It is the Rochester Beacon that is explaining at this holiday season how "Jingle Bells" is a very popular Christmas season tune.

"It's the first song to have been broadcast from space—by Gemini 6 astronauts nine days before Christmas in 1965. It’s regularly been sung at the White House—most recently by President Barack Obama and his family upon lighting the National Christmas Tree in 2016," the publication report.

But it's now censored by Brighton's Council Rock Primary School, the Beacon said, because it has the potential to be "controversial or offensive."

That's according to Principal Matt Tappon, who responded to the publication's inquiry by email.

"Tappon and other staff confirmed by email that the decision to remove the song was based in part on information in a 2017 article written by professor Kyna Hamill, director of Boston University’s Core Curriculum. Hamill’s article is a deep dive (nearly 12,000 words including appendices and footnotes) into the origin of 'Jingle Bells,' the life of its composer, James L. Pierpont, and the popularity of sleigh songs in the mid-1800s. She found documents showing that the song’s first public performance may have occurred in 1857 at a Boston minstrel show. Minstrelsy was a then-popular form of entertainment in which white actors performed in blackface," the report said.

Interviewed by the Beacon, Hamill said, "I am actually quite shocked the school would remove the song from the repertoire. … I, in no way, recommended that it stopped being sung by children. My article tried to tell the story of the first performance of the song, I do not connect this to the popular Christmas tradition of singing the song now."

Beacon writer Peter Lovenheim explained, "When I shared Hamill’s response with Council Rock staff, Allison Rioux, Brighton Central School District assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, offered a different reason for removing 'Jingle Bells.'"

She claimed, "Some suggest that the use of collars on slaves with bells to send an alert that they were running away is connected to the origin of the song Jingle Bells. While we are not taking a stance to whether that is true or not, we do feel strongly that this line of thinking is not in agreement with our district beliefs to value all cultures and experiences of our students."

Lovenheim explained that bells on horses were common as far back as Roman times but Hammill's paper didn't address any issue of "slave bells," and she, in fact, confirmed there is no connection between "slave bells" and the song.

Lovenheim wrote, "In today’s world, with culture wars too often raging and school children and parents increasingly caught in the middle, it’s often difficult to determine whether a given decision is just politically correct or actually wise. And certainly, within the scope of trying to reform the curriculum of a school district comprising four buildings, hundreds of professional and support staff, and thousands of students to be more diverse and inclusive, the removal of one song is a small matter. "

The columnist explained the radical treatment of the song appeared on the school's website in a section on "diversity and equity," which left unclear exactly why it was being trashed.

Lovenheim said school officials wouldn't discuss the decision about the song.

"If they had spoken with me, I’d have liked to better understand the decision-making process about removing the song and to learn what 'contemporary and relevant' songs have replaced it."

Happy Christmas, Anons, from UK Bread. This is an attempt at a decode of Q post 1456.

As you may know, maybe not, the UK Bread never stopped its digs on all of the London pics drops. Excluding the Black Box junction box pic at a bus stand on Victoria Street, we have dated all the London pics to Christmas time 2013. The LISAMI6 pic we dated to actually Christmas Day +/- 1 day using markers and open source pics of Christmas Day to find a match for the building office lights pattern on the MILLBANK Building in the background. For Piccadilly Circus we see small decorative Christmas trees, a 70% off Christmas sale sign in the window of the COOL BRITANNIA store and an LG2 advert barely seen which dates, from the phone’s debut ad campaign begun in October of 2013. The Red Bus pic from up the street from Piccadilly on Coventry Street has a new bus sign that was changed we think also by the end of October 2013. Above that red bus is a fastener of the type used to suspend Christmas lights over Coventry Street. Then we have the WINTER WONDERLAND pics which we have also dated to the layout used in 2013. The layout of WW changes each year so it was not difficult to orient one’s self facing the Wilde Maus coaster with the Double Decker carousel to the left and see the Observation Wheel in the background.

Which brings me to my attempt at a decode. Of the Q post showing Wilde Maus in the background.

In 2 places, Q mentions time: 1) the POTUS tweet referred to as a ‘time GUDE’, and 2) the London event in December as a ‘time FRAME’. I decided to try and use the time guide to find out what ‘time’ is would be within that 31-day time frame of December.

I came up with 25.3 which would be Christmas Day.

ROME (AP) — Pope Francis prayed Saturday for an end to the coronavirus pandemic, using his Christmas Day address to urge health care for all, vaccines for the poor and for dialogue to prevail in resolving the world’s conflicts.

Amid a record-setting rise in COVID-19 cases in Italy this week, only a few thousand people flocked to a rain-soaked St. Peter’s Square for Francis’ annual “Urbi et Orbi” ("To the city and the world") Christmas address. UK Bread here again. Since it’s Christmas, I have a fun London pic dig to share. Been saving this one. It’s never been shared with QR so it’s a Christmas gift of sorts for you lot. You must know we have left no stone unturned in trying to date the London pics. This one was unsuccessful in one way but maybe successful in another way. This one was an attempt to come to a reasonable guess as to which bright star might be the one that was bright enough to be seen over the Wilde Maus Coaster at Winter Wonderland and to try and use historical night sky simulations to determine what approximate time it was during a range of Christmas Week. (Any attempt to date pic was immediately abandoned when it was determined by the compass bearing we were dealing with circumpolar stars- which are seen circling the North Pole each and every day of the year).

Another anon who is very resourceful obtained the engineering plan/diagram for WW 2013 and we were able to guestimate a bearing to this star seen above the coaster. See pic. I got on the NightSky sim at Timeanddate.com and was looking for some bright stars at betw 308-312 degrees from sunset until the 10pm park closure for WW. And, I found something! There is a famous asterism of 3 stars called the Summer Triangle that is in that quadrant of the night sky for that timeframe. Now if you may have doubts get this- this asterism, or group of stars is comprised of the brightest stars from 3 different constellations. The stars are DENEB, VEGA and ALTAIR. Altair was eliminated ad it failed to reach the target bearing before dipping below the horizon.

VEGA was able to make it to the target bearing around 8pm but at an altitude of only 17 degrees. DENEB did the best, arriving at our best guess of 308-312 degrees with an altitude/elevation of 28-30 degrees. Consider that from the horizon to a position directly overhead we have an angle of 90 degrees. The star over WildeMaus being near 30 degrees elevation is about 1/3 of the way up from the horizon. This star is a pretty good candidate. The timeframe for DENEB appearing between 308-312 degrees from samples that Christmas week is from about 9:150 to 9:30ish pm.
