Lindsey Graham admits he urged Trump to interview with Bob Woodward

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham admitted he urged President Trump to speak with journalist Bob Woodward for his new book Rage. Graham, a Republican who is up for reelection this year, explained to the Daily Beast that he encouraged Trump to talk to the Watergate sleuth because it would give him a chance to tell his side of the story, unlike with the last book Woodward wrote, 2018's Fear. "The last book Woodward wrote, Trump said he didn't know that he had wanted to be interviewed. So I said, well, the guy is a well-known presidential author. And, you know, you got a chance to tell your side of the story. The president agreed and there you go," Graham said. Recordings from Woodward's interviews which were published Wednesday have already led Trump to intense criticism over remarks he made about downplaying the coronavirus early on in the pandemic. He also wrote that former Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats believed Russian President Vladimir Putin "had something" on Trump.

Many criticized Trump and members of his inner-circle for doing 18 on-the-record interviews with Woodward, whose book is due to hit bookshelves on Tuesday. Fox News host Tucker Carlson specifically questioned why Graham encouraged Trump to do the interviews. "Lindsey Graham is supposed to be a Republican, so why would he do something like that? You would have to ask him. But keep in mind that Lindsey Graham has opposed — passionately opposed — virtually every major policy initiative that Donald Trump articulated when he first ran," Carlson said. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Wednesday that Trump chose to do the interviews with Woodward because he is the "most transparent" president in U.S. history.

Large fire breaks out at Beirut port a month after explosion

BEIRUT — A huge fire broke out Thursday at the Port of Beirut, triggering panic among residents traumatized by last month's massive explosion there that killed and injured thousands of people. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire at the facility, which was decimated by the Aug. 4 explosion when nearly 3,000 tons of ammonium nitrate detonated, triggering a shock wave explosion that blasted windows, doors, and walls miles away. A column of black smoke billowed from the port at midday Thursday, with orange flames leaping from the ground. The Lebanese army said the fire is at a warehouse where oil and tires are placed in the duty free zone at the port, adding that fighting the blaze is ongoing and that army helicopters are taking part in the operation. Panicked residents — still struggling to get over last month's catastrophic explosion — cracked open windows and called each other to warn them of the new fire. Local TV stations said the companies that have offices near the port have asked their employees to leave the area. Lebanese troops closed the major road that passes near the port, referring traffic to other areas.

The Aug. 4 explosion killed more than 190 people, injured around 6,500, and damaged thousands of buildings in the Lebanese capital. The sight of another huge fire a month later created panic among residents traumatized by last month's explosion. State-run National News Agency said the fire was at a warehouse where tires are placed. It added that firefighters are dealing with the blaze. Army helicopters were taking part in efforts to extinguish the fire. A video circulating on social media showed workers at the port running away in fear as soon as the fire broke out, a chilling reminder of last month's blast that killed dozens of port employees and 10 firefighters. Beirut Gov. Marwan Abboud and authorities called on people to stay away from roads leading to the port to allow fire engines to move quickly. Police spokesman Col. Joseph Msalam said they have no information about what is happening at the port, adding that the facility is currently under control of the army. Asked about reports that the fire was caused by burning tires and oil, he said: "I don't know. It could be containers. I really don't know what is there." It was the second fire at the port this week. On Tuesday, a small fire erupted, also creating some panic, that was quickly extinguished.

Netlfix Releases ‘Cuties’ Movie About Child Dancers And … ‘It’s Worse Than You Could Imagine’

“Cuties,” the award-winning French film featuring young teen dancers was released Wednesday on Netflix and is receiving another round of backlash from viewers for its depiction of children in sexual situations. The film, which is directed by French movie maker Maïmouna Doucouré, centers around Amy, 11, joining young underage female dancers in a group “named ‘the cuties’ at school, and rapidly grows aware of her burgeoning femininity – upsetting her mother and her values in the process,” according to the films description. Footage of the movie began to go viral Wednesday night with many viewers accusing Netflix of promoting pedophilia and sexualizing children for allowing “Cuties” on their streaming platform. “Netflix released that ‘Cuties’ movie about twerking 11 year olds,” the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh wrote on Twitter. “Fuller clips of the film are now circulating. It’s way worse than I thought, and I thought it would be extremely bad. VERY explicit sexual dancing, girls grabbing themselves, crotch shots, etc. These are children.”

