This section contains weasel words: vague phrasing that often accompanies biased or unverifiable information.

Many of the members of the Club of Rome are seen as Elites, and critics[who?] argue passages in the book looking at how to unite divided nations by motivating them to rally around a new common fabricated enemy are clear indicators the work is conspiratorial in nature. In one passage the authors conjecture about new needed enemies or rally points for global society, "either a real one or else one invented for the purpose." Critics[who?] argue that statements like the previous made the book conspiratorial. Although, this kind of viewpoint can be seen as conspiratorial in one interpretation, it can also be seen as simply a group of well-intentioned geopolitical leaders and academics like Henry Kissinger "thinking outside the box" and exploring how to prevent shortfalls in the global governance models of the nineteenth-century and the twentieth-century like balance of power. The failure of those older models are widely blamed by Henry Kissinger in his 1994 book Diplomacy with leading to the global human catastrophes of the First World War and the Second World War.[2]

The following passage is generally pointed-to as a smoking gun and radical in the extreme by critics[who?]:

Because of the sudden absence of traditional enemies, "new enemies must be identified."[2] "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill….All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself."[3]

Democrats' impeachment filing: Trump 'threatened the constitutional system'

Tue February 2, 2021

The House impeachment managers argue former President Donald Trump should be convicted for inciting the insurrection at the Capitol last month and barred from holding future office, charging that his actions "threatened the constitutional system that protects the fundamental freedoms we cherish."

The House managers laid out their case against Trump in a pre-trial legal brief filed Tuesday morning, in which they accused Trump of stirring up violence against Congress in an attempt to upend the peaceful transfer of power. They also provided a constitutional defense for holding an impeachment trial of a former president.

"President Trump's responsibility for the events of January 6 is unmistakable," the House impeachment team wrote. "President Trump's effort to extend his grip on power by fomenting violence against Congress was a profound violation of the oath he swore. If provoking an insurrectionary riot against a Joint Session of Congress after losing an election is not an impeachable offense, it is hard to imagine what would be."

The House's brief is the first of several legal filings ahead of the start of the trial on February 9. Trump's response to the trial summons, in which he is expected to argue that the trial is unconstitutional, is due at 12 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

The legal briefings will provide the backdrop for a case in which the House impeachment managers face a skeptical Senate Republican conference. Last week, 45 of the 50 GOP senators voted to support dismissing the trial on constitutional grounds, a sign that the 67 votes required for conviction are unlikely to materialize.

In their brief Tuesday, the House managers pushed back on the Republican claims, arguing that there is ample history and precedent to hold a trial for Trump.

"There is no 'January Exception' to impeachment or any other provision of the Constitution," the managers wrote. "A president must answer comprehensively for his conduct in office from his first day in office through his last."

House Democrats noted that Trump was impeached while he still was president, pushing back on Senate Republican arguments that Congress cannot impeach a former official. Still, they argued there's precedent for impeaching former officials, too, as there have been a handful of cases in US history.

The House's impeachment brief also made the case for the Senate to bar Trump from holding future office. If the Senate convicts Trump, which requires a two-thirds majority, it can also hold a vote to prevent him from holding office again.

"Constitutional history, text, and structure, as well as prior Congressional practice, all confirm that the Senate has jurisdiction to try President Trump," the managers wrote. "So does common sense. While sworn to faithfully execute the laws — and to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution — President Trump incited insurrection against the United States government. His conduct endangered the life of every single Member of Congress, jeopardized the peaceful transition of power and line of succession, and compromised our national security."

379,309 views•Dec 30, 2015

Teacher, scientist, author, intellectual, and winner of the 1976 Nobel Prize in Economics, Milton Friedman was one of the 20th century's greatest proponents of free markets and individual liberty. The Power of Choice tells the story of his life. Overcoming almost universal opposition to his unconventional views, Friedman persevered, until eventually, many of his ideas came to be widely accepted. He lived to see those ideas transform economic theory and practice, inspiring changes that have improved the lives of millions of people worldwide.

Through interviews with leading economists and policymakers such as Alan Greenspan and Estonia's Prime Minister, Mart Laar, The Power of Choice explores Friedman's tremendous influence on policy - and daily life - in Estonia, Chile, and the United States. This 90-minute documentary, which premiered on public television January 2007, includes a bonus interview with Milton Friedman and Bob Chitester, creator of the Free To Choose television series.

