On Friday, the NYPD was forced to step in and restore order after a crowd of hysterical civilians stormed a city-sponsored truck in Brooklyn as health officials passed out free Covid-19 test kits amid fears of the common-cold-like Omicron variant that has been spreading across the state.
The larger-than-expected crowd packed themselves around the bus holding their hands out in hopes of receiving a test kit, but things quickly spiraled out of control.
Workers had just 2,000 rapid test kits to give away – so, naturally, the crowd began shouting and pushing forward as the number of freebies began dwindling down.
Eventually, after workers inside the truck called 911 to report the hostile situation, two NYPD officers rush over and clear the crowd away from the bus to restore order.
What a way to spend Christmas eve.

Since Omicron emerged last month, the Empire State has predictably seen a rise in cases, topping out at 38,835 on Thursday alone.
In response, outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio has opened over 100 city testing facilities and deployed several mobile testing units, but this has apparently not been enough to satisfy the demand of people who are clamoring to find out whether or not they have contracted the new variant.
Frustrated New Yorkers have still had to wait in hideously long lines, deal with inconsistent availability, and there have even been complaints of price gouging, according to the New York Post.
The Brooklyn truck was one of five locations that were set up on Friday to hand out the free test kits. None of the other locations had any reported incidents, just long lines with people waiting as much as 4 hours to receive a kit.
Miserable… but when you replace religion with secularism, and worship at the altar of scientism, this is what you get.
That’s socialism folks.

It is the Rochester Beacon that is explaining at this holiday season how "Jingle Bells" is a very popular Christmas season tune.
"It's the first song to have been broadcast from space—by Gemini 6 astronauts nine days before Christmas in 1965. It’s regularly been sung at the White House—most recently by President Barack Obama and his family upon lighting the National Christmas Tree in 2016," the publication report.
But it's now censored by Brighton's Council Rock Primary School, the Beacon said, because it has the potential to be "controversial or offensive."
That's according to Principal Matt Tappon, who responded to the publication's inquiry by email.
"Tappon and other staff confirmed by email that the decision to remove the song was based in part on information in a 2017 article written by professor Kyna Hamill, director of Boston University’s Core Curriculum. Hamill’s article is a deep dive (nearly 12,000 words including appendices and footnotes) into the origin of 'Jingle Bells,' the life of its composer, James L. Pierpont, and the popularity of sleigh songs in the mid-1800s. She found documents showing that the song’s first public performance may have occurred in 1857 at a Boston minstrel show. Minstrelsy was a then-popular form of entertainment in which white actors performed in blackface," the report said.
Interviewed by the Beacon, Hamill said, "I am actually quite shocked the school would remove the song from the repertoire. … I, in no way, recommended that it stopped being sung by children. My article tried to tell the story of the first performance of the song, I do not connect this to the popular Christmas tradition of singing the song now."
Beacon writer Peter Lovenheim explained, "When I shared Hamill’s response with Council Rock staff, Allison Rioux, Brighton Central School District assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, offered a different reason for removing 'Jingle Bells.'"
She claimed, "Some suggest that the use of collars on slaves with bells to send an alert that they were running away is connected to the origin of the song Jingle Bells. While we are not taking a stance to whether that is true or not, we do feel strongly that this line of thinking is not in agreement with our district beliefs to value all cultures and experiences of our students."
Lovenheim explained that bells on horses were common as far back as Roman times but Hammill's paper didn't address any issue of "slave bells," and she, in fact, confirmed there is no connection between "slave bells" and the song.
Lovenheim wrote, "In today’s world, with culture wars too often raging and school children and parents increasingly caught in the middle, it’s often difficult to determine whether a given decision is just politically correct or actually wise. And certainly, within the scope of trying to reform the curriculum of a school district comprising four buildings, hundreds of professional and support staff, and thousands of students to be more diverse and inclusive, the removal of one song is a small matter. "
The columnist explained the radical treatment of the song appeared on the school's website in a section on "diversity and equity," which left unclear exactly why it was being trashed.
Lovenheim said school officials wouldn't discuss the decision about the song.
"If they had spoken with me, I’d have liked to better understand the decision-making process about removing the song and to learn what 'contemporary and relevant' songs have replaced it."

STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY

The Administration opposes enactment of H.R. 5546 because it (a) would establish a major new childhood vaccine compensation entitlement program without adequate data to show that such a drastic and potentially costly step is necessary, (b) is likely to do little to assure the vaccine supply or to improve our childhood immunization efforts, and (c) would restructure, in a disruptive way, well-running mechanisms for vaccine research and administration of immunization programs.
H.R. 5546 would impose an excise tax on childhood vaccines in order to finance the compensation trust fund. The Administration strongly opposes the imposition of any new tax, or any increases in existing taxes, and therefore finds the proposed excise tax in this bill unacceptable.

(RNS) — An updated edition of the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible includes thousands of changes in language, reflecting the research of a wide range of scholars who spent four years reviewing its contents as well as taking into consideration “modern sensibilities.”
A verse in the New Testament Book of Galatians that previously referred to the sons of Abraham as “one by a slave woman and the other by a free woman” will instead read “one by an enslaved woman and the other by a free woman.”
The second chapter of the Gospel of Matthew will tell of“magi”rather than “wise men” coming to Jerusalem after Jesus’ birth.
A reference to “sin offering” in the Hebrew Bible’s Book of Leviticus has been updated to the more precise “purification offering.”
The New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition Bible is the result of a commission of the Society of Biblical Literature by the National Council of Churches, which includes dozens of denominations representing 30 million church members. Representatives of both organizations joined in a presentation Tuesday (Nov. 16), as NCC subsidiary Friendship Press released to publishers the newest rendition of the translation, which was first published as the New Revised Standard Version in 1989.
“It is both ecumenical and interfaith, suitable in Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and Jewish contexts,” John Kutsko, SBL’s executive director, told the dozens attending the event via Zoom. “In a period of social and political divisiveness, it’s a virtue to be celebrated.”
A 36-page sampler details relatively few of the some 12,000 substantive changes — out of a total of more than 20,000 revisions — made for the new edition, which scholars made clear was not a new translation. Some of the updated wording is based on what Kutsko called “new compelling textual evidence,” including findings in the Dead Sea Scrolls that were located in the Qumran region of the West Bank.
For example, more than 25 words are added to a reference to David in 1 Kings, which now reads, “‘Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any of the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, nor did I choose anyone to be a ruler over my people Israel. But I have chosen Jerusalem in order that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’”
Other changes reflect a decision toavoid identifying people based on their disabilities.
A verse in Matthew that previously referred to “demoniacs, epileptics and paralytics,” now reads “people possessed by demons or having epilepsy or afflicted with paralysis.”
Shively T.J. Smith, a New Testament assistant professor at Boston University School of Theology who edited 1-3 John for the project, said she appreciated the range of voices that were heard and considered as the updated edition took shape.
“The NRSVue is an updated English translation that listened broadly and closely to a variety of faith-based constituencies, reading the Bible in our current times,” said Smith, who worked with focus groups and discussed the updated edition with African Methodist Episcopal Church bishops and students in her classroom.
“It attempts to reverse the historic trend in translation history from the 19th and 20th centuries in which some Christian communities and scholars of the Bible were historically excluded from the translation endeavors of our English Bibles.”
Bob Buller, director of SBL Press, said the new version also reflects “thorough and professional copy editing” that removed outdated aspects of the language and made other improvements.
“For example, the NRSV lowercased the names of some Jewish holidays and holy days, such as Passover, Sabbath and Festival of Unleavened Bread,” he said. “This could be interpreted as a sign of disrespect for these Jewish holy days, so we capitalized them just as we would for other religious communities.”
He noted the new edition does not use the word “girl” when referring to a young woman. Mark 14:69now speaks of a “female servant” instead of a “servant-girl.”
Over two years, seven general editors and 56 book editors used Dropbox, track changes and other tools to organize their rationales for proposed revisions. They held 76 two-hour meetings about the Hebrew Bible, New Testament and the Apocryphal/deuterocanonical books, frequently used by Catholic and Orthodox communities, before a final review of their recommendations. The NCC governing board approved the NRSVue in October.
“When we embarked on this journey our goal was to bring forth research for which Bible scholars hold a consensus,” Jim Winkler, NCC president, said in a statement. “This update with its attention to accuracy and clarity has far exceeded our highest expectations.”
The new version is expected to be released by publishers on or after May 1, 2022. Friendship Press, a subsidiary of NCC, plans to make an e-Bible of the new version available on its Word@Hand app before Christmas 2021.
