INTRODUCTION:
You have a 95.5% chance of not being shot or injured by a hijacker if you DO NOT FIGHT them.
There are different types of hijackers: Amateurs and Professionals, but both types are human beings and all
human beings are limited in their capabilities. Try to THINK LIKE A HIJACKER and you’re half way there.
1: Hijackers want money money money… cars get them money… we are worthless to them
2: How they react to you, depends on HOW YOU REACT TO THEM
3: There are 2 types of Hijackings
SHORT TERM PLAN - these are done by guys working at an intersection. They watch the cars and look at those
with windows down, doors unlocked, drivers distracted or on cell phones - EASY TARGET!
PLANNED - They identify you, and follow your moves and routine over a few days.
1: ROUTINE CHANGES - Change your route DAILY while driving to work, picking up the kids etc
If they are watching your moves, they will be waiting at certain points that they know you drive past, if you
change your routine/ roads that you drive on, it will confuse them and they will give up on you.
2: KEEP YOUR EYES FAR AHEAD - When approaching a stop street, intersection, gate etc, keep your eyes far
ahead and observe and register what is going on. If there are people hanging around, how many people? and
what are they doing? If they are selling coat hangers or carrying groceries, or walking with children..they are
NOT hijackers…BUT if they are just aimlessly hanging around…BE CAUTIOUS…
3: KEEP MOVING - Slow down when approaching a red robot so you are still moving when it turns green
before having to stop - THIS KEEPS YOU SAFE UP TO 97% OF THE TIME.
Do not approach a red robot fast and then abruptly stop.
97% of Hijackers approach on FOOT, so keep moving at a speed of 20km/hr.

5: SPACE BETWEEN CARS - Stop at a safe distance from the car in front of you. While sitting behind the wheel, you
should be able to see the back tyres hitting the road of the car in front of you.
By keeping this distance, should you need to pull out of the road quickly, you have the space to manouver out in

6: REVERSE PARK - Whilst you are in the car in a parking lot you have to look over your shoulder and reverse out
the parking and then stop to change gears before driving o. Hijackers will approach from behind, SO
when parking up against a wall, gate, fence, REVERSE PARK, this way no matter what happens, you have full
visibility of the area and you can drive out in 1 motion.

7: ELECTRIC GATES - When approaching your home, DO NOT turn into the drive and wait for the gates to open…
Drive up and ‘idle’ parallel to the gate and wait for them to open. This way you can then turn slightly and drive
through, but should something happen, you have the option of driving forwards or reversing or doing a U Turn in
the road to get away from Hijackers.
8: CUT BUSHES AND TREES - Cut bushes and trees down to prevent hijackers from hiding behind them. If you
cannot do that, then trim the branches and leaves from the bottom of the tree so that a single trunk is exposed,
therefore if someone is hiding..you will see an extra ‘trunk’ and be alerted.
ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE, SLOW, MOVING OR STOPPED!
Every time you slow down keep a look out…
97% of hijackers work on foot, so keep a look out on every stop street/robot on your route..
if you are turning right…the potential hijacker will be on the right hand side of the road. If you are turning
left, the potential hijacker will be on the left hand side of the road… BE AWARE..
1: WHAT IS HE DOING? - If there are a few guys on the road side..look at each person carefully…
if one is selling things..no he’s not a HJ,
if he’s got children with him…no he’s not a HJ (children make HJackers nervous)
if he’s carrying packets…no he’s not a HJ
if he’s leaning on the lamp post just looking around, doing nothing and holding nothing…BE SUSPICIOUS and
WATCH HIM BACK!
2: HE WILL BE WATCHING A DRIVER - to see if their windows are down, if they are on their cell phones, if they are
distracted and looking elsewhere and or talking to kids/passengers in the car…
3: IF HE IS WATCHING YOU.. our reaction would be to WATCH HIM BACK!
Approach SLOWLY and STOP 40m AWAY from him…KEEP YOUR SPACE BETWEEN HIM AND YOU.. if you are stopped
40m away from the intersection and him..he will not hijack you. If he does try to..then you have 40m to accelerate
and drive away.
99.9% reason for our own hijacking is if we drive up to the intersection fast and stop and then chat to passengers,
we are distracted and LOOKING AWAY and its easy to then turn to nd a gun at your driver’s window and by then
its too late to do anything.
The hijacker will be at an intersection just waiting for the right opportunity..
You need to KEEP YOUR EYES FAR AHEAD AND OBSERVE AND REGISTER THE DETAIL, KEEP A SPACE BETWEEN
YOU & THE INTERSECTION.

