Alleged Salas Family Assailant Previously Worked for US/Israeli Intelligence-Linked Firm

The alleged gunmen who killed the son of Esther Salas, the judge recently assigned to the Epstein-Deutsche Bank case, worked for a company of corporate spies and mercenaries with ties to intelligence and also to Deutsche Bank.

The news of the shooting of the husband and son of Esther Salas, the judge recently assigned to oversee the Jeffrey Epstein – Deutsche Bank case, caused shock and confusion while also bringing renewed scrutiny to the Epstein scandal just a week after Epstein’s main co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, was denied bail in a separate case.

The case Salas is set to oversee is a class action lawsuit brought by Deutsche Bank investors who allege that Deutsche Bank “failed to properly monitor customers that the Bank itself deemed to be high risk, including, among others, the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.” The case came after the New York state Department of Financial Services had settled with Deutsche Bank over the bank’s failure to cut ties with Epstein-linked accounts, resulting in Deutsche Bank paying a $150 million fine. Deutsche Bank, unlike other financial institutions, failed to close all of its accounts linked to Epstein until less than a month prior to his arrest last year, even though the bank had identified him as “high risk” yearsbefore.

Beyond the tragedy of Sunday’s shooting, which claimed the life of Salas’ only child, the quick discovery of the death of the main suspect, Roy Den Hollander, of a “self-inflicted” gunshot to the head before he could be arrested or questioned by authorities has led to speculation that there is more to the official narrative of the crime than meets the eye.

With law enforcement sources now claiming that Esther Salas was not the intended target of the attack and some media reports now suggesting that Den Hollander’s motive was related to his dislike of feminism, it appears there are efforts underway to distance Sunday’s tragic shooting from Salas’ recent assignment to the Epstein case, which occurred just four days before the tragic shooting.

The most likely reason for any such “damage control” effort lies in the fact that both U.S. law enforcement investigations and mainstream media reports have consistently downplayed the connections of Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual trafficking and financial crimes to intelligence agencies in the U.S. and Israel. Similarly, Roy Den Hollander previously worked for a New York firm has been described as a “private CIA” with ties to those countries’ intelligence agencies and, also, ties to Deutsche Bank.

Palestinians Accuse Israel of Stealing 1500-year-old Christian Relic from Bethlehem

Video footage posted by the PLO showed Israeli forces taking the Byzantine-era artefact from a West Bank town in the middle of the night

Palestinians have accused Israel of an “abominable act of thuggery and cultural appropriation” after a 1500-year-old Christian relic was “stolen” by Israeli forces early on Monday.

Video footage posted online by the PLO Department of Public Diplomacy and Policy showed Israeli forces escorting a large flatbed truck out from the town of Tuqu, in the occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem.

The rare artefact, which dates back to the Byzantine period, was used as a water basin for baptisms and is one of three known relics of its kind.

The other two include one recently discovered at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and another belonging to a church in Beit Jibrin, an ancient Palestinian town left in ruins following Israel’s 1948 invasion.

Revenge against Palestinians is understandable, Israeli judge says in acquitting two security officers who attacked innocent man

Yesterday, an unbelievable verdict came down at the Beersheba District Court in Israel:

Two Israeli security officers were acquitted in a case involving the lynching of Haftom Zarhum, an Eritrean refugee, although they were filmed beating him and repeatedly dropping a bench on his head. The judge cited “reasonable doubt”.

The bloodthirsty mob lynching in October 2015 was part of a string of “mistaken identity” incidents in Israel. A terror attack had in fact taken place earlier at the Beersheba central bus station; a man from an unrecognized Bedouin village in the Negev opened fire, killing a soldier and wounding 11 others.

Zarhum was a passerby, who was mistaken for the shooter by a security guard because he was dark skinned. A police spokesman in the wake of the incident said that it was “not clear if [Zarhum] is involved with the event or if he was shot due to his exterior appearance.”

Zarhum was shot 8 times. Though he had been incapacitated, the mob continued to beat him heavily, shouting “terrorist!”, “Kill him!”, “break his head, son of a bitch!”. The two officers were in that mob. The Times of Israel notes:

“The indictment said that in the aftermath of the attack, [combat soldier Yaakov] Shimba kicked Zarhum in the head and upper body with force. It said [Prison Services officer Ronen] Cohen threw a bench onto him, and after another man removed the bench he took it and again dropped it on the prone man.”

