Why does Google own patents regarding extraction of Quinine from Cinchona Bark?

I just stumbled on this by accident when researching HCQ. Basically it seems to be about how to much more efficiently extract Quinine from Cinchona Bark, methods for making a superior therapeutic effect.

Did they file for these patents to bury the info? Appears to be around 2010
