Did a quick once-over of the Augustana Lutheran Church website. It is curious that I did not find any evidence of affiliation with a larger Lutheran Church.
The major Lutheran church organizations in the US are:
ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) - this is the "liberal" Lutheran branch
LCMS (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod) - this is the conservative Lutheran branch (formed in Missouri from the German Synod)
Evangelical Norwegian Synod Lutheran - very conservative; a bit quirky and distrustful of outsiders.
This looks like a renegade church. Sad.
