Even following protocols in the military didn't stop the coronavirus from spreading

One will not find a greater degree of compliance to a mask mandate than with one placed on military trainees by drill sergeants. That's why, if masks are really the viral placebo their devoted cult worshipers make them out to be, one would expect mask mandates to work wonders in these environments. Except, they didn't work – just like they didn't work in Japan, Hawaii, Israel, California, Miami, or any other place where they've shown near universal compliance for months, yet the virus spread rapidly.

In the military, they don't just virtue signal and wear masks as a symbol. If they are led to believe mask-wearing will work to stop the spread, they will wear them seriously with the boot of the drill sergeant behind them. Yet, despite universal mask wearing, the super social distance rituals, and all precautions imaginable, it failed to stop an outbreak at Fort Benning in Georgia in May.

Here's how the outbreak unfolded, according to Elizabeth Howe of Connecting Vets. About 640 recruits from the 30th AG Battalion and 2nd Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment arrived at Fort Benning in May for training and were immediately tested for COVID-19. Four recruits tested positive and were removed from the group while the remaining soldiers were placed in isolation for 14 days without any training exercises. After the 14-day quarantine, they were all retested and every single one was negative.

Only then did the training commence – with the full panoply of obsessive social distancing measures, including mask wearing. You can imagine that there will never be greater compliance to these rules than during military training. Yet, just eight days later, after one recruit exhibited symptoms, 142 of the trainees tested positive. That is 22% of the entire group isolated and quarantined together. As they were young, none of them were hospitalized and most were asymptomatic.

The case of Fort Benning should have served as a harbinger of what was to come in June with the surge of cases throughout the country, and now, the entire world. You cannot run or hide from God's respiratory viruses that spread as ubiquitously as the flu. However, at the same time, we see God's mercy – that the majority of cases are asymptomatic and there are very few serious cases outside of those who are immunocompromised.

Donald Trump: ‘Crazy Nancy’ Pelosi Blocking Coronavirus Aid for ‘Radical Left’ Bailouts

President Donald Trump said Monday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are blocking the fourth proposed round of aid to Americans suffering the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump said he is personally involved in negotiations with Congress, but he dismissed the idea that he should be meeting personally with “Crazy Nancy” Pelosi to break the logjam.

“What the Democrats want, they’re slow-rolling it and all they’re really interested in is bailout money to bail out radical left governors and radical left mayors,” Trump said.

Trump cited Chicago, Portland, and New York City as examples of poorly run cities that do not deserve a bailout.

“We’re really not interested in that,” Trump said.

He added that Democrats failed to act to help Americans still suffering from the effects of the virus and the economic shutdowns.

“They’re not interested in the people. They’re not interested in unemployment. They’re not interested in evictions,” Trump said.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows publicly criticized congressional Democrats on Friday for refusing to work with Republicans to negotiate a deal, stating they had made “zero offers.”

“The Democrats believe they have all the cards on their side, and they’re willing to play their cards at the expense of those that are hurting,” he said.

The agency's director, Yossi Cohen, didn't deny knowing that the Mossad has been demanding more than the budget is ready to give it, saying at the High Command meeting that he is "pondering the dilemma of the need to do more". Cohen also admitted that the agency's financial needs have expanded as other security agencies' and even the military's needs are denied, but defended that approach by citing the unique situation that Israel and the Mossad are in.

"We are going in the opposite direction and in contrast to the global trend where fewer employees are needed; with the Mossad, it is the opposite", Cohen said.

The situation is a major shift for the agency as, when Cohen first entered office, the Mossad regularly ended a year without even spending all of its funds, with the new director urging the agency to move in a different direction.

The news of the Mossad's exorbitant spending also comes as the Israel Defence Forces are struggling to cope with budgetary cutbacks. As a result, the military has been forced to abandon some of its ambitious weapon and equipment projects to sustain the ongoing ones amid shrinking funds allocated by the government.

Manhattan DA Investigating Trump For Bank, Insurance Fraud In Addition To Hush Money Payments

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. is investigating the Trump Organization for possible bank and insurance fraud, in addition to hush-money payments to several women made on Trump’s behalf, a court filing said Monday.

The Trump legal team has attempted to quash a subpoena for eight years of the president’s personal and corporate tax records from his longtime accounting firm, Mazars LLC. In a complaint on July 27, Trump’s lawyers claimed the subpoena was “wildly overbroad” and issued in “bad faith."

Vance shot back at the accusations in Monday’s filing, saying the claim that the subpoena is overbroad “rests on the false premise that the grand jury’s investigation is limited to so-called ‘hush-money’ payments made by [Trump's personal attorney] Michael Cohen.”

"In light of these public reports of possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization, there was nothing facially improper (or even particularly unusual) about the Mazars Subpoena, which issued in connection with a complex financial investigation, requesting eight years of records from an accounting firm," the filing said. The filing cites a Washington Post article in March 2019 that claimed Trump sent “deeply flawed” documents over-inflating his net worth to convince lenders to provide him with funding.

“As this reporting makes clear, at the time the Mazars Subpoena was issued, there were public allegations of possible criminal activity at Plaintiff’s New York County-based Trump Organization dating back over a decade,” the filing continues.

Cohen told the House Oversight Committee in February 2019 that Trump inflated his net worth by $4 billion in a failed attempt in 2014 to buy the NFL's Buffalo Bills. Cohen also claimed that Trump would deflate his assets to pay less in real estate taxes.

“It was my experience that Mr. Trump inflated his total assets when it served his purposes, such as trying to be listed among the wealthiest people in Forbes, and deflated his assets to reduce his real estate taxes,” Cohen said at the hearing.