1: FAKE ACCIDENTS - people lying of the roadside and you want to stop to help them. BEFORE STOPPING LOOK FOR:
signs of blood, damaged vehicles and at least 3 tow trucks…IF NONE OF THESE ARE PRESENT…ITS A SET UP
2: PETROL STATIONS - Hijackers wait for you to ll up your car and then attack..
KEEP KEYS IN IGNITION, should there be a problem you can just drive o.. The petrol pump is designed to release
from your tank should you accelate and drive away.
If you have to hand your keys to the petrol assistant, make sure you keep a spare key in your car which you can
immediately insert into your ignition while refueling so should you need to drive o, you can.
3: INTERSECTIONS -There are 2 methods:
ON FOOT - details discussed previously
BUMP FROM BEHIND at a STOP street or ROBOT - a car will bump you gently from behind but enough for you to
stop, get out and go see the damage. THIS IS WHEN THE PASSENGER from the car that bumped you has the
opportunity to jump into your car and drive away!!
You must ALWAYS watch the people in the car travelling behind you. In a hijacker’s car, there will always be 2 people,
1 to distract you and 1 to jump into your car.
If you are suspicious of them and they bump you, dont stop…just drive o fast.
4: GATES - FIND HIM FIRST BEFORE HE FINDS YOU. Keep a look out behind trees and bushes etc.
1: DONT MAKE EYE CONTACT - look over the hijacker’s shoulder (if you look him in the eye he thinks you are
challenging him…this is the last thing you want to do as the hijacker will feel out of control and more than
likely will shoot you/injure you)
2: DONT STAND SIDEWAYS - the hijacker cannot see what you may possibly be hiding in your waistband like a gun.
STAND FACE ON facing the hijacker, but DO NOT LOOK AT THE GROUND, LOOK OVER HIS SHOULDER.
3: DONT ARGUE OR RESIST - do not challenge the hijacker, call him names, swear at him or argue. Remember he is
already anxious and can shoot you at any time, keep yourself calm and try to keep the hijacker calm.
4: DONT BECOME A THREAT - put up your hands and show him both your hands are free, this reduces the chance of
the hijacker becoming violent.
5: TALK - talk to him and tell him EVERY move you make so that he knows what you are doing at all times.
Tell him that you are going to use your right hand to release the seat belt, you are going to open the door etc..
If you dont tell him what you are doing and suddenly you open the cubbie hole..he immediately assumes you are
getting a weapon out and he will shoot you.

1: DO NOT LEAVE THE KEYS AND KIDS IN THE CAR UNATTENDED!!!
2: IF YOU GET OUT OF YOUR CAR, TAKE YOUR KIDS WITH YOU.
3: Put CHILD LOCK OFF -and teach your children that they are NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE.
If something happens be it a hijacking, a car accident and the car has caught re or has rollen down an
embankment into a river and others cannot get to the car to help…the people in the back cannot open
the doors to get out.
4: TEACH YOUR KIDS TO GET OUT WHEN YOU SHOUT ‘LEFT’!! - Train your children how to react in a hijacking,
when you shout ‘LEFT’ they must move over to the left hand side and get out of the left hand side door and
WALK AWAY…
Hijackers do not want your children, children make him anxious. When your children are hysterical on the back seat
and there is a hijacker at your window who is already anxious… YOU HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM!!
You have to try keep yourself calm and the children calm and the hijacker calm.
5: REMOVING BABIES/CHILDREN FROM CAR SEATS - DO NOT ASK BUT TELL THE HIJACKER that you are opening
the back door and removing your child.OR do so from the front seat.
Use 1 hand only to unclip the car seat belt and grab the child by its arm or front by its clothes and pull them out.
You need the child out alive, if there is an injury while pulling the child out, you can get it xed by the doctor,
but if the hijacker takes the child with the car, you wont see your child again.
6: CHILD SEAT - place the child seat in the middle of the back seat so that there is room/space of each side of the seat
to act as protection buer in case of collision

The hijacker will be on the right hand side of your car…so kids are safer on the left