The indictment states that although Zarhum was one of the most seriously wounded in the fracas, he was evacuated to hospital only after all other wounded were evacuated (per Haaretz).

The lynchers celebrated the killing on live TV broadcast, when they still believed that Zarhum was the shooter.

It is important to note, that the autopsy concluded that Zarhum died from his gunshot wounds, not from the beatings, but the beatings were severe. The prosecution stated that “the defendants committed serious acts of violence towards the late citizen Haftom Zarhum, who was already shot, wounded and profusely bleeding, from a motive of vengeance and in order to relieve their anger, and not as the defendants claimed from self-defense”.

Originally, four people were charged in this case, and two of them were civilians. The civilians took a plea bargain in 2018 which downgraded the charge from “causing injury with grave intent” (which entails potential 20 years prison) to “abusing the helpless”. One was sentenced to four months in prison and the other got 100 days of community service and eight months of probation and was ordered to pay NIS 2,000 (approximately $550) compensation to Zarhum’s family.

But the security officers would not take a deal – they pleaded not guilty, and they got what they wanted from the judge – acquittal.

The judge Aharon Mishnayot has a long record as a military legal advisor and judge (from 1990, judge from 1998), and he spent the last part of his military career 2007-2013 as head judge of the military courts in the Occupied West Bank.

Swedish Writer Admits Media Purposely Labelled Those Against Mass Migration As Fascists

Swedish writer Åsa Linderborg, who served as the cultural editor for newspaper Aftonbladet, has admitted the paper would label those against mass migration as fascists to stifle debate.

Linderborg, who is now a senior reporter at the same newspaper, served as the cultural editor from 2009 to 2019 and acknowledged that the newspaper contributed to creating a small window of acceptable opinions in which anyone who disagreed with leftist-liberal ideology would be branded a fascist.

“Everyone who did not want open borders or wanted to talk about integration was branded as fascists,” she said in a recent interview, Nyheter Idag reports.

She went on to talk about a book she had written on populism and the many issues raised by populist parties that the mainstream left has refused to touch.

According to Linderborg, some in the mainstream liberal-left largely turned on her when she spoke to members of the newspaper Nya Tider, an alternative newspaper that has been labelled a so-called “right-wing extremist newspaper” by public broadcaster Sveriges Radio in 2013 for reporting on migrant crime.

During the migrant crisis in 2015, Sweden’s political and media establishment be4came well-known for supporting open borders and mass migration.

In March of the following year, the official Swedish Twitter account, which was formerly managed by a different Swedish citizen every week, hurled expletives and other insults toward anyone critical of open borders.

While Sweden’s public support for mass migration has severely declined in recent years as migrant crime, gang crime and costs of mass migration rise, some on the left still support open borders and are more than willing to label their political opponents as racists for objecting to their ideology.

Earlier this year, members of the Swedish Left Party claimed that Swedish police were racists for cracking down on crimes in no-go areas in Malmö, many of which have high migrant-background populations.

But that would have been the same regardless of who had lived there. If you put people born in Sweden under the same conditions, you get the same result.”

In case you’ve never encountered the junior edition of Vogue, they don’t seem to spend as much time on fashion tips like “7 Vogue Editors on Their Favorite White Shirts” or “Barbara Palvin on Her Everyday Beauty Routine, From Pimple Patches to the Ultimate Eye-Opening Makeup Trick.”

Instead, here’s what’s on Teen Vogue’s front page as of late Saturday night: “Karen Is Being Used by White Women — Here’s Why They Need to Stop,” “‘The Bold Type’ Shouldn’t Endanger Queer Black People for Entertainment” and “Munroe Bergdorf Shares 7 Steps to Change the Beauty Industry for Good.”

If this is the free stuff, just imagine what’s in the actual magazine. I suppose changing the beauty industry for good is, well, good, although given how Teen Vogue defines that word, I’d be wary. As for how “The Bold Type” is endangering queer black people, it turns out “endangering” them involves having a fictional progressive character date a conservative. As for the “Karen” article, I’ll simply leave the title out there and call for summary judgment.

None of this involves beauty tips, pimple patches or white shirts. But at least they’re focusing on the important stuff. Like this article, published July 10: “Black Power Naps Is Addressing Systemic Racism in Sleep.”

