Canadian Government Proudly Admits to Requesting GoFundMe to Withhold Trucker Convoy Donations – Begs Other Crowdfunding Sites to Follow Suit

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/02/canadian-government-proudly-admits-requesting-gofundme-withhold-trucker-convoy-donations-begs-crowdfunding-sites-follow-suit/

On Friday, GoFundMe removed the $10 million Canadian Trucker Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser.

Hours after the digital highway robbery, the Ottawa Police Department (OPD) tweeted out a statement that thanked the crowdfunding platform for caving to the city’s demands to withhold funding from the protesters.

The OPD statement also called on other platforms to follow suit, while labeling the grassroots movement against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s authoritarianism an “unlawful demonstration.”

“We want to thank GoFundMe for listening to our concerns as a City and a police service. The decision to withhold funding for these unlawful demonstrations is an important step and we call on all crowdfunding sites to follow.”

Like a true fascist, Ottawa’s Mayor Jim Watson also praised GoFundMe for their decision to defraud donors and steal the money away from the truckers.

Just like the OPD, Watson also called the demonstrators “unlawful” and asked all other crowdfunding platforms to choke off funding to the protest, because, he “hopes,” they will not be able to stay in the city without outside “funding and resources.”

“I want to sincerely thank the team at GoFundMe for listening to the plea made by the City and the Ottawa Police to no longer provide funds to the convoy organizers”

“In light of the unlawful behaviour that has transpired in the last few days, they have come to the right decision in support of our city and our residents.

These protesters have been holding our city hostage for a week now, and i’m hopeful that limiting their access to funding and resources will restrict their ability to remain in Ottawa.

I am imploring similar crowdfunding platforms to take the same position and not enable the group in it’s fundraising efforts, which would deal a blow to our efforts to put an end to this occupation.”

The open admission of government interference immediately followed GoFundMe’s removal of the convoy’s fundraiser for a bogus, and unexplained, terms of service violation.

As we have seen on other platforms like Twitter, an arbitrary terms of service violation is the standard excuse to purge political dissidents. GiveSendGo does not take the same stance when it comes to actual violent extremist groups like BLM, which is able to raise money ad infinitum with absolutely no repercussions for their destructive actions.

Thankfully, conservatives and freedom-loving individuals still have GiveSendGo. The Canadian Trucker Convoy has since restarted its fundraiser on the Christian crowdfunding alternative, raising a whopping $1,000,000+ in less than a day.

If you would like to donate to the convoy and be assured they will actually receive the funds, the new campaign on GiveSendGo can be found here.

Good riddance, GoFundMe.

HONK HONK! God bless and Godspeed, truckers!

San Jose Mayor Talks About Seizing Guns from Owners Who Don’t Pay City Fee

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo (D) spoke to Slate about seizing firearms from people who refuse to pay the city’s new $25 gun owners’ fee or comply with the city’s new liability insurance requirement for gun owners.

Breitbart News reported that San Jose’s city council passed the fee ordinance and the liability insurance ordinance on January 25, 2022.

Slate notes the city fee is $25 and quotes Mayor Liccardo saying the funds collected will go to a foundation overseen by “Stanford professors, an epidemiologist who has been focused on gun harm, and nonprofit experts who understand domestic violence prevention programs, suicide prevention.”

Liccardo explained that the ordinance requiring the fee is “civil,” rather than criminal in nature. However, he made clear that failure to pay the fee can result of seizure of a firearm.

He said:

For example, there’s a bar brawl and they’re patting down everybody and someone’s got a gun. “Have you paid your fee? You have insurance?” “No.” OK, well, there’s an opportunity for us to remove the gun. And then when the gun owner comes back and demonstrates that they comply with the law and they’re a lawful gun owner, they get their gun back. But in the meantime, you’ve taken a gun out of a bar brawl. And that’s not a bad thing.

Liccardo then took exception to the suggestion the city fee is actually a tax on guns:

I don’t blame anyone for being emotional about this. These are really important issues that go to the core of what we believe about freedoms and rights and our own safety. But I’d say this. First, it’s a fee, it’s not a tax, and I won’t go into the details about what the difference is, but the reality is that in this country, there have been taxes on guns and ammunition since at least 1919, and they’ve been upheld by the courts. So the fact that there’s a constitutional right attached somewhere to the exercise of a particular activity doesn’t mean it can’t be regulated, taxed, or have a fee imposed.

The text of the Second Amendment ends with four words, “Shall not be infringed.”

