The reason i got vegas is coz -- somewhere in my files -- i've got some info from an anon on using Vegas to compress files. but can't locate it now, got a little busy and lost track of some things.

Simpler program would probably be better, but i didn't know what to get. two of us are doing videos, the other baker is using Bandicam but looks like it does not support textual overlays. i did the video screenshot of my last bake using snagit--basic but it works.

have also create a lot of instructional materials, just not vids. I would be an impossible "client" bc the way i develop materials is to keep refining everything based on ongoing feedback and insights. Ideally, there would be an app where it's easy to do file reduction and overlays--and which has decent YT tutorials on both.

Does that product exist?

Cannot get Windows Movie Maker, discontinued. Replaced by a crap program within Photo that does what Microsoft does best--take away user functionality and replace it with weird unnwanted features that automatically add music to the vid (etc). Just watched a based user spend all his time getting rid of unwanted presets only to discover there's not much left. Hard to believe you can't get a video editor that does basic functions that's also easy to use. But then--a lot of things are hard to believe at this point!!

thx. A bump limit sounds a lot like a bump lock that happens after a certain number of posts are made. Would be GREAT to have the option of changing the reply limit; otherwise, found like BO must lock to create shorter breads.

Ten tips for notables

from just one baker, opinions may vary.

GENERALLY

1. Maintain a separate Notepad++ file for notables (don't insert directly in the pastebin file).

Enables you to note missing sauce, put in "iffy" notes at the end (waiting for a nom), etc.

1. Post about four times during the bread, (early, middle, last call, final).

Don't stick anything iffy in at the last moment, make sure anons can vet it first.

1. Make notables easy to find with RED TEXT and BOLD.

Especially important if you may have to ghost--next baker needs heavy formatting to locate important info like notes.

1. Link notes to dough post if you have to ghost.

Same reason as above.

DECIDING WHAT TO NOTABLE

1. Look for anon noms, they are usually notable.

"Usually" because shills nom too. So do trolls, for fun. If not sure, either ask for a 2nd nom or say what's missing (often a description).''

1. Look for special reports: planefags, boatfags, Resignations in the News, etc.

Anons seldom nom these, except for RA's stuff if they don't see it in Notes.

1. For noms wo/a description, ask for one.

These are usually anon diagrams, analyses & Q proofs. Hard to evaluate much less write a description. It's the responsibility of the poster or nom-mer to provide one.

1. If there is too much news & bred is fast...

...focus mainly on nommed posts, breaking news (if verified), news re Q concerns (CP, etc.).

1. Check for two things: dates and whether it's been notabled (qresear.ch).

Easy during slow breads, hard during fast ones. Dates take priority. But if you forget, anons or shills will always let you know.

1. Try to thank anons who go above and beyond...

...by including descriptions/titles with noms, looking up sauce for baker, etc. Don't be afraid to talk to anons or ask for feedback.

1. During Q breds, notables are low priority. As soon as you know, search on "Q !!" to find posts, get to the bottom of the bread, and bake really early.

Keep your eye open for baker caps and fully-formatted Q posts w/caps.

The baking school is beginning to pay off. Not only does it give would-be bakers an easy, step-by-step approach to baking but also the chance to ask questions and kind of 'grok' the baker culture by participating in discussions with the bakers who attend (usually the teacher plus at least 3-5 others).

So it helps bridge the gap between bakers and anons--which is very important.

On a board like /qrb/, the tension between the two is very low, in part bc we don't have shills division-fagging. But also, we don't usually attract shill bakers (true even last summer). But on /qresearch/ there can be bigger problems. And in fact, it was dissatsifaction with bakers one day that led to the board takeover by BO. Anons were genuinely unhappy with the bakers that day, and a subset begged BO to "do something." That subset was probably a bunch of shills, possibly planted in advance. At least some of the bakers were unknown, so they could also have been plants. The suspicious part was just how well-prepared BO was to immediately take over--like he had it planned.

But still--this could never have happened if there had been better /comms/ between bakers and anons in the first place. In addition to helping anons to bake, the baking school also makes it easier for anons to understand where bakers are coming from--and vice-versa. Win-win.
