that keep getting reused in everything.
Everything doesn't have to be named after some god, sure maybe they're obscure names for the Japanese but at this point they've been used in so much that the novelty must have worn off even if you're not familiar with old western folklore/religion.
To borrow names like that isn't the problem, it's that everyone is doing it and they're (for the most part) not even trying to dig deeper and use something that's not already been used by fucking everyone.
I guess just making up names based on nothing that phonetically sound okay is a bit much to ask since they're used to their moonrunes but just fucking put "old german family names" into a search engine or dig a bit deeper into a religion instead of barely scratching the surface and grabbing the most recognizable name out of the bunch.
>The use of well-known names has a reason: There's automatic associations drawn in the readers.
I think doing so can have some value but at a certain point it just feels lazy and unoriginal.
>First time: Oh cool they borrowed the name of the norse wolf (demi?)god Fenrir, that's neat
>Second time: Wait I've seen this reference before, well old mythology is cool so I don't mind
>Third time: Fenrir again? I guess they really wanted to emphasize its relative power vs other wolves..
>Fiftieths time: HAHA YEAH I GET IT, BECAUSE IT'S LIKE REALLY STRONG AND AWESOME RIGHT? I FEEL LIKE I'VE READ THIS SOMEWHERE BEFORE
>They're, to a certain point, stock characters, same as tsundere. It makes establishing a feel for the character quick and easy.
Oh, so you agree with me then, it's just laziness. There's a famous quote regarding story writing, "show, don't tell.". Having a character fit neatly into a pre-established archetype and making it apparent right upfront is basically putting the character on autopilot and also making the reader just go with their preconception of said archetype instead of having them form and develop their opinion of the character over time.
I have an interest in writing and of course it's not an easy thing to do but taking these dumb shortcuts just screams a lack of passion/care.
It can be really hard to find that balance of a creating character that feels 'original' but also like a genuine living being and not like some 14 year old's OC special snowflake. But if you're not even going to try, how much do you really care about this story you're trying to tell me? I guess my point is that there's a time for clichés (they're clichés for a reason) and there's a time for some creative characterization, going full in on either one is the wrong way.
"Show, don't tell" is modern literary theory and, like most modern things, fairly gay. People have quite entertainingly told for millennia, it's mostly a question of using mood-establishing words to tell, like ancient bards used to do. See the Epic of Gilgamesh, or the first page or so of the Tower of the Elephant for something more recent. The viking sagas are also great examples for this, or the chanson de geste. Only at some point modernity came along and people lost the patience for some good long description.
Roman comedy made great use of stock characters, so did the Commedia dell'arte, and, much more recently, the great pulp writers. If you read Howard or Lovecraft, you're gonna find plenty of these. The former two would use stock characters for every part, only concentrating on the execution, what adventure will these characters have this time. The pulp writers mostly had stock characters as side characters to just let them crack on with the story, and that's more or less what I see in most Japanese media.
I was more of your opinion before I read the book in the picture above, which makes a fairly good case of the whole modern Japanese media being something like a shared multiverse, with different stories being different viewpoints of more or less the same thing. That then reminded me of the western stuff I mentioned above It's fairly interesting, if you ever have the time, it might not change your opinion, but it'll give you a new point of view anyway.
I'd post a pdf, but I don't have one.
To be fair to the likes of Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e, as I've been reading it lately, the in-universe creators of the god beasts specifically codenamed them after whatever western mythological creature they seemed to most resemble, be it in bodily constitution or the way their powers worked. The setting being a blatantly western-style country as well (essentially 1800s America), it doesn't feel tremendously egregious, and doesn't just stick to Norse either. But the world itself is still analogous to Earth and not explicitly Earth, so unless the only real difference history-wise to this point is countries being named differently, it is a bit odd they'd have the same myths to draw on as Earth has had.
No mention of Fenrir thus far up through what I've read though, in favor of Garm and Gleipnir.