LAWRENCE SELLIN: National Institutes of Health (NIH) Spent $Billions Supporting Research in China Including Its Biowarfare Program

By Joe Hoft Published February 5, 2022 at 5:20pm

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) spent billions of dollars supporting research in China including its biowarfare program.

Judicial Watch obtained 301 pages of emails and other records from the NIH through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

Among those documents is a list of 2,221 research projects awarded to U.S. universities between 2010 and 2018, through which money was funneled to Chinese research centers. The major portion of those grants (22%) were provided by Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

TRENDING: "We Failed" - Danish Newspaper Admits Failure and Apologizes for Not Questioning the Government's COVID-19 Narrative (VIDEO)

Chief among the recipients of Anthony Fauci’s generosity was Major General Wuchun Cao (shown in the photo as a Senior Colonel), who has been identified as a key figure in China’s biowarfare program.

Wuchun Cao has been the Director of the Institute of Microbial Epidemiology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Biosafety of Pathogenic Microorganisms, both in Beijing.

He has also been a part-time research scientist and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shandong University.

Wuchun Cao is a senior advisor on bioterrorism to the Chinese Communist Party and a scientific advisor for Wuhan Institute of Virology. He was second-in-command of the military team under Major General Chen Wei, presumed leader of China’s biowarfare program, that was sent to Wuhan to control the outbreak of COVID-19 early in the pandemic.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2013 NIAID research grant R01AI083640-05 for $343,817, awarded to Xiaofeng “Frank” Yang of the Indiana University School of Medicine.

The China-origins of Xiaofeng “Frank” Yang remain hidden, but he was a guest speaker at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2012.

The joint work between Xiaofeng “Frank” Yang and Wuchun Cao, which included Duke and Yale Universities, was published in 2015.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2014-2017 NIAID research grant R01AI108993 for $1,719,354, awarded to Gregory Gray of Duke University.

An earlier Gateway Pundit article described the long-term research collaboration between Wuchun Cao and Gregory Gray concerning the epidemiological spread of influenza virus and how that research may have played into the planning around the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2014-2018 NIAID grant R01AI110820 for $3,926,048, awarded to the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2017-2018 NIAID grant R01AI125842 for $1,493,667 awarded to the University of California at Berkeley.

People’s Liberation Army scientists Shibo Jiang of the Lindsley F. Kimball Institute at the New York Blood Center and his long-time collaborator Yusen Zhou of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences in Beijing teamed up on NIAID research grants R03 AI088449 (2011-2012), R21 AI128311-01 (2017) R01 AI139092-01 (2018), R21 AI128311-02 (2018) and R01 AI137472-01 (2018) for a total of $2,400,883.

oth Shibo Jiang and Yusen Zhou have deep connections with China’s People’s Liberation Army and were involved in research leading up to the laboratory origin of COVID-19, fact that have been exhaustively detailed in Gateway Pundit articles, here, here and here.

China has a fused military-civilian virus research program, which includes its bioweapon development effort.

FDA Restores Document on Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine Approval After Pressure From Epoch Times, Lawmakers

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has restored a document outlining why it approved Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, days after the regulatory agency pulled the 30-page file offline after receiving questions about it from The Epoch Times.

No explanation has been given for why the document vanished hours after the questions were sent, but the removal triggered pushback from the National Vaccine Information Center and multiple members of Congress.

“The coincidental removal of the approval documents for the Moderna vaccine is another massive blow to the credibility of the FDA, and I call on the agency to release this document immediately,” Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), a member of the House Oversight Committee, told The Epoch Times via email on Feb. 4.

The document in question is called the Summary Basis for Regulatory Action (SBRA) and was made public on Feb. 1, one day after the FDA approved Moderna’s jab without consulting its expert advisory panel.

After The Epoch Times sent questions about critical portions of the document, it disappeared from the agency’s website.

It popped back up after multiple emails and phone calls from The Epoch Times.

Spokespersons have declined to explain what happened.

The document, embedded below, includes the highest government estimate yet for post-vaccination heart inflammation cases. An FDA meta-analysis of data from four health care claims databases estimated that, among males aged 18 to 25, the rate of myocarditis following Moderna’s primary series was 148 per million males vaccinated. Myocarditis is a form of heart inflammation that can lead to death, though most cases do not.

The FDA has declined so far to provide a copy of the meta-analysis or a copy of another document referred to in the SBRA, a quantitative, age-stratified benefit-risk analysis in males 18 and older to evaluate the benefits and risks of Moderna’s vaccine.

