If you ever needed some insight as to why Bill de Blasio is so colossally incompetent as mayor of New York City, take a look at his lodestar, the guiding model he instantly reaches to for an illuminating quote.

During his weekly appearance on WNYC radio, de Blasio was asked about a recent report that said his “long-held antipathy toward well-heeled private sector interests” was jeopardizing the city’s economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis.

In response, de Blasio admitted that “my focus has not been on the business community and the elites” before adding, “I am tempted to borrow from Karl Marx here.”

Hizzoner then went on to recite from memory a concept expressed in Chapter 1 of the infamous “Communist Manifesto” written by Marx and comrade Friedrich Engels in 1848.

“There’s a famous quote that the ‘the state is the executive committee of the bourgeois’ and I use it openly to say, ‘No,'” de Blasio said.

“I actually read that as a young person and I said, ‘That’s not the way it’s supposed to be.'”

President Trump and HUD Secretary Ben Carson Quietly Eliminate Obama’s Actions Forcing Suburbs to Pay for the Cities

Last night, Stanley Kurtz was interviewed by Mark Levin at FOX News on Life, Liberty and Levin about recent actions taken by President Trump and his brilliant Secretary Ben Carson that help the suburbs. They did this by eliminating a massive rule similar to Obamacare taken by former President Obama that radically undercut the independence of local suburbs.

Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, spoke to Fox News about what he called a “tremendous accomplishment” of the Trump administration, one that the mainstream media apparently failed to notice.

In an interview on “Life Liberty & Levin” that aired Sunday, Kurtz shed light on the “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule,” (AFFH) a law added by former President Barack Obama to the 1968 Fair Housing Act, which the conservative scholar said has aimed to expand federal influence over suburbia.

Russia claims it has successfully tested its own internet

It’s another brick in Russia’s own Great Firewall

Russia has ramped up the balkanization of its technology and infrastructure over the past few months. The government's "sovereign internet" law which allows content to be blocked in an "emergency situation" took effect in November, and President Vladimir Putin recently signed a law that bans the sale of devices without pre-installed Russian apps. Today, Russia's Ministry of Communications announced that it has successfully tested a countrywide alternative to the internet, according to the BBC. How this network functions isn't clear, but the Ministry of Communications claims that users didn't notice any changes to their typical web use during the testing phase.

Countries like China, Iran and Saudi Arabia have already restricted what their citizens can access and how they can communicate with one another on the internet. Russia's project nicknamed Runet presumably follows suit and lets the government filter content through its own censors. Runet "would get ISPs and telcos to configure the internet within their borders as a gigantic intranet, just like a large corporation does," Professor Alan Woodward, a computer scientist at the University of Surrey, said to the BBC. This type of infrastructure would even make it difficult for VPNs to access blocked content. With all that said, it's difficult to tell just how successful this test was, or how far along Russia is in its goal to create its own Great Firewall.

California company, its CEO accused of trying to export US products to benefit Chinese military

A federal grand jury this week indicted the owner of a California company on charges that he and his company schemed to illegally export chemicals made in Rhode Island to a business with ties to the Chinese military.

Broad Tech System Inc., an Ontario, Cali.-based semiconductor equipment and technology company; its CEO and president Tao Jiang, and Bohr Winn-Shih, an equipment engineer, are accused of conspiring to purchase HiPR 6517 Photoresist and HPRD 441 Developer from a Rhode Island manufacturer and then provide false information to the U.S. government and shipping companies to illegally ship the chemicals to a company in China, in violation of the Export Control Reform Act, according to U.S. Attorney Aaron Weisman’s office.

Authorities say that the Chinese company is believed to be involved in the procurement of materials and technology for use by that country’s military. U.S. export regulations restrict the exportation of materials that could contribute significantly to the military potential of other nations or compromise U.S. foreign policy or national security. Photoresist and HPRD are essential in the chip manufacturing process.

The indictment charges Broad Tech, Jiang, 50, of Riverside, California, and Winn-Shih, 63, of Ontario, California, with conspiracy, violation of the Export Control Reform Act, and money laundering conspiracy.

Jiang, who is known as “Jason Jiang”; Broad Tech; and Winn-Shih are accused of providing false information in an effort to ship the chemicals to Nanjing, China-based Electronics Technology Group Corporation 55th Research Institute, which also goes by Nanjing Electronic Devices Institute, CETC Research Institute 55, NEDI, and NEDTEK

Green onions conceal 614 pounds of meth at US-Mexico border, officers say

Meth hidden in boxes of green onions couldn’t foil X-rays and a drug dog at a U.S.-Mexico border crossing, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials say.

Officers stopped a big-rig driven by a 31-year-old Mexican man at the Otay Mesa crossing in San Diego, California, at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, a release says.

An X-ray of the cargo “identified anomalies” within the boxes of produce, according to the release. A drug-detection dog also alerted officers to the shipment.

A search found 614 pounds of methamphetamine in 40 packages mixed in with the green onions, the Customs and Border Patrol release says.

Officers seized the big rig and meth, valued at $1.4 million, the release says.

The driver was turned over to the Department of Homeland Security for further investigation.

Helicopter Crashes Into Tree in Southern Spain, Incident Kills 2 People Aboard, Reports Suggest

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Two people aboard a private helicopter died after it hit a tree in Spain’s southern Seville province on Monday, the Europa Press news agency reported.

According to the outlet, the incident occurred in the Pedrera municipality of Seville at around 08:00 local time [06:00 GMT]. The doctors who rushed to the scene confirmed that two people died.

Pedrera Mayor Antonio Nogales told Europa Press that the helicopter was flying too low, but the reason for this remained unknown.