Actually, looking into it more, Gleipnir is the ‘’bond’’ holding Fenrir rather than a creature in its own right, but the character in question still hasn’t been directly addressed by Fenrir as of yet (his codename instead referring to him having the rare ability to actually revert back to human form).
Are the Konosuba LN's good? The manga translation is progressing awfully slow.
Already watched the animu and chapter 29 of manga, should I skip some parts of the LN which don't add anything new, what's a good starting point?
Also any of the spin-offs where the LN's are preferably? Finished the Megumin Anthology manga and I also see that the 'Bakuen wo!' is fully translated whilst its continuation is still a WIP.
>The manga translation is progressing awfully slow.
It isn't progressing anywhere since it was dropped due to the mango being licensed.
The official translation has covered all 10 current volumes of the mango, but nobody seems to give enough of a shit about the mango to scan it beyond the 6 volumes already available.
I don't think so? All the porn I can find of amano is NTR though. So that's pretty sad.
Here's Nekoguchi's twitter if anyone is interested in his likings.
https://twitter.com/nekomega
I find itneresting following author's twitter feeds, they often direct me to other authors and artists I usually end up liking. Pic related.
>What's that sempai? You didn't get any chocolate for valentine's day? Well lookie here, I have a box of delicious handmade choco, if you're a good enough boy I might-
Shut up Niggatoro, if you don't want me to tie you up and insert each and every piece of chocolate in that box in your vagina before raping you and then making you dringk all the melted chocolate and cum that leaks from there after, you better zip it.
Actually, come here for a second...
I finished Opus, Satoshi Kon's last manga before he switched to exclusively anime. It was alright. I don't care much for postmodernism, though. Perfect Blue was almost too much for me, but Opus goes over the line a little. The specific meta-narrative of "man and manga" is one of the least interesting takes I've seen of "creator and creation meet." I am glad he went onto anime and left manga behind.
Rest in Peace.
Is tragedy just a meme genre?
Started reading 'Fumetsu no Anata e' ('Your Immortal Self' or whatever, has like 3 English titles) and after the first few character deaths I just stopped caring.
I can't really grow attached to characters when they'll just be around for a handful of chapters and I know with 80% certainty that some terrible fate awaits them just to pull at the reader's heartstrings.
Got to chapter 52 because the art is nice and the story is interesting but I realized that I stopped caring about any of the new characters 40 chapters ago and the MC still doesn't have much of a characterization. I realize that him growing is part of the story which was fine for a while but he just feels so flimsy and I kind of stopped caring for him along the way.
I'm going to vent my frustrations here every time I come across another Fenrir.
Also I think referencing religious believes and myths is fine, it's just that some specific ones are overdone. I'm more forgiving if it fits the theme they're going for rather than just being thrown into a 'generic' fantasy setting.
Some madlad just uploaded the entirety of the remaining chapters of Koi wa Ameagari no You ni.
Now we can all rage about it AGAIN well, not really, it's still a great story, even if it baits you in with romance but gives you a story about not giving up on your dreams in the end
>Kowloon Generic Romance
This isn't generic at all, and it's actually a low-key sci-fi.
MC worksa as a real state agent in future Hong Kong, Kowloon, she has a cowerker that is a little pushy taking her along with him to lunch, always to the same place, and constantly teasing her.
Sci-fi setting isn't prominent at all, and serves as a background to all the weird stuff that hapens later on. And I really mean later on, things only start getting interesting on chapter 8, so bear with it.
What's sci-fi about it? Apparently there's an "Earth Restoration" project going on, and we get little to no details about it. Only that Kowloon has been scheduled for demolition for years, and is basically a high-end slum (as high end as slums can be). Then comes the interesting part that really hooks you in (actual spoilers ahead)
MC suddenly realizes she has no memories of her past, like she didn't notice before
She finds out she used to be engaged to the guy she works with, but can't remember their relationship
That guy seems to remember it all, apparently, but he never brought it up, and it seems like he's been trying to help her regain her memories
>Isekai de Skill wo Kaitai shitara Cheat na Yome ga Zoushoku Shimashita: Gainen Kousa no Structure
When an entire bus of people are summoned to another world, Souma Nagi doesn't go along with the idea of being a Hero like the rest. Thus he leaves the palace and starts his life in another world with his ability to restructure skills. Based off the Light Novel by the same name
>Elio the Fugitive
Medieval Spain is a shitty place full of shitty people who love killing. Luckily our MC has won his freedom from the toughest prison in the land after beating up 1000 opponents so he'll probably be ok. Gives me Berserk vibes although unlike Berserk there are no fantastical/magic elements (at least so far). Also unlike Berserk, the story advances at breakneck fucking speed with characters often dying before you barely meet them.