Ex-Obama Envoy Warns U.S. Groups: Stop “Disruptive Activities’ in Canada

by Simon Kent 6 Feb 2022

A former ambassador to Canada appointed under President Barack Obama cautioned U.S. groups late Saturday night they must not pursue cross-border “disruptive activities” by funding Canadian Freedom Convoy protesters in Ottawa and beyond.

Bruce Heyman’s warning to freedom groups in the U.S. came as protesters opposed to vaccine mandates and coronavirus restrictions held rallies in cities across Canada in a show of solidarity with a week-long demonstration in Ottawa.

Heyman’s intervention came after crowdfunding site GoFundMe has announced all donors to the fundraiser for the Canadian Freedom Convoy will be “automatically” refunded.

“Under no circumstances should any group in the USA fund disruptive activities in Canada. Period. Full stop,” Heyman warned on social media:

Under no circumstances should any group in the USA fund disruptive activities in Canada. Period. Full stop.

— Bruce A. Heyman (@BruceAHeyman) February 6, 2022

GoFundMe reversed course due to “donor feedback” after it initially announced it would “redirect” donations intended for the Canadian Freedom Convoy to “credible and established charities” chosen by convoy organizers and “verified by GoFundMe,” as Breitbart News reported.

Christian-owned funding platform GiveSendGo is now hosting a new fundraiser for the Canada Freedom Convoy after far-left GoFundMe flip-flopped on its position.

Meanwhile in Canada’s largest city, Toronto, police set up road blocks throughout downtown Saturday, preventing any protesters in trucks or cars from getting near the provincial legislature.

The Toronto Sun reports truckers arrived bearing a sea of Canadian flags with convoy supporters atop dump trucks alongside 18-wheelers and a cacophony of blaring horns, all making their support for the fellow protesters in Ottawa known.

Police later moved in to clear a key intersection in the city.

Thousands also descended in Ottawa with participants offering roasted hotdogs and baked goods to other demonstrators.

Meanwhile other cities across Canada also saw vast support for the truckers and their cause of freedom from vaccine mandates.

Demonstrators gathered in Quebec City, Fredericton and Winnipeg, with rallies also planned for Regina, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and the U.S. border crossing in Coutts, Alta, as plenty stopped to share their concerns.

Pathetic: BLM-Loving NY Times Sics Cops on 'Noisy…Unlawful' Truckers' Vax Protests

Clay Waters February 6th, 2022 9:51 AM

The workers of the world are uniting against vaccine mandates…and the New York Times can’t stand it. A truckers’ protest over mandates in the Canadian capital of Ottawa has endured for over a week, and the Times’ patience with the “unlawful…occupation” of the city’s downtown has already evaporated.

The Saturday edition of the “Canada Letter” newsletter, penned by Ian Austen, opened with one long smear of the protestors.

Just over a week has passed since a convoy of heavy trucks, pickup trucks and cars began their noisy, intimidating and unlawful, according to the police, occupation of Ottawa’s downtown core.

….

….the Centretown neighborhood [is] a mix of high-rise apartments, condo towers, public housing, cooperative housing and beautifully restored heritage homes all plunked onto mostly narrow streets. And since the arrival of the truck convoy, the normally placid Centretown has become a congested and noisy nightmare for many residents.

“I’m receiving hundreds and I’m not exaggerating hundreds of emails telling me: ‘I went out to get groceries, I got yelled at, I got harassed. I got followed down the street, I’m so afraid that I can’t go out,’” Catherine McKenney, the city councilor for the area, told me on Thursday afternoon….

Noise has been one of the greatest issues in Centretown….

Day and night, trucks have been rumbling through their streets, blaring air horns – some of them of the variety usually found on railway locomotives. Impromptu fireworks shows, some as late as midnight add to the cacophony.

And yes, Catherine McKenney identifies as non-binary and goes by "Mx."; the paper dutifully complied, and didn't challenge her charges of terrorism by the truckers.

“The horn blaring is really meant to terrorize this community – and it’s working,” said Mx. McKenney, who will be running for mayor later this year.

If these second-hand anecdotes are indeed part of the picture of the protest, one is vividly reminded of similar, though much worse, incidents from the George Floyd racial protests of the summer of 2020 in multiple major U.S. cities.

But there weren’t just air horns in Minneapolis, New York City, and Portland (among dozens of other cities) but actual killings. The riots that grew out of some of the U.S. protests featured massive looting, vandalism, arsons, adding up to $2 billion in insurance claims and multiple arrests. Meanwhile, the Ottawa police, for all their insults, have yet to make a single arrest at the truckers’ protest.

Another large difference between the protests: The Times didn’t lead its coverage with insulting comments from U.S. law enforcement, who the Times actually suggested were fascist, in a lead story.

