The U.S. Marshals have joined two Oklahoma police departments in the search for a man accused of "despicable" and lewd acts with a 6-month-old baby, authorities said.

Brice Gage Watkins allegedly sexually assaulted the infant and later posted a recording of the act on social media, the Oklahoma City and Enid police departments said on Twitter.

I personally don't know for a fact because I never got "into" the social media drama-fuck-fest, but realizing social media is part of the plan, I created a twat account to "spread the message". I hadn't followed her, but I do follow others in that circle.

Former Theranos Inc. Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Holmes is exploring a “mental disease" defense for her criminal fraud trial, in one of Silicon Valley’s most closely watched cases.That possibility was revealed Wednesday when the judge overseeing the case ruled that government prosecutors can examine Holmes. The ruling was in response to the failed blood-testing startup founder’s plan to introduce evidence of “mental disease or defect" or other mental condition “bearing on the issue of guilt," according to the filing.

Holmes may be seeking to introduce the evidence to challenge the requirement that prosecutors prove her intent to do something wrong or illegal.

Holmes intends to use testimony from Mindy Mechanic, a clinical psychologist at California State University at Fullerton, according to the filing. Mechanic is an expert on the psychosocial consequences of trauma, with a focus on violence against women, and often provides expert testimony in cases involving “interpersonal violence," according to her faculty profile on the school’s website.

Barbara McQuade, a former federal prosecutor who now teaches at the University of Michigan law school, said mounting a so-called insanity defense won’t be easy, as the defendant must meet a high standard of proof.

“Contrary to what you may see in the movies, an insanity defense in federal cases is rare and hard to fake," McQuade said in an email. Holmes must show that, at the time she committed the alleged offenses, a severe mental defect made her “unable to appreciate the nature and quality or the wrongfulness of (her) acts."

In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Edward J. Davila rejected Holmes’s argument that she shouldn’t have to submit to a psychological examination by government experts. The judge ruled that such an examination is fair given Holmes’s intent to use testimony from Mechanic.

“The court agrees with the government that its experts must be permitted to conduct their own examination of defendant Holmes in order to mount an effective rebuttal," Davila wrote.

Davila also ruled, over Holmes’s objections, that the examination of the former CEO will be videotaped. Holmes’s lawyers argued the recording would “negatively affect the tenor or the interview," according to the ruling.

The arguments over Holmes’s mental state have been argued earlier but behind closed doors and in sealed documents. Davila heard arguments at a closed-door July 8 hearing, disclosed publicly for the first time in Wednesday’s filing.

Holmes and her former boyfriend, ex-Theranos president Ramesh “Sunny" Balwani, are accused of falsely claiming that the company’s devices could perform myriad tests with a single drop of blood and of duping investors and defrauding doctors and patients who trusted the results. Theranos, which attracted the backing of high-profile investors and leading venture capital firms, was valued at $9 billion before unraveling over the alleged fraud.

Davila decided in March that Holmes and Balwani, who were charged together, should face separate trials.

Holmes’s trial was postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic and is now scheduled to start in March in San Jose, California. Balwani’s trial will follow.

Kevin Downey and Lance Wade, lawyers representing Holmes, didn’t immediately respond to emails and phone calls seeking comment. Mechanic didn’t immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment.

The halting of AstraZeneca's coronavirus vaccine trial is "not uncommon," Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, said Wednesday. Being alert for potential adverse reactions is part of the process, he explained.

"It's really one of the safety valves that you have on clinical trials such as this," he said on "CBS This Morning." "So it's unfortunate that it happened. Hopefully they'll work it out and be able to proceed along with the remainder of the trial."

AstraZeneca paused its Phase 3 trial on Tuesday after one participant became ill. It was not clear what symptoms the participant had. AstraZeneca is one of three companies currently in the final phase of vaccine trials.

"This is a routine action which has to happen whenever there is a potentially unexplained illness in one of the trials, while it is investigated, ensuring we maintain the integrity of the trials," AstraZeneca said in a statement.

Fauci said "generally," the adverse event is related to something else, not the vaccine, but those running the trial can't presume that.

