$5.7 Million In Cocaine Found Smuggled In Boxes Of Yams At Gatwick Airport Near London
Almost $6 million in cocaine was discovered by British authorities at Gatwick Airport, near London, this month. According to the UK’s National Crime Agency, three separate seizures were made, with the first occurring on August 11.
The incoming flights were all from Jamaica. On the first flight, about 22 kilos of the drug were found "in a consignment of vegetables that had come off a flight from Kingston," according to the agency.
A second seizure was made from the same flight one week later on August 18, this time carrying 30 kilos of cocaine.
Finally, a third seizure was made on August 25, again on a flight from Kingston. The cocaine on the third flight amounted to about 3 kilos and was "suspended in a liquid solution".
NCA Branch Commander Mark McCormack commented: "Working with our colleagues at Border Force we are determined to do all we can to stop class A drugs reaching the streets of the UK, where they can cause so much damage. These seizures are an example of that in action, and our investigations are ongoing.

UAE leader signs decree ending boycott of Israel, furthering Trump-mediated deal
The United Arab Emirates has abolished a 1972 law that banned any deals with Israel, paving the way for signing a series of bilateral agreements with the Jewish state.
A decree cancelling the Israel boycott law was signed by UAE President, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Saturday. This makes it legal for Emirati subjects, companies and organizations to have relations with counterparts in Israel.
Residents in the UAE will be able to travel to Israel, conduct business with Israeli companies and participate in other engagements.
The decree furthers the normalization agreement signed by the UAE and Israeli earlier this month and announced by the US, which played the role of a mediator. The two nations agreed to establish formal diplomatic relations and establish a framework for bilateral ties.
The development sparked controversy in the Arab world, with some nations like Turkey accusing Abu Dhabi of betraying the Palestinian cause for egoistic gains. The normalization agreement said Israel would put on hold the proposed annexation of occupied Palestinian territories, but Isreali Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu de facto disavowed the provision, saying his government’s plans did not change.
The UAE has had no formal relations with Israel since its creation as a sovereign federacy of seven Arab monarchies in the early 1970s. Sheikh Khalifa, who is also the emir of Abu Dhabi, has served as the Emirati president since 2004, when he replaced his father, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Sexual assault criminal complaint against Jacob Blake emerges in its entirety — and it is horrific

Details of a a highly disturbing criminal complaint against Jacob Blake have emerged.
A Kenosha, Wisconsin, police officer shot Blake in the back at least seven times on Sunday following a call for a domestic dispute. His father told the Chicago Sun-Times that Blake is paralyzed from the waist down.
Blake's shooting only added fuel to the already out-of-control fire lit by the police killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others involved in instances of apparent police brutality.
What are the details?
Blake's ex-girlfriend, identified in the criminal complaint as "LNB," says Blake sexually assaulted her in May.
The criminal complaint states that Blake unlawfully entered her home in the early hours of the morning on May 3. The woman said she awoke from her sleep to find Blake standing in her room, looming over her.
Blake, the 29-year-old father of the woman's three children, reportedly demanded she return his possessions.
"I want my s***," Blake reportedly told the woman, and proceeded to assault her according to the complaint.
"As LNB lay there, on her back, the defendant, suddenly and without warning, reached his hand between her legs, penetrated her vaginally with a finger, pulled it out and sniffed it, and said, 'Smells like you've been with other men,'" the at-times graphic complaint reads.
Following the assault, Blake reportedly stole her vehicle and left the premises.
In the complaint, the woman reports that Blake is unemployed and without a vehicle of his own. Over the eight-year period that the two spent together, Blake reportedly sexually assaulted her at least twice per year during drunken episodes.
Caused 'pain and humiliation'
The officer who took the woman's statement said she had a "very difficult time telling him this and cried as she told how the defendant assaulted her."
The woman said that Blake's assault "caused her pain and humiliation and was done without her consent."
Blake's ex-girlfriend told authorities that she was able to maintain her composure despite the incident, and attempted to follow Blake. When she realized her keys and her vehicle were missing and immediately phoned 911 to report the incident.
Authorities charged Blake in July with felony third-degree sexual assault, misdemeanor trespassing, and disorderly conduct connected to domestic abuse.