Yes, your teens are being told a good night’s rest is now white privilege. For hundreds and hundreds of years, Brittney McNamara reports, black people have been deprived of sleep. As a form of protest against this, Fannie Sosa and Navild Acosta have created Black Power Naps, “an artistic initiative with components including physical installations, zines, an opera, and more.”

“But it’s also a recognition of the hundreds of years of sleep deprivation that Black people and people of color have experienced as a result of systemic racism, a way to pushback against the false stereotype that Black people are lazy, and an investigation of the inequitable distribution of rest,” McNamara wrote. “That lack of sleep has serious consequences.”

“It came from understanding that the American dream is a sleepless one,” Sosa told Teen Vogue. “We inherited this exhaustion.”

Studies have shown that black people tend to get less sleep and less deep sleep than people of other races, according to Teen Vogue. There are obvious health risks associated with that and it’s something Acosta and Sosa are nominally interested in.

Police force announces they won't crack down on shoppers not wearing masks after retailers also said their staff would not intervene

Comes amid criticism of Government's mask rule which comes into force Friday

Retailers say their strained staff cannot be expected to enforce such a rule

A police force has announced they won't crack down on shoppers not wearing masks in stores after retailers also said their staff would not intervene.

Devon and Cornwall police said its officers don't have time to respond to calls about the face coverings, unless they involve a public order offence.

From Friday, masks will be mandatory for people going to shops and other enclosed places in England, with £100 fines in place for non-compliance.

Scotland imposed a facemask rule for shop-goers on July 10, while the devolved governments of Northern Ireland and Wales are still keeping it under review.

The move by Devon and Cornwall police comes amid criticism that Downing Street's latest coronavirus measure is confusing and that shop workers cannot be expected to enforce it.

Alison Hernandez, police and crime commissioner for Devon and Cornwall, was in Truro yesterday meeting with 'street marshalls' who are helping in the policing effort during the pandemic.

Ms Hernandez said: 'The expectation is that they (police officers) will only come if there is disorder or violence or something associated with it, they are not going to come to every phone call that someone is not wearing a mask.

'Partly that will help with the street marshall teams because that will help to encourage people to follow the guidelines as well.'

She added that they'd come up with the idea of 'street marshalls' because having armed response officers patrolling beaches 'looks a bit policey.'

Traveling to New York? Expect to have a “papers, please” encounter with coronavirus contact tracers

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose Twitter page still has an image of him riding on a float at a previous year’s “Pride” parade, has issued an emergency health order that states all travelers to the Empire State from other states will need to “provide their contact information upon arrival” to contact tracers.

In an alleged effort to stymie the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), Cuomo is ordering that all out-of-state travelers “from designated high-COVID states” must comply with his demands or else “receive a summons with a $2k fine.”

“We’re serious about enforcing quarantine,” Cuomo concluded, apparently deaf to the tone of his authoritarian decree.

As is being reported, New York City saw its first 24-hour period with no new cases of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) the other day, which would seem to imply that now is the time to end the lockdowns. But this is not what is happening, thanks to Cuomo.

Instead of reopening the city and getting its economy going once again, Cuomo is instead pushing for more quarantines and more lockdowns, deterring travelers from coming to the city under the threat that they will be told, “papers, please” before being allowed to enter.

Keep in mind that the same day Cuomo made this announcement is when the NYC Mayor’s Office tweeted that no new Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) cases had been detected in the 24 hours prior. Mayor Bill de Blasio even gave a press conference announcing the good news.

As to be expected, Cuomo received considerable backlash on Twitter for once again playing dictator. One user made the sarcastic implication that NYC’s lofty $2,000 fines are going to be used towards defending the city against the barrage of lawsuits that are sure to come.

After in-home Bible studies are banned in new order, a California church slaps Gov. Gavin Newsom with a lawsuit

A network of California churches filed a lawsuit Saturday against Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, alleging that his recent coronavirus lockdown order — which temporarily banned all indoor church operations, including in-home Bible studies — is unconstitutional.

What are the details?

Harvest International Ministry, which has church campuses in Pasadena, Corona, and Irvine, argued in the complaint that churchgoers in California are having their gatherings severely restricted while protesters are being permitted to demonstrate without any restriction, the Washington Times reported.