"Likely November, December. Is it possible? Is it conceivable that we could find out earlier, let's say October? Certainly that's possible. I think it's unlikely, but you can't rule it out," he said. "I think the more likely scenario is that we will know by the end of this calendar year and hopefully we'll be able to start vaccinations in earnest as we begin 2021."

President Donald Trump has expressed optimism that a vaccine would be ready ahead of the 2020 presidential election on November 3, despite health experts saying that is unlikely.

Asked about the politicization of the race for a vaccine, Fauci said he hopes and believes the authorization will not be politicized.

"When the decision is made whether or not you're going to give an EUA, which is an emergency use authorization, or even approve the vaccine, there are also advisory boards that you run this by," he said. MILWAUKEE — Animals become a part of our families. During the pandemic, there's a high demand for pets. But the I-Team learned not everyone is going about the right way to get one.

Kristin Wilson is the Executive Director of Billy's Posse, a group that helps owners find their lost dogs.

"Dogs have become a commodity," Wilson said. "A lot of times it is just trying to make a quick buck."

More Than 60 Dogs Missing, Reported Stolen In Wisconsin [PHOTOS]

Staff with the nonprofit are currently looking for more than 60 dogs that vanished without a trace. The group suspects many of them were taken. In some cases, criminals go after a certain breed and resell them on the internet.

"It's nothing new, there are certain dogs that do seem to be targeted," she said.

Wilson says breeds like French Bulldogs and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are popular targets.

Jackie Bourque's two-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Riley, has been missing since early summer. She suspects Riley was stolen.

"It's been heartbreaking every single day and just knowing that she's out there," Bourque said.

Bourque said Riley slipped through a gate and got out of a friend's backyard. She hasn't seen her since.

"I've also talked to the police, and all I kept hearing was that someone has your dog or she's been sold, and this was kind of a shock to me," Bourque said.

Bourque posted on social media about Riley, hoping someone will come forward. One fellow user said they spotted Riley posted for sale on a Facebook page.

"She said she remembers it vividly because a lot of people were asking what the breed was and how much they could get for her," Bourque said.

So far, that lead and others haven't turned anything up.

Kathy Shillinglaw is the outreach coordinator at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission.

"Jackie lost her dog in June. What are her chances of being reunited with Riley?" The I-Team's Kristin Byrne asked Shillinglaw.

"The longer it gets, the [fewer] opportunities that people get their animals back but I would want to encourage people to keep hope. We've seen animals returned to owners after years," Shillinglaw said.

Biden Campaign Firm Hit by Suspected Kremlin Hacking Attack

Intelligence officials have long been warning that Russian agents will inevitably try to interfere in the 2020 campaign—now some appear to have been caught targeting a key Biden campaign firm.

Reuters reported Thursday morning that suspected Russian state-backed hackers have attempted to breach the systems at Washington-based SKDKnickerbocker, a strategy and communications firm working hand-in-glove with Joe Biden’s campaign. The attacks, which took place over the past two months, were unsuccessful.

The failed hacking attempt was brought to SKDK’s attention by Microsoft, which reportedly gathered information identifying hackers linked to the Kremlin as the most likely suspects. The attacks are said to have mainly focussed on phishing—a common hacking method which lures users into disclosing sensitive passwords.

That was the method used by Russian hackers to access DNC emails, which were subsequently leaked online, ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

A person familiar with SKDK’s repelling to the hacking attempts said the agents didn’t get very far, telling Reuters: “They are well-defended, so there has been no breach.” Another source said it was impossible to confirm if Biden’s campaign was the target, or whether the Russians were trying to gather intel on the long list of other SKDK clients.

SKDK has an extremely close relationship with the Democratic Party—the firm’s managing director Anita Dunn served as a White House communications director during the Barack Obama presidency and now works for the Biden campaign as a top advisor.

Officially, neither SKDK, Microsoft, or the Biden campaign have commented on the Reuters report.