While the Times used second-hand information to condemn the anti-vaccine mandate protestors, it conveniently glossed over similar anti-social violence during an entire summer of U.S. rioting.

The week has brought numerous reports of people being harangued by protesters for wearing masks, demonstrators trying to rip down pro-vaccination signs on houses and others defecating and urinating on lawns. The air on many streets is filled with diesel exhaust fumes from idling trucks.

Many local stores have temporarily closed, while those that have remained opened have struggled to enforce provincial mask rules….

Who could tell? Canada’s overzealous COVID-19 rules have meant the country has been “temporarily closed” for nigh on two years now, despite new evidence from Johns Hopkins University that lockdowns ar essentially useless.

CNN's Collapse Is Now Complete

by Tyler Durden

Sunday, Feb 06, 2022 - 04:00 PM

By Joe Concha

It all began 42 years ago — Ted Turner's creation of a 24/7 news network that would exist on something called cable TV. Few believed it could succeed.

And, for its first decade, CNN largely chugged along but wasn't seen as a game-changer or a true competitor to big broadcast news entities based in New York in the form of CBS, NBC and ABC. That all changed when war broke out between the United States and Iraq in 1991.

On the night war exploded over Baghdad, CNN was the only news organization that was able to broadcast from the city under siege as the U.S. onslaught began, all courtesy of the CNN team’s ability to convince the Iraqi government to grant them a line out of the city to broadcast, one that the competition could not secure.

"How CNN Won the War" was the glowing headline from the Washington Post on a story that perfectly chronicled the events that led to CNN officially becoming a major player. And off it went.

Until 2002, CNN was No. 1 in the cable news race. But competition that hadn't existed before ended its dominance forever, primarily in the form of Fox News and, to a lesser extent, MSNBC. Despite the ratings results, CNN continued to carry itself as a credible, facts-first network of integrity that leaned heavily on solid reporting with a sprinkling of opinion and infotainment mixed in via programs such as "Larry King Live" and "Crossfire."

In 2013, the network hired former NBC Universal president Jeff Zucker to take the reins as ratings continued to be below average at best. This gave Zucker a mandate to radically change the network from its journalistic roots of more than three decades — the months-long wall-to-wall coverage of a missing Malaysian airliner being an early example.

But two years later, the move to insert heavy doses of partisan opinion into its news reports only accelerated when Donald Trump – a Zucker hire at NBC for "The Apprentice" – jumped in to the 2016 presidential race. At first, CNN bear-hugged Trump's every move. (Hillary Clinton's giving a speech somewhere? Screw it. Let's show an empty Trump podium with chyrons stating "Trump to speak soon" instead.) The real estate mogul's 17 Republican challengers never had a shot; Trump blotted out the sun in terms of media coverage on his way to winning the nomination.

At that point, Zucker and CNN began to worry. Because while it was a ratings boon for the network to make Trump the centerpiece, there was growing concern that the guy could actually beat Hillary and become the nation's 45th president. So Zucker unleashed the hounds, but it was too late. Trump would go on to shock the world in November 2016.

Undeterred, CNN decided there would be no honeymoon period for the new president. Talk about Russian collusion handing Trump the White House began even before the inauguration. And after the nonstop Trump-bashing, Harvard University concluded that CNN led the way, along with Zucker's former home of NBC, in giving Trump 93 percent negative coverage in his first 100 days.

For the next four years, CNN served as the leading media resistance to Trump, throwing objectivity out the window. And after Joe Biden got elected, the network cheered the new president as it had throughout the entire campaign while still making Trump a prime centerpiece for over-the-top negative coverage despite his being out of office.

But as much as CNN tried to resurrect its lead character – who was banned from social media and largely off the grid for the year – his absence clearly showed the network was a one-trick partisan pony. Ratings fell 90 percent overall when comparing January 2021 to January 2022. That’s hard to do.

Which brings us to the events of this week: Zucker released a statement saying he had to resign because of a consensual affair with a female executive named Allison Gollust. WarnerMedia apparently has a rule against this, so Zucker – instead of a slap on the wrist for a benign offense – simply had to go abruptly.

Nobody believed this excuse. Turns out they may have had plenty of reason to be skeptical.

Per several reports, Zucker and Gollust allegedly advised then Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) – the older brother of then-CNN anchor Chris Cuomo – on what to say during his COVID-19 daily briefings in the spring of 2020. They also reportedly told Cuomo how to respond to and how to criticize then-President Trump, to make it more compelling TV. (Gollust is a former communications director for Andrew Cuomo.)