The director, has previously complained that she has received death threats after the American poster for the film was released that depicted the underage cast on a stage in a variety of poses. Doucouré claimed that she was surprised by the American artwork, and that she had several subsequent conversations with Netflix. Netflix apologized for the artwork used to promote the film, assuring critics that it was not representative of the movie itself. “We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties,” a Netflix spokeswoman told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which premiered at Sundance.” The film was produced by Zangro, a French producer who previously had a hand in a short film titled “Mamans,” also directed by Doucouré, with his company, Bien ou Bien Productions. The short film centers around a child raised in a polygamist household. In an interview with Variety, Zangro applauded Doucouré’s work with the young teenage cast, saying, “It’s amazing to watch. She works at the same level as the kids. She has a deep and intimate relationship with them. She acts with them. She cries, and they cry. There’s a magical link and a deep sense of trust.”

Carter Page’s Book Shows How The Left Will Ruin Patriots To Get Power

It isn’t Carter Page who should be apologizing to his family for what they’ve gone through. It’s the Crossfire Hurricane team, the members of the special counsel team, and the press.

The media contacts began in July 2016. First, it was the Wall Street Journal. The Washington Post, New York Times, Politico, and CNN soon followed. The questions posed — all similar — perplexed Carter Page. No, he hadn’t met with Igor Sechin or Igor Divyekin while in Russia. No, Page hadn’t suggested the new administration would lift sanctions if then-candidate Donald Trump won the presidency. It was not until years later that Page, who had served as a volunteer advisor on the Trump campaign, began to unravel the truth about these calls. In his recently released book, “Abuse and Power: How an Innocent American was Framed in an Attempted Coup Against the President,” Page shares his saga with readers. In an interview last week with the author, Page punctuated the finer points of the plot against Trump that ensnared him. While those early questions unsettled Page, his denials gave the press pause—until September 23, 2016, when Michael Isikoff’s Yahoo News article hit, with highlights from Christopher Steele’s now-bunked dossier. “I went from being a private person to suddenly having my name ‘trending’ on Twitter,” Page wrote. A good friend with whom Page stayed while in London told him he was no longer welcome there. Page also soon found himself cut off from the best people in the field — academics and think-tank types with whom he had enjoyed intellectual exchanges over the years. “The one guy who would still talk to me,” Page told me, was Stefan Halper. “I had visited Halper at his Virginia farm in August, and he repeatedly invited me to meet again over the months that followed,” Page explained. At the time, Page welcomed Halper’s friendship. Even though Page had been warned “by a man from a research firm with deep ties to the intelligence agencies” that he was “being set up” by “the Clinton campaign . . . [and] London-based investigators,” Page did not begin to suspect Halper until mid-December 2017.

“Kash Patel called me and asked where I had been on August 20, 2016,” Page said in our interview. The question by Patel, who reportedly helped author Rep. Devin Nunes’s prophetic memorandum on FISA abuse, made Page wonder about the older gentleman he had first met at a conference in London in June 2016. But it wasn’t until May 2018 that Page knew for certain that Halper had been spying on him — and in turn the Trump campaign. While leftist media continues to pretend no spying on the Trump campaign took place, “Abuse and Power” provides a first-hand account of the depth of the spying. “It wasn’t just the emails they accessed,” Page stressed. The conversations Halper taped and the materials Page provided on USB drives, or that the FBI accessed during Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act-“approved” searches, were substantial, according to Page. During Page’s August 2016 visit with Halper, “Halper expressed interest in the inner workings of the campaign and ideas for what a Trump foreign policy might eventually look like.” “He asked specifics,” Page confirmed in last week’s interview.