It’s not the first time Microsoft has managed to thwart suspected Russian government hackers—in 2017, the software maker identified over 120 new targets of the Kremlin’s cyber spying by suing the notorious hacker group known as Fancy Bear. Microsoft’s legal action led to the seizure of 70 command-and-control servers the hackers used to covertly direct malware on victim computers.

Microsoft also helped to foil the Russian intelligence agents who targeted Sen. Claire McCaskill with a phishing campaign as she began her 2018 re-election campaign.

Unsurprisingly, the Kremlin was quick to deny any connection to the latest attempted phishing attempts. In comments reported by the Russian government-owned TASS news agency, President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said he had no idea what SKDK is and added: ”It looks like just another nonsense that is published, unfortunately, by a sometimes respected agency.”

U.S. intelligence officials briefed House lawmakers as early as last February that Russian actors were already interfering in the 2020 elections, once more to the benefit of Trump. The briefing was conducted for the House Intelligence Committee by an aide to then acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, who was later forced out of his position by Trump.

Earlier this month, intelligence officials publicly confirmed their belief that Russia is using a range of techniques to damage Biden and, last week, the FBI stepped in to warn Facebook that Russia’s troll farm was parading as a nonprofit news organization in an attempt to promote criticism of Biden from the left.

The Department of Homeland Security has also discovered a Russian plot spreading disinformation about Biden’s mental health—a reoccurring theme of Trump’s attacks on his rival.

Biden said last Friday that the Trump administration is wrong about China being the biggest threat to U.S. elections, saying: “There are a lot of countries around the world I think would be happy to see our elections destabilized. But the one who’s working the hardest most consistently and never has let up is Russia.”

Acting Brotherhood General Guide's Arrest a Major Blow to the Group

Egypt's arrest of a long-sought Muslim Brotherhood leader Aug. 28 is sure to create new challenges for the Islamist group. Acting General Guide Mahmoud Ezzat, 76, was arrested Aug. 28 after years in hiding.

Egyptian police found him in his hideout apartment in a posh district in New Cairo. Police confiscated a number of computer devices, cellular phones with encrypted programs, and documents which include plans for terrorist attacks, Egypt's Ministry of Interior said in a press statement. The statement described Ezzat as "responsible for handling the organization's (MB) funds and providing it with financial support as well as financing all its activities."

The charges claim he masterminded terrorist attacks after the June 2013 revolution forced the Muslim Brotherhood-led government from power.

Ezzat became the Brotherhood's acting leader after General Guide Mohamed Badie was arrested and indicted in several terrorism cases. Badie is serving a life sentence.

For Egyptian security, Ezzat's fall generates a wealth of information on the whereabouts of the Brotherhood's splinter cells, such as Hasm and Liwa Al Thawra, both of which the United States designated as terrorist organizations. Hasm has carried out 14 terrorist attacks in Egypt and more than 304 suspected members have been arrested and sent to military courts. Liwa Al Thawra was involved in several assassinations of police and army officers.

Ezzat is no stranger to prison, having first been tried in 1965 as part of a group following Muslim Brotherhood ideologue Sayyid Qutb. Qutb was executed in 1966 while Ezzat received a 10-year prison sentence for joining a group that aimed to topple the government through violence. He was served five years in prison in 1995 for his role in the Brotherhood's guidance bureau.

Before his latest arrest, Ezzat already faced a death sentence after being convicted in absentia for plotting the 2015 assassination of Egypt's General Prosecutor Hisham Barakat. He is also accused of plotting the bombing of a Cairo cancer medical center last year killing 20 people and injuring 50 more.

The government's evidence linking Ezzat to the attacks is not likely to be seen before his trial.

Additionally, he is charged with leading the online Brotherhood brigades accused of spreading rumors and Muslim Brotherhood propaganda in the country. He is set for retrial for all convictions now, according to Egyptian law, since the convictions were obtained in a trial held in absentia.

General Farouk Al Maqrahi, a former top official in Egypt's Interior Ministry, described Ezzat as "the most dangerous of the Brotherhood militant apparatus." "Mahmoud Ezzat controlled the group (MB) and his capture breaks its power."
