I recall thinking at the time how awfully convenient that "Fuddy" plane crash was, coming on the heels of the Birther controversy. The video says the plane was "spiraling" into the ocean. That was a smooth glide onto the water....
"Cut" is used in the specific application of corn that's being cut for silage. That is cattle feed stored in a "silo." Common usage in the Midwest, where if a crop isn't going to mature on a timely basis due to weather constraints, it can still be cut for silage.
