Dig: The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children

Under the guise of helping neglected or abused children, this society was granted peace officer status to seize children, intimidate and enforce $$ collection. While it all looks good on surface, these delegated rights from the State Attorney General and county district attorney were never revoked. How does this put them above the law and create a barrier to parents and guardians seeking information.

What exactly are their Programs ? What are the buildings used for ?

• New York Presbyterian Hospital Yelp Review (1/20/2019 Stay away from this hospital. Literally was in labor and it was like they could not care less. Did not check me or baby due to overcrowding for hours. It is essentially malpractice as to how they operate and should be investigated by the state. Shame on Weil Cornell for allowing this to happen. I plan on reporting this hospital to all city and state agencies.)

Mandate Today:

The NYSPCC runs several programs, including parenting skills, trauma recovery for abused children, trauma recovery for child welfare officers dealing with harrowing cases, professional training in identifying and reporting abuse and neglect, and visitation programs allowing children to visit their non-custodial parents in safe environments.

While acting pursuant to their duties, individuals performing investigatory tasks for the NYSPCC hold New York State peace officer status. This means that these individuals can perform law enforcement-based investigations, make arrests, carry firearms (if so authorized by the NYSPCC and properly trained according to New York State law enforcement standards), and use physical and/or deadly force.