"While the Governor has unilaterally and significantly restricted the number of individuals permitted to 'gather' in Plaintiffs' churches, he has imposed no similar restrictions on the untold thousands of protesters who have gathered all throughout California cities with no threat of criminal sanction, and no social distancing or restrictions whatsoever," the complaint stated. "And, the Governor explicitly encouraged such large gatherings of protesters while condemning churches for [singing] hymns in their churches."

On July 13, the governor issued a new order restricting indoor activity at a variety of locations in counties on the Monitoring List, including restaurants and bars, shopping malls, and, of course, places of worship.

The order noted that 29 counties accounting for 80% of the state's population were on the list at the time, including Los Angeles County, where Harvest's main campus is located.

"Governor Gavin Newsom cannot disregard the First Amendment and ban all in-person worship in private homes and churches. Nor can the state micromanage the form of worship by banning singing or chanting. The governor is not the High Priest over all religions," Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, the religious liberty legal group representing Harvest in the lawsuit, said in a statement.

"There [are] not two First Amendments — one for protests and one for houses of worship," Staver added. "Gov. Newsom encourages thousands of protesters to gather in the streets but bans in-person worship and home Bible studies and fellowship. This discriminatory treatment is unconstitutional."

In a news release, Liberty Counsel noted that, in addition to in-person worship services, the churches' home Bible studies and fellowship groups are now prohibited under the order.

What else?

On Sunday, Harvest Rock Church, the ministry's main campus, defied the order by holding an in-house worship service.

"I want us to pray right now that we will win that court case," Pastor Ché Ahn said during the service. "No one is above the Constitution. No one is above the law."

"As a pastor, I believe we've been essential for 2,000 years," Ahn later told KCAL-TV, referring to the fact that operations deemed "essential" have been permitted under Newsom's public health orders.

This is not the first time that the California governor has been sued by churches in the state because of his restrictive orders. In April, a group of churches sued Newsom after he banned gatherings of more than 10 people and didn't exempt religious institutions.

Then Fox News reported that another group of churches sued Newsom after he banned singing in places of worship but refused to ban protests.

‘This Is No Longer About George Floyd’: Portland Police Union Boss Claims Elected Officials Are Condoning ‘Destruction And Chaos’

The president of the Portland Police Association ripped elected officials in Oregon for ceding the city’s security to violent rioters and looters.

Portland police union boss Daryl Turner held a press conference in front of the union’s offices in Portland on Sunday, less than a full day after rioters had broken into the building and set fires inside, according to The Oregonian. Video taken after the Saturday night ransacking showed offices strewn with trash and supplies and charred from fires.

“This is no longer about George Floyd. This is no longer about racial equity or social justice. This is no longer about reform or the evolution of policing. This is about violence, rioting, destruction, chaos, anarchy, buildings on fire, dumpsters on fire, broken glass, and damaged businesses,” Turner said.

“It is time to stand up. It is time to tell your elected officials that the city is under siege because of their inaction. Our elected officials have condoned the destruction and chaos of our city. They have invited privilege and entitlement to burn and destroy our buildings, businesses, and livelihoods,” he continued.

Rioters and looters have rocked Portland for nearly two months. The Department of Homeland Security has deployed agents to the city to protect government buildings, but the federal government’s presence has elicited objections from some Oregon officials. Last week, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler blamed the federal government’s presence for stoking more violence in the city.

“My biggest immediate concern is the violence federal officers brought to our streets in recent days, and the life-threatening tactics his agents use. We do not need or want their help,” Wheeler said in a tweet after speaking with DHS Acting Secretary Chad Wolf. “The best thing they can do is stay inside their building, or leave Portland altogether. Our goal is to end these violent demonstrations quickly and safely. And in the meantime, I asked him to clean up the graffiti on local federal facilities.”

The riots have caused an estimated $23 million worth of damage to the city. Wolf appeared on Fox News on Friday and said that he had declined the Portland mayor’s request. Federal agents would remain in the city to protect federal property and arrest violent protesters.

“Earlier this week I called not only the mayor but the governor. I offered DHS support to help them locally address the situation that’s going on in Portland and their only response was, ‘Please pack up and go home,’” Wolf said. “That is just not going to happen on my watch.”

“Whatever the local leadership here is telling us, we’re going to do our job, we are going to do it professionally, but we are not going to have these violent anarchists who show up about the same time every night for a series of hours and having that federal destruction to property,” he added.

