A little bit of progress last night on the Flynn / digital soldiers graphic. Basically the 4 color matrix is one column short of the others. When corrected, it is almost an identical match for Flynn's original graphic, with exception of the lightest-colored squares.
So the difference between these two graphics must be important. The 5:5 repeating-pattern-graphic I see as some kind of baseline or filter, to be used with the other graphics.
In this example I have eliminated non-matching squares between the 3-color and 4-color matrix, and filled in the missing parts with squares from the 5:5 matrix.
Feels like we're on to something, but no idea what it means.