Alexey Navalny jailed for 2.5 years after Moscow Court says he violated terms of suspended sentence in 'Yves Rocher' fraud cases

Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny will serve two-and-a-half years in prison after being found guilty of breaking the terms of a suspended sentence, handed down for an embezzlement case in 2014.

On Tuesday, Moscow City Court ruled that Navalny had failed to regularly report to the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), and his excuse for non-appearance was deemed insufficient. Therefore, the judge decided that the suspended judgment should be converted into a real one.

The anti-corruption activist was originally sentenced in 2014 to three-and-a-half years, but has already served 12 months under house arrest.

In 2014, Navalny was found guilty of embezzling 30 million rubles ($400,000) from two companies, including the French cosmetics brand Yves Rocher, in a case he claims was politically motivated. The judgment was also condemned by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which called the conviction "arbitrary and manifestly unreasonable." He received a sentence suspended for five years, which was later extended by another year. It was due to expire on December 30 last year. However, a couple of days before it ended, Navalny was summoned by the FSIN. He didn't turn up, as he wasn't in the country, and was therefore declared a wanted person.

At the time, Navalny was in Germany, convalescing from an alleged poisoning in Siberia last August. However, a report published by Berlin doctors in December showed that he had recovered, and therefore, according to the FSIN, he technically should have been able to attend.

Prior to the beginning of the case, media reported a large police presence around the court building, with several arrests being made. Nearby streets were blocked off.

Trump Lawyer: Impeachment Is "Political Weaponization" Of A Constitutional Process

David Schoen, one of former President Donald Trump’s newly appointed impeachment defense attorneys, said he believes that Democrats are using the impeachment process as a “weapon” to go after Trump in an attempt to bar him from running for office again.

“This is the political weaponization of the impeachment process,” Schoen told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday.

“I think it’s also the most ill-advised legislative action that I’ve seen in my lifetime. It is tearing the country apart at a time when we don’t need anything like that.”

Democrat lawmakers have been calling for Trump’s impeachment since the beginning of his term, Schoen said, and the upcoming trial is their latest attempt to target him, as well as to carry out their agenda of preventing him from ever running for president again.

“That’s about as undemocratic as you can get,” Schoen said.

“Can you imagine the slap in the face that is to the 75 million or more voters?”

“Fair-minded people don’t support using the impeachment process to then try to bar someone from running for office again,” he added.

The Democrat-controlled House on Jan. 13 voted 232–197 to impeach Trump on a single article of impeachment, alleging that the president incited an “insurrection” that caused the U.S. Capitol breach on Jan. 6.

Famed private investigator, Jack Palladino, dies days after violent robbery

Private investigator to the stars Jack Palladino has died four days after suffering a traumatic brain injury while getting robbed outside his San Francisco home, his lawyer said.

Palladino was 76.

The flamboyant P.I. — whose clients included Bill Clinton, Harvey Weinstein and a teen Michael Jackson accuser — banged his head Thursday as two men stole a camera he was using to take photos of them, police and his family said.

Palladino died Monday, a day after he was taken off life support, his lawyer confirmed to the Associated Press (AP).

Local District Attorney Chesa Boudin told the San Francisco Chronicle that two men already charged with the robbery — Lawrence Thomas, 24, and Tyjone Flournoy, 23 — will now likely face murder charges.

Fittingly for such a storied career, their arrests appear to have been Palladino’s final case — with the photos he took of them just before the fatal attack using to ID them, police told his wife, fellow detective Sandra Sutherland.

“He would have loved knowing that,” his wife told the AP.

She recalled telling him as he lay unconscious in the hospital, “Guess what, Jack, they got the bastards, and it was all your doing.”

In a career spanning five decades, Palladino racked up a star-studded roster of clients that included political heavyweights and Hollywood celebrities.

He was hired by Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign to put a lid on women who were coming forward to claim they had had sex with the future president, and later helped keep track of women accusing rapist Harvey Weinstein of abuses.

He also helped the family of a 14-year-old boy who won a multimillion-dollar settlement from Michael Jackson after accusing him of molestation. The late singer was never charged with a crime in that case.

He even played himself in the 1999 Russell Crowe movie “The Insider” as it showed him helping whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand fight Big Tobacco.

Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown told KTVU that “if you were to cast someone to be a private investigator in a movie, Jack Palladino was the prototype.”

Other clients included Don Johnson, Kevin Costner, Robin Williams, Huey Newton and Snoop Dogg, as well as the Hearst family after their daughter Patty was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army.

Polish Government to Breitbart: Big Tech’s ‘Cancel Culture’ Is Bolshevik, Not Democratic

“Cancel culture aims to make people afraid to express their opinions” and Big Tech is working with the far left to promote this environment which has more in common with the methods of Soviet Russia than modern democracies, a Polish government minister has told Breitbart London.

Sebastian Kaleta is Poland’s deputy minister for justice and the man tasked with shepherding a new law meant to give protections to Polish citizens from censorious and over-powerful Silicon Valley big-tech firms. He told Breitbart London that Poland has real concerns about cancel culture and is legislating against it.

Kaleta said that while the worst excesses of political correctness has yet to be felt in socially conservative Poland, his government was watching developments elsewhere — including where political correctness had developed into a full hard-left culture — with concern.

Kaleta made clear that Poland’s 50 years of living under Soviet communist occupation and then rule had left the nation cautious about modern developments in censorship — something he said other nations which had never suffered under communism appeared to be blind to. He said: “The pressure from the far left has developed from soft political correctness into a much harsher phase, that of cancel culture… [it is] very worrying, and is more reminiscent of bolshevik standards than democratic ones.”

Observing the dangerous path that many Western countries are now walking, Kaleta offered a lesson from Poland’s recent past when “reeducation camps” were the norm for deviants and those who criticised the prevailing orthodoxy. He continued: “Cancel culture aims to make people afraid to express their opinions.

“The signals from the left are clear — if you do not agree with us and you criticise us, the ‘system’ we have created will not only get you fired, but it will also limit your access to certain services and products.”

Ultimately, Kaleta said, the “neo-Marxists” calling the shots within cultural institutions like the mainstream media and Silicon Valley were using “methods which are closer to those of Soviet Russia than social democracy”. He cited the case of now-cancelled, but until recently the most successful author on earth, J.K. Rowling, as an example of the power of that cancel culture, noting simply: “Slowly but surely, the revolution devours its own children.”

The comments to Breitbart London come as Kaleta and the Polish government introduce a new law to protect Polish citizens from censorship at the hands of a remote Silicon Valley elite. Under the new plan, Poles who found their accounts and posts blocked, deleted, or limited for messages which offended Big Tech morals but which did not fall foul of Polish law could appeal for redress.

Poland’s prospective parliament-appointed free speech board could demand social media networks reinstate the accounts of wronged Poles. Poland could levy fines of up to 50 million zloty ($14 million) per offence in cases where they refused to comply. Ultimately, he explained: “Freedom of speech needs to be defended from censorship.”

Texas Governor Vows State Action to Fill Gaps Left by Biden’s ‘Open Border Policies’

During his State of the State Address on Monday night, Texas Governor Greg Abbott pledged to “fortify” the state’s border security efforts. The statement follows actions by the new administration of President Joe Biden to end the construction of border wall systems and related policies.

“Because of the federal government’s open border policies,” Governor Abbott said while speaking from Visionary Fiber Technologies in Lockhart, Texas, “Texas must fortify its efforts to secure our border.”

Abbott’s comments follow actions taken by President Biden on this first day in office where he called a halt to the construction of border wall systems funded by congressional authorizations during the Trump administration, as reported by Breitbart Texas. Biden also ended the Migrant Protection Program which effectively ended the Obama-Biden era catch-and-release policies regarding migrants illegally entering the U.S.

“We already have planes in the air, boots on the ground, boats on the water, and cruisers on the roads,” the Texas governor said, referring to the state’s efforts. “We must expand our efforts to crack down on human trafficking and drug smuggling in Texas.”

Texas legislators called for spending nearly $800 million on border security efforts over the next two years, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The proposed $797 million budget is a reduction of $3.5 million from the previous biennium.

Over the past three legislative sessions, Texas hired approximately 1,000 more Department of Public Safety troopers to help support efforts along the state’s southern border with Mexico. The state also built technology and training centers. National Guardsmen and airmen also participated in the Texas border security efforts.