Israel approves mobile phone tracking of COVID-19 carriers for rest of year

Israel’s parliament voted on Monday to allow the country’s domestic intelligence agency to track the cellphones of coronavirus carriers for the rest of the year amid a resurgence in new cases, reported Reuters.

The Shin Bet’s surveillance technology has been used on and off to track carriers since March, and the Knesset in a late- night decision approved the measure through January 20, 2021.

The security agency tracks location data of confirmed carriers for 14 days before they were diagnosed. That data is used to identify anyone with whom they came into contact, which proponents say is crucial to infection chains.

The surveillance has drawn challenges from privacy watchdog groups, and the Supreme Court cited worries over dangers to individual liberty in demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government regulate the surveillance through legislation.

House Democratic Leadership Teams Up With Republicans To Keep US Troops in Afghanistan

House soundly defeats amendment by Ilhan Omar that would establish plan for withdrawal from Afghanistan

By a vote of 284-129, the House of Representatives soundly defeated an amendment to establish a plan to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan. A slight plurality of Democrats supported the measure, with most of the leadership opposing. All Republicans except two voted in to oppose. Libertarian Justin Amash supported the measure. The amendment to the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was offered by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

President Trump declared in late May that he wanted to withdraw all US troops from Afghanistan before the November election. Since that time, Democratic leaders have shifted to an even more hawkish position, pulling out all the stops to prevent such a move. Much of the foreign policy of the Democratic leadership has been driven by opposition to Trump’s positions, rather than by what is best for the country or what the American people desire.

American troops have been fighting in Afghanistan for 19 years, with no progress in reducing violence.

White House considers drug pricing executive order, prompting GOP pushback

The White House is considering one or more executive orders aimed at lowering drug prices that could come as soon as this week, prompting pushback from some GOP lawmakers and the powerful pharmaceutical industry.

One idea under discussion, sources say, is to link some U.S. drug prices to the lower prices paid overseas, an idea that is opposed by many Republicans, who see it as a price control that violates free-market principles.

The looming executive action comes a little more than three months from the election, on an issue that is key to voters. Democrats have been pounding Republicans on the issue of health care, pointing to a President Trump-backed lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act, and executive action on drug prices could be a way for Trump to try to counter on the issue.

But it remains unclear what exactly, if anything, will be finalized. And even once any executive orders are issued, as soon as the end of this week, it will take time for the regulatory process to unfold, meaning it is unclear what can go into effect before the election.

The idea to link some drug prices to lower prices in other countries is said to be a variation of an idea Trump previously floated in 2018, before the midterm elections, called the International Price Index. The new variation is sometimes referred to as a “most-favored nation” clause, allowing the U.S. to get the best price of any developed country on drugs, but the details are not clear.

Some congressional Republicans have been calling the White House in recent days to raise objections to the proposal, sources say, an effort spurred on by the pharmaceutical industry, which is rallying to try to stop the idea.

Another idea, in what could be a range of executive orders on drug prices, is reviving a previously-scrapped administration effort to ban discounts, known as “rebates,” that drugmakers pay to negotiators known as pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). The idea is to simplify a convoluted drug pricing system and provide incentives for drugmakers to lower the sticker prices of their drugs. Politico first reported some details of these discussions.

Drug companies support that idea, but it is fiercely opposed by insurance companies and the PBMs themselves, who are now also rallying to try to stop the proposal, pointing to projections that it could raise premiums in an election year.

Greece sentences 2 Russian sailors to 253 years in prison for migrant smuggling

MOSCOW, July 21. /TASS/. Two Russian sailors have been sentenced to 253 years behind bars each for transporting illegal migrants and human trafficking, Vice President for Russia’s United Nations Human Rights Committee office Ivan Melnikov told TASS.

"Konstantin Semenov and Ivan Voznikovtsev were sentenced to 253 years in prison for facilitating illegal migration, human trafficking and illegal crossing of the Greek border," he said, adding that this sentence equals around 20 years behind bars according to the Russian Criminal Code. Melnikov emphasized that this harsh punishment arises from the fact that the justice system sentenced the sailors to between 7 and 12 years in prison for each migrant, while punishment for other crimes was added on top of that.