Cohen is currently serving the last two years of a three-year prison sentence in home confinement after he pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance laws and lying to Congress. During the 2016 campaign, Cohen paid hush money to two women involved in extramarital affairs with Trump, with the scheme playing a central role in Vance’s investigation.

Cohen has alleged that Trump directed the hush-money payments.

COVID-19 Vaccine Could Mean Regular Injections, No Guarantee Of Immunity

While Dr. Anthony Fauci says he’s hopeful that a COVID-19 vaccine will be available ‘by late fall or early winter,’ it may not be as simple as one jab for a lifetime of immunity, according to the LA Times.

For starters, a COVID-19 vaccine can be released if it’s ‘safe and proves effective’ on as few as 50% of those who receive it, according to recently released federal guidelines. What’s more, the definition of “effective” means that it simply has to ‘minimize the most serious symptoms,’ according to the report.

“We should anticipate the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine to be similar to the influenza vaccine,” said Dr. Kathleen Neuzil, director of the Center for Vaccine Development at the University of Maryland. “That vaccine may or may not keep people from being infected with the virus, but it does keep people out of the hospital and the ICU.”

Because of this, experts say that the first round of COVID-19 vaccines probably won’t eliminate the need for masks, social distancing and other measures. So – after all the promises made by government officials, a vaccine may only reduce symptoms, and may turn into a recurring shot that only works on half the population.

Developing a vaccine capable of inducing “sterilizing immunity” — that is, the ability to prevent the virus from causing an infection — takes time and research, which might not be possible as death tolls continue to rise and the recession grows deeper. Yet with so many companies on the hunt for that vaccine, there is hope one of them might actually achieve it.

Scientists had studied other coronaviruses — SARS and MERS — and mapped the novel coronavirus’ genome not long after the first COVID-19 deaths were recorded. First masks, and now a face shield and goggles? It’s time to resist this madness

A society obsessed with health is a sure sign of sickness. The commands coming down from on high are increasing in their absurdity. Face shields and goggles are next, but there is absolutely zero evidence that any of them work.

Dr Anthony Fauci, the man described as America’s top infectious disease expert, has told the American public, “If you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it.” These are the words of a would-be tyrant, a little Napoleon who lives to boss others around while he flouts his own stupid rules.

For the moment, it is only a recommendation. But the lockdown zealots at The Guardian have kicked off their pro-goggle campaign by having some intern write a fluff piece that ends with the sentence: “It won’t be weird if everyone’s doing it.” In a week, they will have the big guns writing pro-goggle op-eds. In two, police will be fining people not wearing them. Soon, you will be compelled to wear full forensic gear inside your own home.

To quote the leftist millennial self-styled journalists reacting to whatever the day’s outrage is, “I’m just so tired.” I will not deign to revisit the scanty literature on face masks to demonstrate that there is no proper evidence that they stop or even hinder the transmission of the virus. Nor will I do a run-down of the science to show that the chances of catching Covid through your eyeballs are infinitesimally tiny. The burden of proof is on those who have suggested their use or made them compulsory. They will not take up the challenge, because they cannot.

Neither have I the inclination to present facts and figures that render ridiculous the scale of governments’ response to the long-over outbreak. Again, why should I? The evidence of one’s own goggle-free eyes is enough. No one is sick, no one is dying, and no hospitals are inundated owing to Covid. But the elites insist that up is down and the sky is green, and most people swallow it.

After a relatively flat period marked by what could be characterized as benign indifference and neglect, the trade relationship between Russia and China has grown rapidly since 2009 in terms of both imports and exports, although there was a sharp decline during 2014-2015 corresponding to a sharp decline in Russia’s overall GDP and trade volumes.

However, at least as importantly, the growth in trade and other forms of economic cooperation has not just been quantitative but also qualitative, as the governments of both countries have elaborated detailed industrial development strategies and plans over long periods which have channelled both public and private sector investment and production into priority areas.

This is in sharp contrast to the peculiar form of haphazard, opportunistic and hyper-militarized disaster capitalism that has reigned in the US for many years – arguably at least since the 1990s, when US companies began dismantling the US industrial capacity and offshoring production en masse to raise corporate profits, and the US Congress began to dismantle the anti-trust and financial regulatory frameworks that had been established during the Great Depression of the 1930s to limit the volatility and excesses of the financial sector. Maryland Gov. Hogan overrules county mandate for private schools to go virtual

Any future closure would focus on an individual facility deemed unsafe

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Monday revoked the authority of county officials to mandate schools close amid a clash with local health officials.

Local health officials in Maryland's Montgomery County last week made the decision to keep private and parochial schools closed through October for in-person learning, arguing that having students in the classroom would present a danger to pupils and teachers as the state grapples with COVID-19.

But Hogan amended an emergency executive order, which he issued April 5, that allowed local health departments to have the authority to close any individual facility deemed to be unsafe. He called the Montgomery County mandate "overly broad."

"The recovery plan for Maryland public schools stresses local flexibility within the parameters set by state officials," Hogan said in a statement. "Over the last several weeks, school boards and superintendents made their own decisions about how and when to reopen public schools, after consultation with state and local health officials."

"The blanket closure mandate imposed by Montgomery County was overly broad and inconsistent with the powers intended to be delegated to the county health officer," Hogan said, adding that the state’s recovery "continues to be based on flexible, community-based approach that follows science, not politics."

"As long as schools develop safe and detailed plans that follow CDC and state guidelines, they should be empowered to do what’s best for their community," he said, thanking parents, students and school administrators "who have spoken out in recent days about this important issue."