An April 2017 report published by the National Economics Editorial placed the cost of illegal immigration to Texas taxpayers at $12.36 billion per year, or 9.6 percent of the state’s budget.

Judicial Watch and Daily Caller News Foundation Appeal Court Decision about Hidden Biden Senatorial Records

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today it filed a notice of appeal to the Supreme Court of Delaware, asking for a reversal of the opinion of the Superior Court of Delaware, which is blocking a state Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for access to records about President Joe Biden’s senatorial records held by the University of Delaware. Biden’s papers include more than 1,850 boxes of archival records from his senate career.

The appeal comes in Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation’s lawsuit filed after a Delaware Attorney General’s opinion denied access to the records (Daily Caller News Foundation v. University of Delaware (No. N20A-07-001)). The Delaware FOIA lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of Delaware on July 2, 2020.

The appeal is challenging the Superior Court of Delaware’s January 4, 2021, ruling upholding the Delaware state attorney general’s opinion that the records are not “public records” because, the opinion concludes without evidence, no public funds are used to support the Biden records project at the University of Delaware.

Judicial Watch responded in court that it is impossible for the housing of Biden’s senatorial records in the University of Delaware’s Library to not be supported by any public funds. Judicial Watch noted that the University admitted that “[t]he State of Delaware provides the University with approximately $120 million each year through an appropriation in the state budget,” but has yet to show how public funds are not used to support the papers.

Judicial Watch further pointed out that “archival storage space and professional staff members’ time are things of value that it can be inferred are paid for with public funds,” and notes that the requests even listed the “University personnel who maintain the Senatorial Papers whose salaries, it can be inferred, are paid with State funds.” Judicial Watch requested that the Superior Court order the University to search for and produce the requested records.

“We have no idea why the University of Delaware is hiding these materials that the public should have every right to see and we are grateful for Judicial Watch and our local counsel for pushing this case hard. When people ask why our institutions are no longer trusted they should look up this case,” said Daily Caller News Foundation President Neil Patel.

“There is significant public interest in the special deal between Joe Biden and the University of Delaware that is keeping Biden’s Senate records completely secret,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Delaware law is explicit in requiring state entities, including the University of Delaware, to provide public access to these records.”

Judicial Watch filed its FOIA lawsuit after the University denied its April 30, 2020, request for:

All records regarding the proposed release of the records pertaining to former Vice President Joe Biden’s tenure as a Senator that have been housed at the University of Delaware Library since 2012. This request includes all related records of communication between the University of Delaware and any other records created pertaining to any meeting of the Board of Trustees during which the proposed release of the records was discussed.

All records of communication between any representative of the University of Delaware and former Vice President Biden or any other individual acting on his behalf between January 1, 2018 and the present.

Lindsey Graham: If Dems want impeachment witnesses, GOP will call on FBI to testify

If Democrats open “a can of worms” by calling witnesses during former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, Senate Republicans will call on the FBI to testify, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said, Fox News reported.

The trial is set for next Tuesday.

Democrats are expected to announce as soon as Tuesday whether they will call witnesses, Reuters reported Monday.

“If you open that can of worms, we’ll want the FBI to come in and tell us about how people pre-planned this attack and what happened with the security footprint at the Capitol,” Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday night. “You open up Pandora’s Box if you call one witness.”

In the same interview, Graham said that the “second impeachment of Donald Trump is not wearing well over time. Democrats are in a box.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has not publicly stated his views on impeachment yet, but he did say on the Senate floor last month that the mob who violently stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6 were “provoked” by Trump and “other powerful people.” Last week, too, McConnell voted with 44 other Senate Republicans against tabling a vote on the constitutionality of Trump’s second impeachment, the first time a commander-in-chief has received an impeachment trial in the upper chamber after leaving office. The vote was ultimately tabled.

Graham provided his insight into what Senate Republicans think of impeachment.

“I had a great meeting with Sen. McConnell today, I think every Republican sees the House process as an affront to the presidency and due process,” the South Carolina Republican said.

Exactly one week after the deadly January 6 riot, the House of Representatives voted 232-197 to impeach Trump for “incitement of insurrection.”

When asked about the concerns surrounding the constitutionality of impeaching a former president, Graham said, “Sen. McConnell basically told the Republican conference exactly what you just said. He was offended by the process in the House.”