The human rights official noted that the Russians pleaded not guilty. According to the sailors, they arrived in Turkey previously to work, as they were promised 2,000 euros each a month and paid meals for working on a cruise yacht to sail with tourists. "After completing training, the Russians sailed into the sea, but their yacht repeatedly broke down, and they notified the employer about it. However, instead of a boat with spare parts, illegal migrants showed up on flotation devices in the specified point. The employer threatened the sailors, while the migrants climbed aboard," Melnikov stressed. As a result, Semenov and Voznikovtsev had to let the people in, moving slowly along the coastline, trying to draw attention f coast guards in every way possible. When officers finally approached the yacht, Russians were detained and later accused of migrant smuggling.

CHICAGO MAYOR SAYS ILLINOIS HOUSE SPEAKER SHOULD STEP DOWN IF ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE

The Chicago Tribune reported today that Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said if allegations involving Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, who for decades has been at the controls of whether legislation lives or dies inside the state Capitol, and the state’s largest utility Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) are true then he should step down.

Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor, went further in her comments on Monday than she did previously and echo the sentiments of Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and a bloc of progressive lawmakers in Madigan’s House Democratic caucus.

Federal prosecutors said electric utility ComEd has agreed to pay $200 million to resolve a federal criminal investigation into a long-running bribery scheme that implicates Madigan. They say the company has admitted that from 2011 to 2019 it arranged for jobs and vendor subcontracts “for various associates of a high-level elected official for the state of Illinois.”

The alleged bribery scheme was orchestrated “to influence and reward the official’s efforts to assist ComEd with respect to legislation concerning ComEd and its business,” prosecutors said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office identified the high-level elected official as “Public Official A” in a news release. A deferred prosecution agreement for ComEd filed in federal court states that “Public Official A” is the Illinois House speaker, but Madigan, a Chicago Democrat who is the longest-serving state House speaker in modern American history, is not mentioned by name.

“The speaker has a lot that he needs to answer for, to authorities, to investigators, and most importantly, to the people of Illinois,” Pritzker said during a stop in suburban Chicago. “If these allegations of wrongdoing by the speaker are true, there is no question that he will have betrayed the public trust and he must resign.”

But, Mayor Lori Lightfoot also told the Tribune that she stopped short of calling for him to step down because he hasn’t been charged with a crime.

Madigan, who also serves as chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois, denied wrongdoing through a party spokesperson, who said he received subpoenas for documents Friday morning.

Planned Parenthood's New York chapter acknowledges its racist roots

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is removing the name of Margaret Sanger, the founder of the nation's largest abortion provider, from its New York City clinic due to her "harmful connection to the eugenics movement," the group said Tuesday.

The announcement comes after more than 350 current and former staffers at the Manhattan clinic, as well as 800 donors, supporters and volunteers, called Sanger "a racist, white woman." An open letter on June 18 to Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, criticized the organization as "steeped in white supremacy," the Washington Times reports.

For decades, pro-life activists pointed out Sanger's racism, but in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, Planned Parenthood said it is addressing the problem.

Men’s Wearhouse Parent Company to Close 500 Stores

The parent company of Men’s Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank announced hundreds of store closures and a round of layoffs as its business continues to reel from the CCP virus pandemic.

Tailored Brands, which also owns Moores Clothing for Men and K&G, announced that it would eliminate about 20 percent of its corporate workforce by the end of the second quarter.

The firm’s CEO placed the blame for the closures on the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdowns that were initiated to curb the virus’s spread.

“Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its significant impact on our business, further actions are needed to help us strengthen our financial position so we can navigate our current realities,” said Tailored Brands President and CEO Dinesh Lathi in a news release.

About 500 stores will be shut down across the United States, the firm said. It did not give a timetable.

“While today’s announcement is a difficult one, we are confident these are the right next steps to protect our business and position us to more effectively compete in today’s environment,”

On July 21, a gunman took 20 people hostage on a bus in the city of Lutsk in western Ukraine. The attacker is armed and claims he has rigged the bus with explosives and planted a bomb in the city. He also fired several shots from inside the vehicle. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

SWAT and Police units cordoned the site of the incidents and started negotiations with the attacker. However, despite the possible threat of an explosion, an intense traffic can be seen on the videos from the site.

Police told media that the suspect has identified himself as ‘Maxim Plohoi’ (Maxim Bad), but has not made any concrete demands as of yet. The attacker claims to be a writer of the book called “Philosophy of a Criminal”. He was reportedly treated for mental illness in the past.

