Judge agrees to postpone release of secret Ghislaine Maxwell files

A Manhattan federal judge on Wednesday evening agreed to postpone unsealing depositions related to the sex life of Ghislaine Maxwell until the alleged madam can file an appeal.

The order by Judge Loretta Preska will, for two business days, block the release of documents that relate to a deposition Maxwell gave as part of a now-settled civil defamation lawsuit filed against her in 2015 by Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre.

Preska ordered the documents unsealed in a court hearing last week, but gave Maxwell’s legal team a week to file an appeal with the Second Circuit Court.

If the circuit court does not order them to remain sealed, the documents will be made public Monday, according to Preska’s order.

In her memo Wednesday evening, Preska also rejected Maxwell’s request that she reconsider her own decision to unseal the documents.

President Trump told suburban voters in a tweet on Wednesday they will “no longer be bothered or financially hurt” by having low-income housing in their neighborhood after his administration revoked an Obama-era housing rule.

he Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, or the AFFH rule, was designed to eliminate racial disparities in housing by telling jurisdictions that receive housing funds they must assess patterns of housing discrimination and come up with a plan to diminish them.

“I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low income housing built in your neighborhood," Trump tweeted Wednesday. “Your housing prices will go up based on the market, and crime will go down. I have rescinded the Obama-Biden AFFH Rule. Enjoy!”

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rescinded the 2015 rule last week as Secretary Ben Carson said the rule was “unworkable and ultimately a waste of time for localities to comply with.”

It will be replaced by a new rule that reduces the burden of local jurisdictions to prove that they are actively taking steps to address historical patterns of racial segregation in order to qualify for HUD financing.

"Washington has no business dictating what is best to meet your local community’s unique needs,” Carson said.

It's an interesting play to make now. This may hurt him a bit in AA communities. I guess the data indicates Trump has enough AA support to take any hit and/or has enough of suburbia's silent majority, and after the riots were seen this will be considered a life boat.