The trial scheduled to start February 9 will be overseen by Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) instead of Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

Trump allies have put it out in the open that the main argument they plan to make is that the impeachment trial is unconstitutional since the former president has already left office.

In order to successfully convict Trump, 17 Republicans would have to break party lines and vote will with all 50 members of the Senate Democratic Caucus. However, 45 Republican senators including McConnell voting last week to not table a vote on the trial’s constitutionality has been widely interpreted to mean that the trial will be dead on arrival next week.

NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence In Estonia

Seven member states of the Alliance (Germany, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Estonia) and NATO’s Strategic Reform Command signed documents in May 2008 establishing a Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (CCDCOE) in Tallinn, Estonia. The importance of this DCOE has grown significantly since the Alliance declared cyberspace, along with air, land and sea, as a new area of operations at the 2016 Warsaw Summit.

It should be noted that NATO member countries can become members of the center after signing a memorandum of understanding that defines the issues of funding and allocation of personnel. The DCOE can also cooperate with non-bloc states, research institutes and enterprises as sponsors.

Currently, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Great Britain, USA, Greece, Turkey, Belgium, and from non-NATO countries – Austria, Sweden and Finland are participating in the work of the Center. Bulgaria, Norway and Romania plan to join this structure.

The following main tasks of the center are defined:

research and development of new ways of protecting information, including the identification of harmful effects on the information systems of the participating countries, the assessment of the damage caused, the restoration of their performance, as well as the timely adoption of measures to prevent cyber attacks

legal support of NATO activities in the field of cyber defense

study, generalization and dissemination of experience in the field of information security

educational and methodological work and training of specialists in the field of protection and security of information of the member countries

The center pays special attention to research in the cybersphere, the main directions of which are:

-development of concepts and strategies for ensuring security in cyberspace, as well as concepts for conducting cyber operations (offensive, defensive, operational) both within NATO and in individual member countries

development of technical solutions to ensure the security of digital computing systems of the alliance and member countries, detection and elimination of the consequences of cyber attacks, development of methods for determining an intrusion from the outside

cyber risk assessment, modeling and conducting cyber defense exercises and drills

In 2013, the center published a collection of expert opinions and rules on actions in cyberspace “The Tallinn Cyber Warfare Guide”, and in 2017, an expanded version of it, which analyzed the norms of international law in relation to cybercrime.

Judicial Watch Asks Supreme Court to Uphold Court Ruling Requiring Hillary Clinton to Testify Under Oath About Her Emails

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch filed a petition for writ of certiorari (“cert petition”) with the U.S. Supreme Court asking it to uphold a court ruling requiring Hillary Clinton to testify under oath about her private email system.

Last March a federal court ordered a deposition of Hillary Clinton on her emails and Benghazi attack records in response to a FOIA lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch.

Hillary Clinton’s lawyers immediately filed an emergency appeal to stop her court-ordered email testimony.

Clinton’s team filed an emergency writ of mandamus to avoid testifying and the DC Court of Appeals granted her relief in August.

Judicial Watch refuses to back down and is now taking the fight to the US Supreme Court.

Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a petition for writ of certiorari (“cert petition”) with the U.S. Supreme Court asking it to take up its challenge to an appeals court order exempting Hillary Clinton from testifying under oath about her emails. Judicial Watch argues the court should hear its case because the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit erred in giving Clinton unwarranted special treatment that conflicts both with Supreme Court precedent and the precedents of other courts of appeal, including its own.

As Judicial Watch argues in its cert petition, granting Clinton this extraordinary relief flies in the face of the D.C. Circuit’s own precedent, most recently in the Michael Flynn case, who, unlike Clinton, was denied mandamus relief.

Judicial Watch also argues that the appellate decision allowing Hillary Clinton to avoid testimony dramatically undermines the Freedom of Information Act:

In effect, it eliminates any discovery into the actions of agency officials or employees other than FOIA officers – walling off from any inquiry officials or employees who may be less than honest with FOIA officers or who might seek to conceal agency records from FOIA officers to prevent disclosure to the public, among other matters plainly relevant to an agency’s good faith in responding to FOIA requests.

“No court should undermine the Freedom of Information Act and the rule of law by giving Hillary Clinton special protection from having to testify about her emails,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “The Supreme Court should cast politics aside and affirm that Hillary Clinton is not above the law.”