Local media say that the real name of the attacker is Maxim Krivosh. The gunman also had a Twitter account in which he posted several comments ‘against the system’. A few hours after the start of the incident in Lutsk, the account was suspended.

FBI Arrests Ohio House Speaker, Former GOP Chairman in Alleged $60M Bribery Scheme

After an FBI raid this morning at the farm owned by Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder, federal officials arrested Householder and several other prominent Ohio Republicans, including Matt Borges, former chairman of the Ohio Republican Party.

U.S. Attorney David DeVillers confirmed Householder’s arrest but refused to discuss the case. A press conference has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. to announce the charges. A spokesperson for DeVillers described the case to reporters as a “public corruption racketeering conspiracy involving $60 million.”

The 84-page FBI complaint remains under seal ahead of planned federal court appearances in Cincinnati this afternoon.

A source told PJ Media that the case is connected to House Bill 6, a controversial energy bill that bailed out nuclear and coal-powered plants while reducing green energy mandates, which Householder, a Republican, shepherded through the Ohio House.

In addition to Householder and Borges, several others were arrested: lobbyists Neil Clark and Juan Cespedes, and Jeffrey Longstreth, an advisor to Householder.

H.B. 6, which was signed into law in late 2019, levied fees on the bills of Ohio electricity customers. The money, $150 million annually, was then to be redistributed to the struggling Davis-Bessie and Perry nuclear power plants and a pair of coal-burning power plants—one located in Indiana—owned by Ohio Valley Electric Corp.

First Energy Solutions, owner of the nuclear plants, filed for bankruptcy in March 2018, blaming the availability of cheap natural gas for its financial woes. The company spent $2.7 million that year on PR and lobbying firms hoping to get a bailout from the state.

As H.B. 6 made its way through the legislature, proponents and opponents of the measure mounted major public relations campaigns, sinking millions into ads. Cleveland.com:

Generation Now, the dark-money group that spent $1 million on helping Householder get elected as House speaker, as of Thursday had bought or reserved $4.6 million worth of pro-HB 6 radio and TV ads that have run across the state — according to FCC records compiled by an ad-tracking firm in Ohio. The ads were placed by The Strategy Group, a prominent Columbus political consulting firm that supported Householder’s leadership bid.

The group also has spent between $12,000 and $60,000 promoting the ads on Facebook.

The ads encourage viewers to call their state representatives and encourage them to support the “Ohio Clean Air Program.” One ad ominously warns of “Washington lobbyists, big money and dark deals” that are “working to stop the Ohio Clean Air program” so they can create an energy monopoly for Big Oil.

Groups opposing HB6, including those funded by the oil and natural gas industry, have their own ads, and have spent around $540,000 on them.

It’s long past time for the corruption to be rooted out of the Ohio statehouse once and for all—and for an infusion of new blood in the House.

Syrian Arab Army Captured Small Black Hornet 3 Spy Drone In Northeastern Syria

Troops from the Syrian Arab Army reportedly captured a FLIR Systems Black Hornet 3 drone.

These very-small scale spy drones are being increasingly used by various sides, including the US military. It is a way to provide small unites with increased situational awareness.

The photograph was first published on July 19th, and pro-Syrian government sources reported that the SAA had captured the small drone near the town of Tal Tamr in the country’s northeastern Al Hasakah Governorate, which borders Turkey to the north and Iraq to the south.

The Black Hornet 3, also known as the Personal Reconnaissance System (PRS), is the latest in the Black Hornet series, which Prox Dynamics first put on the market in the early 2010s. FLIR Systems subsequently bought Prox Dynamics in late 2016.

It is unknown which side was operating the drone, but in 2019, the US began issuing Black Hornet 3 drones to various units. US special forces also have been operating versions of the drone since 2015, and they are known to operate in Syria and other parts of the Middle East.

Other members of the US-led coalition against ISIS also operate small drones, such as France also used similar drones, but it is unclear if they use this specific type.

Who is operating the drone aside, it’s range of control is approximately 2 miles, which means that US-led coalition forces are operating close to SAA and Russian units in Syria, or the technology has been provided to terrorists.

In recent weeks increased use of drones in the Syria conflict appear to be sending it into a new phase.

Military Helicopter Crash in Colombia Leaves Six Wounded, 11 Missing, Reports Say