Florida Official Arrested for Using Govt Databases to Engage in Child Sex Trafficking
Seminole County, FL — The former Seminole County Tax Collector, Joel Greenberg is facing a slew of charges this month over accusations that he used his position of authority to engage in child sex trafficking. He also faces stalking charges for allegedly using his position to go after political opponents.
Greenberg has been under fire since June when he was arrested on federal stalking charges. He allegedly stalked opponents, and made fake social media accounts in order to start rumors about his political opponent and paint the victim as a white supremacist.
The new allegations, however, are for crimes against children. According to the new federal indictment, Greenberg used fake IDs for individuals he was involved in “sugar daddy relationships” with and to engage in “commercial sex acts.”
This month he was indicted on six new charges for the alleged sex trafficking of an underage girl. According to the indictment Greenberg illegally used a state database to look up information about the girl and other people with whom he was engaged in “sugar daddy” relationships.
At the time of the alleged crimes, ranging from March to November 2017, Greenberg knowingly recruited and solicited a minor to engage in sex acts, according to the indictment. The victim was between 14 and 17 years old, according to the federal indictment.
“We absolutely deny the allegations,” Vincent Citro, Greenberg’s defense attorney said. “The government will not be able to prove its case. We look forward to prevailing at trial.”
However, the evidence against him is pretty damning.

During a search of the home, agents confiscated electronic equipment from the home, including Greenberg’s and his wife’s cell phones and computers, according to court documents.
Inside a backpack that was on a seat in Greenberg’s vehicle belonging to the Tax Collector’s Office, agents found several fake IDs, according to court records. Agents also found materials used to create fake IDs at Greenberg’s office at the Tax Collector’s administrative office in Lake Mary.
Not only is Greenberg accused of using his position of authority to prey on children, he’s also accused of using his position for personal financial gain. An investigation by the Orlando Sentinel discovered that Greenberg doled out $1.9 million in contracts and salaries to close friends, business partners and others to work in the Tax Collector’s Office, including half-a-dozen individuals who were part of his wedding party in mid-2016.

In a previous article, I discussed the extreme heat that we have been seeing in the region lately. Phoenix has never had more days in a year when the high temperature has hit at least 115 degrees, and other southwestern cities have been smashing records as well. At the same time, precipitation levels have been very low, and the combination of these two factors is starting to cause some major problems.

Armed with knives, some knowledge of their prey and a large dose of cruelty, attackers are going after horses and ponies in pastures across France in what may be ritual mutilations.
Police are stymied by the macabre attacks that include slashings and worse. Most often, an ear – usually the right one – has been cut off, recalling the matador’s trophy in a bullring.
Up to 30 attacks have been reported in France, from the mountainous Jura region in the east to the Atlantic coast, many this summer, the agriculture minister said Friday. One attack was registered in February, according to the newsmagazine Le Point. With each attack, the mystery only seems to grow.
“We are excluding nothing,” Agriculture Minister Julien Denormandie said Friday on France-Info, before heading to a riding club in the Saone-et-Loire region, in east-central France, where a horse was attacked a day earlier.
“Ears are cut off, eyes removed, an animal is emptied of its blood,” he said, spelling out the morbid fates befalling one of France’s most beloved animals.
“All means are in motion to end this terror,” the minister tweeted.