Plot? Whatever just have fun haha lots of beheading
>villaincreep
Do you mean the revolving doors of new villains that when dealt with, another one instantly pops up?
It does get a bit tiresome with the underlings of the underling of the underling etc. and having a more iconic main antagonist working in the shadows might have made things tidier and more focused.
But it's something I can overlook when it does so many other things right.
>Ore Wa Lolicon Ja Nai!
Teacher finds out one of his students has sent her future adult consciousness twelve years back in time in order to seduce him and stop him from marrying a different classmate.
Not many chapters yet but loli service aside, after reading through the author's other work, Mujaki no Rakuen, I'm expecting some heavy existential feelsbombs eventually.
I'm a sucker for dumb isekai schlock but I can't stand these beta MC's in echi manga that have girls throwing themselves at them but can't even look at their bodies and even attempts to flee if sexual context is so much as implied.
I present you with 4 options:
>1. Draw regular shounen/seinen stuff with no lewds
>2. Draw shounen/seinen stuff with fanservice but not very focused on echi content
>3. Draw echi smut bordering on hentai but that is still technically not
>4. Draw full on hentai
Don't give me this half baked teasing shit between 2 and 3 with an MC that probably doesn't even have the balls to get it up, if it ever came to that.
Pretty sure it's more to do with the audience than the author's intent, although I guess it does in a way. It must bring in readers otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it but they don't want the M.C to fuck for a few reasons:
1: Story progresses too fast since for some reason relationships don't exist but probably because of reason 2,
2:They know a lot of the readers are young or losers who relate to the M.C so think they'll relate more if they don't get into relationships.
3:The girls need to stay "pure" so the readers can self insert otherwise they're sluts.
>1: Story progresses too fast since for some reason relationships don't exist but probably because of reason 2,
This is what I most likely think is the case, combined with the author not wanting to or being unable to write relationships/romance other than accidental teasing and misunderstanding comedy. Also this does the opposite of making the story progress too fast, character interactions get put on permanent hold and never develop.
>2:They know a lot of the readers are young or losers who relate to the M.C so think they'll relate more if they don't get into relationships.
Then keep it at fanservice level without having them get close in such a way. Show some pantsu or whatever but don't have the characters chase after each other. Konosuba keeps this balance fairly well.
>3:The girls need to stay "pure" so the readers can self insert otherwise they're sluts.
That's pretty retarded, just have a female MC with no romantic interests or shoujo ai. It's only bad if they cuck the male MC and by just teasing but not doing anything more they're in my opinion cucking both the reader and MC.
I don't really need any sort of romance in my manga but if you're going to have the MC and some women be mutually affectionate just continue down the route instead of parking it at lustful stares and accidental exposure.
>haha I got isekai'd
>haha me and my buddy got isekai'd
>haha me and my school friends got isekai'd
>haha my entire class got isekai'd
>haha a busload of people got isekaid
WHERE DOES IT STOP?
>haha all of Japan got isekai'd
>haha Asia got isekai'd
>haha everyone on Earth got isekai'd
>haha Earth and the ayylmaos on Mars got isekaid
>Soukyuu no Ariadne
Boy who is living energon weapon from da wars gets to escort generic princess from floatcity so she can tour all the furry degenerate ground scum on a whim or something. Fights are crap with winning through the power of extra extra extra effort and "i killed them but not really they're only knocked out because I am so badass".
The chapter in Cowtits village was pretty fun though.
