just tried it using the mickey mouse echo clock from Q's post.
Did 4 different versions using the camo noise. All got identified as the mickey clock on tineye, even the hard mix version.

yup, i think the only way is to either severely overlay (with full block-out layers like your example or multiple semi-opaque overlays that make the underlying image very difficult to distinguish (and not that enjoyable for humans to "read")
Other versions would be to incorporate an image into a larger image to produce a completely unique image.
Using well known images could also act as a camouflage, kind of like hiding a leaf amongst other leaves. Would be hard to remove one leaf (meme) without removing all regular leaves (base image). If my analogy makes sense…