After the first solid sighting of an attacker, gendarmes in Auxerre, in Burgundy, released a composite sketch this week based on a description by a man who wrangled with two attackers at his animal refuge in a village in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte region.
“I used to have confidence putting my horses out to pasture. Today, I have fear in my gut,” Nicolas Demajean, who runs the refuge, Ranch of Hope,” said Thursday on regional TV station France 3.
Alerted by his squealing pigs, Damajean faced down two attackers last Monday. He himself was injured in the arm in a struggle with one intruder wielding a pruning knife as the other slashed the sides of two ponies, now recovering but “traumatized,” he said. The men fled in a vehicle.
The following day, an attacker or attackers bled a young pony in the Saone-et-Loire. In another case, some of a horse’s organs were removed.

Speculation is widespread as to how barbaric acts, some surgical, could be perpetrated without solid knowledge of equine anatomy or on a horse in a pasture presumably able to flee.

Report: £100 Million of Swedish Taxpayer Cash Went to Radical Islamic Groups
A study has revealed that 49 companies and groups run by Islamic radicals have done businesses with local and national Swedish authorities and have been paid 1.2 billion Swedish kronor (£104,136,000/$137,400,000).
The taxpayer cash has been paid to the groups and companies over the last five years, with some of the people involved in the companies being open radical Salafists while others are said to have been violent Islamic radicals who fought abroad for terrorist groups like the Islamic State.
According to a report from newspaper Aftonbladet, the majority of the cash came from school funding from local municipalities and grants from the Swedish National Agency for Education.
The Sapphire school in Gothenburg, which was shut down due to links to radical Islamic extremists in December of last year, raised the most government cash, along with the parent co-operative Bilaalm based in Norrland.

Terrorism expert Magnus Ranstorp slammed the government for not knowing where taxpayer money was actually going and said that radical Islamic extremists often prioritise schooling.
“Of course there is a purely financial purpose, to make money. Then it’s about the advocacy aspect and about isolating young people from the non-religious community,” he said.
The report is not the first time it has been revealed that Swedish taxpayer money has gone toward radical Islamic extremists.
Last year, the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) reported that radical Islamists were receiving taxpayer cash, but estimated the amounts to be in the millions of kronor and not over a billion.
“To reduce growth in extremist communities, society needs to prevent organisations that contribute to radicalisation from receiving public funds. The state should not fund activities that undermine our democracy by supporting violent extremism,” Johan Olsson, the Operational Manager at Säpo said at the time.
In 2016, it was also reported that Sweden was paying welfare benefits to a Swedish Islamic convert who had travelled to Syria to fight for the Islamic State.

160 Cartel-Connected Human Smuggling Stash Houses Busted in South Texas this Year
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials report the disruption of more than 160 human smuggling stash house operations this fiscal year just in South Texas. The data provides a rare glimpse into the level of Mexican cartel stash house operations occurring in this region alone.

In the tweet, CBP reported that in South Texas alone in Fiscal Year 2020, which still has two months left in the year, the agency has already dismantled an astounding 160 stash houses and rescued over 1,600 people.
Stash house data is considered a gold mine by law enforcement officials and is routinely requested and sought after by elected leaders, journalists, and citizens attempting to understand the breadth of scope of smuggling and trafficking by criminal networks along the southwest border. Gaining access to data is often difficult.
The data on stash house operations is important because it indicates the level of cartel logistics occurring inside the U.S. Human smuggling operations are the life blood of the Mexican cartels’ smuggling and trafficking networks at the border. Smugglers along the border use a vast network of halcones, also known as falcons or hawks (lookouts) which extend over twenty miles into the United States in south Texas.
The scouts utilize two-way handheld encrypted radios and encrypted apps on cell phones like Zello. The scouts communicate directly back to Mexican smuggling and trafficking cells that work directly in collaboration with the Mexican cartels.
This network is how hundreds of thousands of pounds of illegal drugs and hundreds of thousands of people are smuggled across the border into the United States every year as they attempt to evade apprehension by law enforcement.
The goal for these criminal networks is to get the product (drugs or humans) across the border and into a stash house as quickly and rapidly as possible in order to evade law enforcement. Stash houses are an important component in smuggling as they provide a blanket that masks criminal activity along the border.

