The broadcast by Walter Cronkite didn't follow what happened in the assassination, but what was written in the 'Warren Report'. The Warren investigation used the contrived live broadcast of Walter Cronkite / Dan Rather to substantiate the timeline of events. The Fake News at CBS was deployed to create a 'false reality'.
