After 8chan was deplatformed, when we were coming back on 8kun, Jim W. said he recommended VPN, so we got a paid VPN and have used it ever since.
Just seems common sense.
Obviously will not hide your IP from anybody who really expends resources to find out (like nation-states who monitor 100% of all traffic on all links), but does hide your traffic from your ISP, and conceals your IP from websites you visit.