1,300 Pounds of Cocaine Seized, 4 Dominican Migrants Busted at Puerto Rico Beach
Border Patrol agents in Puerto Rico and local police intercepts a large load of cocaine and arrested four illegal aliens from the Dominican Republic. The failed smuggling attempt resulted in the seizure of nearly $15 million worth of cocaine.
Border Patrol agents teamed up with the Puerto Rico Police Department Joint Forces for Rapid Action (FURA in Spanish) to interdict a “yola” vessel with four illegal aliens onboard, according to information obtained from Ramey Sector Border Patrol officials. The four Dominican nationals were reportedly attempting to smuggle drugs onto the beach near Rincon, Puerto Rico.
The Ramey Station Border Patrol agents detected the yolo vessel running without lights on Thursday. The boat appeared to be located about six nautical miles west of Rincon, officials reported. Agents requested assistance from a FURA marine unit with intercepted the 20-foot fiberglass homemade boat and found four people on board along with a load of drugs.
The FURA marine unit brought the boat to shore where Border Patrol agents met them at the Añasco pier where they interviewed the four migrants. The agents identified the four adult males as citizens of the Dominican Republic who were attempting to enter the United States illegally.
Officials identified the drugs as testing positive for cocaine. The 1,303 pounds of cocaine is worth an estimated $14.8 million, officials reported.
The agents turned the drugs and the four illegal aliens over to ICE Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation and processing of drug smuggling charges.
The FURA team is funded on these types of operations by the Operation Stonegarden Grant Program (OPSG). The program helps with cooperation and coordination between federal and local, tribal, state law enforcement agencies, Border Patrol officials stated.
“We will continue to disrupt and apprehend smugglers that attempt to smuggle people and narcotics across our borders,” Xavier Morales, Chief Patrol Agent for the Ramey Sector, said in a written statement. “Having a dedicated workforce partner up with other professionals dedicated to the border security mission is the key to success. Great job by all.”

Report: Paedophiles on Twitter and Instagram Using Cheese and Pizza Emojis to Share Images
A London-based group of over 100 parents have begun campaigning to have social media sites like Instagram and Twitter remove the accounts of paedophiles who are reportedly using cheese and pizza emojis as code to share images.
The group — operating under the moniker PDProtect — warned that paedophiles are taking and sharing seemingly innocent pictures of children uploaded by parents in order to pass them around to predators on social media.
A 27-year-old mother from London who founded the project, referred to only as India, told The Telegraph: “I couldn’t just scroll past it as at the end of the day these are people’s children.
“There are pictures of little boys aged five or six on the beach in their swimming trunks and chances are that picture was taken by their parents on their holiday. Somehow that picture has gotten into their hands,” she explained.
India said that she has been in talks with Instagram over the issue, noting that many of the accounts her team flagged were using cheese and pizza emojis together as code for ‘CP’ — child pornography.
An online child protection expert and former member of the British government’s Council for Internet Safety, John Carr OBE, said that the “horrifying” practise needs to be stamped out by tech companies.
“It is understandable that parents want to share pictures of their children with friends and relatives, but if their social media accounts are not private these photos can be seen — and taken — by anyone,” Carr warned.
“This is about parents not thinking because they are not aware that these bad guys are out there doing this,” he added.
In response to the revelations, the Head of Safety at Instagram told The Telegraph: “Any content that endangers children is abhorrent and we’re committed to doing everything we can to keep it off our apps.”
“We remove accounts that share or solicit this type of content and report them to the police. We also use technology that’s constantly improving to find and remove known child exploitation imagery,” she claimed.
“We’ve been working with India to investigate and remove the accounts she’s identified and we’re grateful for her help,” she went on to say.
A spokesman for Twitter added: “Twitter has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual exploitation content. We aggressively fight online child sexual abuse and have heavily invested in technology and tools to enforce our policy.
“Our dedicated teams work to stay ahead of bad-faith actors and to ensure we’re doing everything we can to remove content, facilitate investigations, and protect minors from harm — both on and offline,” Twitter said.