Trump Team Responds To Impeachment Article, Argues Senate Has 'No Jurisdiction' To Bar From Running Again

President Trump's legal team has filed a response to House Democrats' single impeachment article, arguing that he cannot be tried for impeachment because he's no longer president, and that he did not engage in insurrection or rebellion leading up to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

"Incitement of Insurrection against him as moot, and thus in violation of the Constitution, because the Senate lacks jurisdiction to remove from office a man who does not hold office," reads the filing.

Trump's team also argues that as a private citizen, the Senate has no jurisdiction over whether he can hold office gain.

"The 45th President believes and therefore avers that as a private citizen, the Senate has no jurisdiction over his ability to hold office."

Arguments from Trump's legal team on impeachment (h/t @weijia):

-Trump cannot be tried for impeachment because he is no longer president

-Trump did not engage in insurrection or rebellion

-As a private citizen, the Senate has no jurisdiction over whether he can hold office again

Rhetorical Hyperbole

Rhetorical hyperbole is a First Amendment-based doctrine that the Court has used to provide protection to exaggerated, over-the-top speech in defamation cases.

Lebanon - British Embassy Infiltrates Military Intelligence, Provides Snooping Equipment, Indoctrinates Young Palestinians

The British ambassador to Lebanon is 'very exited’ to hand off some useless, half armored patrol vehicles to the Lebanese army:

Martin Longden @MlongdenUK - 12:25 UTC · Feb 1, 2021

Very excited to witness the arrival in Beirut of 100 armoured patrol vehicles, a donation from 🇬🇧 to @LebarmyOfficial. This is a great practical example of the 🇬🇧 🇱🇧 partnership, and of our longstanding support for the LAF’s vital role in keeping the Syria border safe and secure.

Keeping the Syrian border safe and secure is certainly not a British priority. Let’s not forget that it was Britain which hired various companies, led by 'former' British intelligence officers, who then organized and ran the propaganda campaigns for the Jihadi onslaught on Syria.

The same companies were hired to secretly create 'civil society’ groups in Lebanon that were then used to demonstrate for 'regime change’ and to pressure the Lebanese government. It was also Her Majesties Government which hired such intelligence cutouts to embed into and undermine Lebanon’s justice and security services.

Lebanon’s army was another target of British intelligence efforts to gain control over Lebanon’s policies.

'Anonymous' hackers have recovered and published a third batch of documents which show how Britain infiltrated Lebanon’s Armed Forces Military Intelligence Department. Other documents show that Britain supplied spying equipment to the intelligence services it had infiltrated. Another secret program was designed to infiltrate Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon and to manipulate Palestinian youths.

For all this the British government is using company cutouts. A government’s Terms of Reference document for the penetration of Lebanon’s military intelligence describes how the vendor is supposed to proceed. The 'excuse' is to provide training and support for counter terrorism (emphasis added):

The objective of [British Embassy Beirut] is to increase the capacity, capability and Human Rights compliance of the LAF and Military Tribunal within the CT arrest to trial process. A compliant pathway through the Lebanese CT system is sought that could be used by UK law enforcement in the case of terrorism cases with UK links in Lebanon.

Requirement

An external supplier is required to deliver a two year programme on behalf of the British Embassy Beirut working primarily with the Lebanese Armed Forces Department of Military Intelligence, but with scope to engage with a broader range of security services here, to develop their investigative processes and evidential standards.

Working primarily via a embedded CT adviser, the successful supplier will also be expected to demonstrate a broad range of areas of expertise available on call down as necessary, to effectively project manage the programme while reporting into BE Beirut, and to demonstrate that they have built in rigorous and independent M&E processes throughout the programming timeline.

Welcome to Micronetia

Micronetia is a system for people to create their own standalone blog, website or other internet connected resource that is hosted by them so that it can't be arbitrarily deleted because some part of BigTech decided that either the content or its creator needed to be cancelled.

The initial Micronetia project uses a Raspberry Pi(,https://www.raspberrypi.org/) the Ghost(https://ghost.org/) blogging/newsletter open source software and the free tier of service from Cloudflare(https://www.cloudflare.com/) to put up a website which can support thousands or millions of visitors but which is hosted securely in your living room where no one can delete it.