>Hengoku no Schwester
>“Iron Maiden” is an instrument of torture modelled after Mother Mary's form. The interior is full of long nails, and people who are enclosed in it would be pierced to death. But the “Iron Maiden” that exists nowadays is simply a counterfeit made by us based off of old tales. The “maiden” who possesses a gentle, loving face as well as a violent “body”... Did the “Iron Maiden” really exist in the past?
I've seen twiiterniggers getting very triggered over this.
>guy turns into girl because goddess wills it
>not interested in other guy
>god curses them to fall in love with each other because reasons
>author: i'm railroading this plotline XD
Shit. Even >>952237 wasn't as gay as this.
>Silver Plan to Redo From JK
Evil rich cunt who lost everything and dies beaten to death as a homeless old hag. She then gets to restart life in highschool at the peak of her thot powers. She strives to be a good person this time around and help her family avoid the coming disaster but whenever she acts earnestly people assume she is just being even more of a manipulative bitch than before.
That already exists, its called I swear I won't bother you again. It even has the fantasy kingdom element of other shoujo isekai except the main character isn't reincarnated, she just gets sent back a year (I think it was a year) because she repented and genuinely felt bad for her actions in the future.
>Nukenai Seiken-chan
The tale of Tatara Ravenheart, the blacksmith who travels through the land with the imperial holy sword Excelia trying to find a way to remove her pedestal (pantsu).
Along the way he desires to learn how to create an imperial blade, he does so by providing maintenance (smut) to other swords he meets along the way.
tldr; Would you a sword?
You forgot the best part
>MC had this hot gyaru sempai that wanted to take his V-card
>they got interupted before sex because of some family problems on her part (lol gyaru has family issues, who would have thought)
>He then becomes a teacher, enrols in gyaru school
>some gyaru takes a liking to him
>well, they all do, but the femMC/romantic interest is
>wait for it
>she's his ex-almost gf's LITTLE SISTER
Speaking of him, I recently saw an upload of a Japanese volume 3 of Chichi Chichi that had about five additional chapters that hadn't been brought into English yet to my knowledge. Anyone know if the guy(s) that had been doing the translations previously are apt to return? Seems the last time it got an English release was a year or so back.
Once again, how fucking hard is it for people to proofread their translations? Or properly blank the bubbles as in that second page?
>went to other world
>that convince me
>Instead of being an improvement in my career, it would be something very negative for her.
Who the fuck is this "her"? Is he treating his resume as something female, like a sailor treats his boat?
Hopefully we get to figure out the secret to why everyone wants the chainsawman. This manga is stretching longer than Fire Punch but it is not to the point where it is needlessly dragging along yet for me.
I'm trying to find a manga and I forgot what it is called. The main character is a sentai hero dating the daughter of the first chapters supervillain and he destroys the supervillain's house.
Also what is the best way to download manga or what thread is already talking about it?
Sentouin Hakenshimasu, by the author of Konosuba. Dude works for a evil organization gets sent to a fantasy world along with a robo-loli to prep it for corporate takeover. He gets "mischief points" for doing mischievous deeds that he can use to teleport things to him, such as weapons, gear, basically anything.
Purple Eyes in the Dark.
It's a shoujo which features rape as a plot device, tits, and someone losing a hand in the very first chapter. There's no way it isn't amazing.
The scanlator calls it "horror" but I'm not so sure about that, I've only ever been "horrified" at STALKER and either way this doesn't seem particularly scary. It's certainly a very unique series and has been fun so far, it's worth reading in general and specially worth reading as a change of pace from Isekai With A Twist #8198.
The artist can't convey a scene to save her life though, and me being autistic doesn't help. I have to squint real hard to figure out what's going on at times. It also annoys me immensely that the manga talks about color but it's black and white.
The gyaru bubble is bursting and it's just awful. I always knew that it was an unstable investment but gyaru is literally the best drug out there for me and the supply is dwindling fast.
Gyaru is gold and if you don't want to get your ass kicked you'll learn to love them real quick.