21 Police Injured After 200 Migrants Riot in Spanish City
At least 33 migrants housed in a temporary reception centre in the Spanish city of Melilla were arrested after a riot broke out that led to 21 police officers becoming injured.
The riot came after a second day of protests by migrants over positive cases of the Chinese coronavirus among some of the reception centre’s residents.
At least 200 migrants took part in the rioting, with the angry mob assaulting Spanish police officers by throwing rocks. At least two migrants were also injured during the violence, La Voz de Galicia reports.
Spanish populist party VOX posted footage of the riot on Twitter, and the party’s leader Santiago Abascal commented: “The progressive dictatorship presents them to us as poor victims, but their violence and the consequences of the invasion are suffered by the guards and ordinary Spaniards. The invaders must be deported.”

Local police say the rioters caused significant damage to property in the city, one of two Spanish exclaves on the North African coast and a popular route into the European Union for illegal migrants.
The migrants have demanded that they be allowed to transfer to the Spanish mainland due to the confirmed cases of the coronavirus among them. The reception facility in Melilla is overcrowded as it is meant to hold 782 residents but currently holds 1,354 due to more and more migrants breaking through the city’s fences.

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos joined Glenn Beck on this week's TV special to speak to parents who are frustrated with school districts and unions that care more about pushing progressive agendas than educating America's children.
DeVos noted that the "very troubling" kind of cultivation happening in schools today has actually been going on for years, resulting in the civil unrest we're now seeing across the country. She emphasized that "now more than ever" we must empower parents to have a say in what their kids are learning.
"Parents today, all too many of them don't have the opportunity to really control their kids' education, and therefore what they're learning and what their whole environment is. So, now more than ever, today there's a demand, an increasing demand, to give parents options and give them control of resources that are being spent on their children," DeVos said.
"This pandemic has brought about, I believe, a real turning point for K-12 education, as parents realize what their kids have or haven't learned in the past, and what they're learning today," she added. "Parents are realizing today the deficiencies of some of their kids' educational settings and are demanding more … and there's an increased receptivity, even among families who have moved to a good school district. They're finding and discovering their schools are not meeting their needs. It is a completely non-child-focused agenda that's taken root in all too many districts across the country."
DeVos encouraged parents to raise their voices with local school boards and legislators, and to demand that resources are being invested in their children.
"[Parents] are paying property taxes. Grandparents are paying property taxes. Businesses are paying property taxes. And they should be able to say, 'We want something different. We want something better for our kids.'"

Elon Musk took to the stage Friday to show the world his Neuralink brain chip progress - following a more than 30 minute delay that left some 100,000 people waiting on the edge of their seats.
Musk said last month in a tweet that on August 28, Neuralink 'will show neurons firing in real-time' – and the CEO kept his promise.
The three little pig's demo, as he called it, showed an animal named Gertrude with the brain implant. While she snuffed around in a pen, viewers saw her brain activity on a large screen.
The livestream also gave the first look of the redesigned chip, which is the size of a large coin attached to wires that replace a piece of skull when connected to the brain.
'It's like a Fitbit in your skull, Musk said during the event.
'It goes flush on your skull. I could have a Link right now and you wouldn't know. Maybe I do.'
Although the public may have hoped to see a person use the powers of the chip, the event suggests Neuralink is getting closer to Musk's vision of allowing humans to control computers and smartphones with their mind.

