Old Army Infantry fag here. That 10th Mountain Division patch is on his RIGHT shoulder. That is a "Combat Patch", meaning he has been deployed at some point in his career with the 10th Mountain. Whatever patch is worn on the LEFT shoulder signifies which division / unit a soldier is currently assigned to. MANY Guard and Reserve soldiers are finishing their contract obligations. Example; I enlisted for 8 years total: 2 years Active Duty, 4 in the Guard and 2 more years of IRR (Individual Ready Reserve). Need to see the patch on a US Army soldier's LEFT shoulder to know what unit he is in. Drive on, Patriots. - 11Bravo for Life MuthaFucka