>Ore no Genjitsu wa Ren'ai Game?? ka to Omottara Inochigake no Game datta
Dude wakes up thinking he's stuck in a dating sim game but it turns out to be more murder mystery. To escape the game before time runs out and he dies IRL he has to solve a multitude of random missions involving hot crazy bitches by savescumming his ass off. Very fun noir with lots of weird shit.
What's something with lots of rape?
So far >>953646 has a rape density of a rape attempt every 4 chapters, and that's just the protagonist girl. It's a pretty good amount, but as I'm unmotivated I need something else to see if the motivation comes back.
Pretty sure its over at least as far as the core idea of the story is concerned if not officially, since the original author died more than 10 years ago.
Fun related fact, this series was one of the main inspirations behind Berserk, take that as you will.
I did not know that.
When the anime was on it was pretty much the first time I had enough interest to look for anime on a streaming site and seek out something that wasn't showing on adult swim.
If the manga actually arrives at a conclusion I guess I'll check it out. I was always interested in the light novels but only the first handfull got translated to english.
Read through 67% Inertia. Pretty damn funny, but fuck if it doesn't have some bad typesetting throughout. First main group's work shits the bed every time there's connected bubbles (especially when there's three bubbles which have widely varying positioning), and the second group's fonts aren't exactly "manga" worthy, and the sizes/width often don't feel right. Getting increasingly convinced decent typesetting is a skill most people doing so for scanlation don't care to put the research into first. Or at least, that seems to keep being the trend most of with whatever's current that I wind up reading these days.
It's the third time I post about this and I'm sure nobody picked it up anyway but don't fucking read this shit, I will never forgive this manga. ABSOLUTELY TO NOT READ THIS.
DO NOT READ THIS MANGA
I'm so fucking angry right now.
A guy who also transforms into a panther shows up and he wants to have the protagonist girl so he can keep their species as they call it going. Obviously her boyfriend and childhood friend gets in the way of his plans, and the girl loves the boyfriend.
The plot goes on fine with her trying to keep the panther guy from killing the childhood friend she loves, until the panther guy kidnaps her and suddenly it's like they're friends with the fact he kidnapped her and wants to kill her love is more or less background fluff.
When she escapes the werepanther guy and she only escapes him because he let her, she doesn't want to let her childhood friend and lover in on the panther stuff he was already caught up in from the start anymore.
Then there's some identity shit where she jumps off a building to decide if she's a human or a panther, she transforms into a panther mid fall and survives so she decides she's a panther. She runs to the panther guy's apartment, naked because she's always naked after transforming as her clothes fall off. They celebrate with wine and the panther guy drugs and """"rapes"""" her.
She gets pregnant and the panther guy fucking dies. Then her childhood friend and boyfriend finds out she's having a NTR baby.
The childhood friend and boyfriend decides he'll marry her and raise his wife's daughter
AS IF THAT WASN'T BAD ENOUGH, IT GETS WORSE. IT GETS WORSE /a?nimu/ YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IT!
She has the baby, and the baby is kidnapped. BUT GUESS WHAT?
INSTEAD OF SENDING HER CUCK HUSBAND TO GET HIS WIFE'S DAUGHTER
SHE'S BEDRIDDEN BECAUSE SHE'S DYING SO SHE TELLS HIM TO "STAY WITH HER" INSTEAD OF TELLING HIM TO CHASE THE CUCKOO'S EGG
AND BECAUSE THEY JUST MARRIED AND DIDN'T ACTUALLY HAVE A HONEY MOON
SHE TELLS HIM "MAKE ME YOUR BRIDE"
WHAT A FUCKING DISGUSTING WHORE I HATE THIS MANGA SO GOD DAMN MUCH. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT SO GOD DAMN MUCH I HATE IT!!!
Mostly speculation between the author nuking his social media accounts and the editors allowed it to keep getting published after it went off the rails.
A lot of mango gets pretty much free reign to do whatever once they get the axe notice, and some tend not to use the remaining chapters for the intended minimal story closure.