Submarine loaded with $18 million worth of cocaine purchased by Jalisco New Generation Cartel is intercepted by Colombian authorities
Colombian authorities intercepted a narco-submarine transporting $18 million worth of cocaine for Mexico's fastest-growing cartel.
The massive drug bust was made 52 miles off the Pacific coast city of Tumaco on Sunday and netted the arrest of three individuals who were manning the submarine.
According to the National Defense Ministry, the submarine is valued at $1.2 million and has sufficient space to transport up to three tons of cocaine.
The vessel was also equipped with a special satellite navigation system that programmed its arrival in Jalisco, Mexico, in the first week of September.

Father of Fallen SEAL Condemns President Trump in Political Ad
The father of the first service member killed in combat during President Donald Trump's administration denounced him in a political ad that aired ahead of Trump's closing address at the Republican National Convention.
William Owens, father of fallen Senior Chief Petty Officer William "Ryan" Owens, reiterated his belief that Trump is to blame for his son's death.
"Just five days into his presidency, Trump ordered Ryan Owens' SEAL team into Yemen, not in the situation room with all the intelligence assembled, but sitting across a dinner table from Steve Bannon," Owens said in the ad, which is funded by the left-leaning veterans' group VoteVets.
Washington Post was among the outlets first reporting on the ad.
The U.S. troops authorized personally by President Trump launched wide-ranging airstrikes on the Al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) terror group in Yakla, Yemen, on March 2, 2017, where the 36-year-old SEAL was killed. The raid resulted in the deaths of at least 14 civilians and at least 16 militants, but Owens was the only American fatality.
"There was no vital interest at play, just Donald Trump playing big man going to war," Owens said.
The White House and Pentagon have called the mission a success despite Owens' death. However, the operation drew scrutiny at that time, including a routine review, a "civilian casualty credibility assessment" and an investigation into the destroyed MV-22 Osprey aircraft. Officials said the U.S. didn't gather significant intelligence on AQAP's activities and planned operations from this raid.
"When you lose a 75-million-dollar airplane and more importantly American life is lost and wounded, I don't believe that you can call it 'a success'," the late Sen. John McCain said at the time, in a quote cited in the ad.
Owens also referred to Trump's 2017 Station of Union address about his son's death, where Trump honored Ryan Owens' widow, Carryn Owens.
"Donald Trump demeaned my son's sacrifice to play to the crowd," he said.

Violators Of New Zealand’s New Mask Law Face Up To $700 Fine
During the same week Germany’s Merkel announced that across all but one German states a mandatory mask law will be backed by a 50 euro fine for any violators, New Zealand has announced its own nationwide mask mandate aboard all public transit amid a feared resurgence of COVID-19 cases, with a possible penalty for refusal of up to $1000 (NZD).
The small Pacific nation was previously celebrated as the first in the world to completely eradicate the virus after previously witnessing rapid community transmission.
By the early part of August the Wellington government announced “we had beaten it” as new cases stopped being reported, and following the strict lockdown measures of months prior which had also involved shutting down the border for the island-nation.
Clusters of dozens of new cases began recently popping up again, however, after which the government ordered some 500 troops to border quarantine facilities to prevent the infected from breaching isolation order. Many blamed foreign travel.
Reuters summarizes that the “The Pacific nation of 5 million people had seemed to stop community transmission of COVID-19 due to tough lockdown measures but reintroduced restrictions in its largest city, Auckland, this month following a fresh outbreak.”
“With restrictions to scale back on Sunday, Ardern said in a Facebook post she was taking matters into her own hands before masks become compulsory on public transport across the country the following day,” the report continues.
The new mask mandate in effect this week applies to all buses, taxis, trains, fairies and planes. New Zealand media confirms that “From Monday, not wearing a mask on public transport will be punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 imposed by the courts, or a $300 infringement notice.” In New Zealand Dollars (NZD) this works out to a little under $700.

But anyone caught by police not wearing one without a reasonable excuse could be instantly fined $300 or fined up to $1000 imposed through the courts.
However, authorities say they’ll opt for “light enforcement” initially, likely to include warnings before tickets are issued.
Thus far this is the steepest fine we’ve heard of as the controversial trend of monetary penalties for not wearing a mask in certain public venues increasingly becomes a trend across parts of the globe.

