Elon Musk and the Tech Bro Obsession With 'Free Speech'

They say that something is worth what someone will pay for it.

If that’s true, then protecting “free speech,” which Elon Musk has cited as a central reason he agreed to buy Twitter for $44 billion this week, may be worth twice as much as solving America’s homelessness problem, and seven times as much as solving world hunger. It’s worth more (to him, at least) than educating every child in nearly 50 countries, more than the GDP of Serbia, Jordan, or Paraguay.

In the days since Musk agreed to terms on a deal to take Twitter private, nearly all of Musk’s tweets have been about freedom and censorship on the platform. Like: “By ‘free speech,’ I simply mean that which matches the law. I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law.” Or: “Truth Social (terrible name) exists because Twitter censored free speech.” And: “the extreme antibody reaction from those who fear free speech says it all.”

Why does Musk care so much about this? Why would a guy who has pushed the boundaries of electric-vehicle manufacturing and plumbed the limits of commercial space flight care about who can say what on Twitter?

“Freedom of speech” has become a paramount concern of the techno-moral universe. The issue has anchored nearly every digital media debate for the last two years, from the dustup over Joe Rogan at Spotify to vaccine misinformation on Facebook. Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg gave a major speech at Georgetown in 2019 about the importance of “free expression” and has consistently relied on the theme when explaining why Facebook has struggled to curb disinformation on the platform.

“It does seem to be a dominant obsession with the most elite, the most driven Elon Musks of the world,” says Fred Turner, professor of communication at Stanford University and author of several books about Silicon Valley culture, who argues that “free speech seems to be much more of an obsession among men.” Turner says the drive to harness and define the culture around online speech is related to “the entrepreneurial push: I did it in business, I did it in space, and now I’m going to do it in the world.”

BOOM! Elon Musk Outs Media Matters as Source of Threats to Twitter Advertisers

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/05/boom-elon-musk-outs-media-matters-source-threats-twitter-advertisers/

Soros-funded Media Matters and several leftist groups like Matt Rivitz from Sleeping Giants have been harassing American corporations for years to quit advertising with conservative platforms, websites and businesses.

Democrats made this a plank in their platform to annihilate the opposition.

Earlier this week CNN published a hit piece on Elon Musk and Twitter. Democrats are furious that conservatives may have a voice again on the platform now that Elon Musk is in charge. It is now common knowledge that Democrats can only win when they cheat.

On Tuesday Elon Musk tweeted on the left’s attempts to destroy advertising on the platform.

Elon Musk exposed the culprits behind the plot — Media Matters.

They weren’t expecting this.

From the CNN report — Media Matters even sent out a threatening letter to Twitter advertisers to quit paying for ads on the platform.

Maybe the world’s richest man will decide to put them out of business. He has dedicated his life to the future of mankind. This would be a logical next step.

VICE posts 'do it yourself' abortion guide including 'abortion pills' made with ingredients used to treat horses

After many took to Twitter to condemn the publication for engaging in potentially dangerous home abortions, VICE instead chose to double down on the medically unsound advice.

Left-wing news outlet, VICE posted a “do it yourself” abortion guide on Tuesday, with details on creating DIY “abortion pills” made with ingredients used to treat horses with stomach ulcers.

VICE’s “Motherboard” account wrote on Twitter, “Misoprostol is relatively easy to acquire from veterinary sources, since in addition to medically inducing abortions, it's also used to treat ulcers in horses,” with a link to the article.

The article comes following the leaked documents that the Supreme Court may overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision of the Supreme Court in 1973 that protects a woman’s choice to have an abortion without government restriction.

The article discusses the drug misoprostol, an NSAID medication that can be used to induce abortions.

VICE wrote in the article, “This is reminiscent of ivermectin, which is used to control parasites in horses but also became a favored—but ineffective—COVID treatment among conspiracy theorists. Ivermectin’s use in horses made it easier for humans to get without a prescription,” seemingly unaware of the comparisons to Ivermectin, which was vilified on social media after questions about its efficacy were raised by some medical doctors.

The mainstream media blasted popular podcast host Joe Rogan for taking ivermectin after being diagnosed with COVID-19, as prescribed by his doctor.

Attorney General Merrick Garland Unveils New “Office of Environmental Justice” to Advance Biden’s Climate Agenda

US Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday unveiled a new “Office of Environmental Justice” to advance Joe Biden’s climate agenda.

“The new office will be headed by Cynthia Ferguson, an attorney working in the DOJ’s Environmental Enforcement Section of its Environment and Natural Resources Division.” – CNN reported.

Garland said the Office of Environmental Justice “will serve as the central hub for our efforts to advance our comprehensive environmental justice enforcement strategy,” with the office working alongside a number of other intradepartmental agencies, including the Civil Rights Division and United States Attorneys’ offices, to “prioritize meaningful and constructive engagement with the communities most affected by environmental crime and injustice.”

“In our environmental enforcement efforts, we will prioritize the cases that will have the greatest impact on the communities most overburdened by environmental harm,” he said, noting that “communities of color, indigenous communities, and low-income communities often bear the brunt of the harm caused by environmental crime, pollution and climate change.”