Hagee once preached that Adolf Hitler was “a hunter” sent by God to chase the Jews “back” to Palestine in order to become colonial settlers and found the State of Israel.
Evangelical Christian Zionists like Hagee have a disturbingly anti-Semitic theology which prophetises that, at the end of history, the Jews will be split between those who convert to Christianity en masse, and those who are doomed to the fiery pits of hell.
And yet, Hagee is a firm friend and ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Hagee gave the valedictory prayer at the dedication of the new US embassy in Jerusalem when it was opened in 2018.
Also addressing the attendees to that ceremony was another right-wing Evangelical leader, Robert Jeffress.
Jeffress is another anti-Semite racist and Islamophobe. During one interview with a Christian TV channel, he claimed that Jews, Muslims and Mormons are all going to hell.
“Islam is wrong. It is a heresy from the pit of hell,” he declared. “Mormonism is wrong. It is a heresy from the pit of hell.” He continued: “Judaism – you can’t be saved being a Jew. You know who said that, by the way? The three greatest Jews in the New Testament: Peter, Paul and Jesus Christ.”
Israeli politicians like Netanyahu are no doubt aware of the hateful ideology of such allies. But as long as these allies are committed to political support for the State of Israel and defending its crimes, they do not care.
The Evangelical lobby, after all, still has an immense amount of power and influence in US politics. And – as Jewish support for Israel declines – it is gradually becoming a leading component of the Israeli lobby.

Pelosi Demands Nearly $1 Trillion More For Coronavirus Relief Package
President Donald Trump and Democrats in Washington D.C. are at an impasse over a second coronavirus relief bill, which might not be coming any time soon.
Trump is willing to sign a relief bill worth $1.3 trillion, a figure that Democratic House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi says isn’t nearly big enough. Pelosi is calling for a $2.2 trillion bill to assist Americans during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The Democrats are unified, but the Republicans are in disarray,” Pelosi said in a statement Friday. “Press reports are stating that Mitch McConnell has come down to $500 billion in his proposal and that Mark Meadows is saying that the White House might go to $1.3 trillion. Neither of these proposals would meet the needs of American workers and families.
“Republicans are rejecting the funding needed for testing and tracing to crush the virus and safely reopen schools and the economy.”
The new offer is a $300 billion increase from White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who said the president is ready to sign the bill “right now.”
“My impression is she wants to give no stimulus, all she wants is bailout for badly run Democrat states,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, via Reuters.
In May, the House passed a $3.4 trillion coronavirus relief bill, though it was not taken up by the Senate. The Democrats had been asking for $2.4 trillion earlier in August.

Berlin Police Arrest Over 100 People During Protest Against COVID-19 Restrictions
At least 100 people were arrested on Saturday during a rally against the coronavirus-related restrictions in Berlin, and most of them were detained during a clash between protesters and law enforcement officers near the Russian embassy, a spokeswoman for the police said.
"We do yet have an exact number of arrests made today, but I can say that a large number of people were detained in the area of the Russian embassy because of attacks on the police. This is a three-digit number," the spokeswoman said, adding that there have been no serious incidents during the protest since then.
Photos and videos from the protests have emerged online.
A spokeswoman for the police confirmed that approximately 18,000 people gathered in the Under den Linden avenue in the German capital’s central Mitte district earlier in the day, but added that the law enforcement agency could not make estimates on how many people subsequently joined the rally. The spokeswoman said that the police are not allowing the protest to start because many demonstrators are not wearing face masks.
However, some demonstrators still marched in downtown Berlin.
When the rally was passing near the Russian diplomatic mission, some protesters started throwing bottles at the police officers.
Anti-coronavirus protests on Saturdays are organised by Stuttgart's Querdenken 711 initiative group that criticizes the government’s response to the pandemic.
