Paedophile cheerleading coach Nikola Marinovich jailed for child exploitation files

A convicted paedophile and former cheerleading coach who worked on children's TV show What Now has today been jailed for possessing, making and distributing graphic child abuse material.

Auckland man Nikola Michael Marinovich appeared for sentencing in Auckland District Court after earlier pleading guilty to a raft of representative charges brought by Customs relating to serious child sexual exploitation material.

He was jailed for three and half years.

Judge Eddie Paul said he had viewed a small sample of the thousands of objectionable publications found stored on five electronic devices belonging to Marinovich in order to inform the sentencing.

Eight of the files involved Marinovich recording videos of child abuse he had been watching on a screen.

The court heard 4658 objectionable images or video files were found on his devices. He had downloaded the material in his bedroom, often while high on controlled drugs, including methamphetamine.

This is what we commonly call “conscience”, and a greater number of people have it. Without it, our species would have self-destructed and gone extinct thousands of years ago.

With psychopaths, however, it's not only about a complete lack of empathy and conscience; they also often take JOY in the destruction, debasement and exploitation of others. Standard sociopaths harm people in the process of getting what they want because they do not have the capacity to care. Psychopaths harm people because THAT IS THEIR GOAL. Think of it as a kind of kink; they lust after control over others, they get high from it. And, their most sought after drug of choice is the violation of innocence.

In my lifetime I have met epic liars, con-men, rapists, murderers and even pedophiles, and their habits and mannerisms all tend to be the same. ‘Cheer’ star Jerry Harris arrested on child porn charges

CHICAGO (AP) — Jerry Harris, the star of the Netflix documentary series “Cheer,” was arrested Thursday on felony charges of production of child pornography, three days after twin boys filed a lawsuit alleging he sent them sexually explicit photos of himself and cornered one of them in a bathroom and begged for oral sex.

According to the complaint, Harris admitted during an interview after FBI agents raided his home Monday that he had asking one of the teens to send him photographs and videos of his penis and buttocks on Snapchat. He also admitted that he repeatedly asked the teen, identified only as Minor 1, between December 2018 and March of this year for such photographs and videos.

Further, according to the complaint, Harris admitted to requesting and receiving on Snapchat child pornography from “at least between 10 to 15 other individuals he knew were minors.”

FBI agents were photographed Monday coming out a home in the Chicago suburb of Naperville that USA Today, which first reported the suit, reported was Harris’ home.

The boy’s mother told the newspaper that both of her sons had spoken to the FBI, and the lawsuit alleges that she also reported the allegations to Fort Worth police, the FBI and others. The complaint contends that the mother contacted authorities after she saw messages from Harris on one of her son’s cellphones.

Harris, 21, was the breakout star of the show that followed the cheerleading team from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, as it sought a national title.

Harris did not respond for comment from USA Today, and attempts by The Associated Press to find a phone number for Harris have not been successful.

In interviews with USA Today at their Texas home, the boys — who are now 14 years old — described a pattern of harassment both online and at cheer competitions, which began when they were 13 and Harris was 19. They said it continued for over a year.

Besides accusing Harris of sexual misconduct, the lawsuit alleges that cheer organizations failed to protect the boys. The organizations named in the lawsuit are U.S. All Star Federation, which governs competitive cheerleading; Varsity Spirit, which puts on competitions; and the Cheer Athletics, a chain of gyms.

A Varsity official in Aug. 1 letters to police in Florida and Texas said the organization had learned of “inappropriate sexual conduct” allegations against Harris, USA TODAY reported.

Cheer Athletics owner Angela Rogers told the newspaper that Harris hasn’t been affiliated with the gym since March 1. Rogers told the newspaper that she learned of the allegations against him in mid-May and reported them to police.

“Cheer” was an instant success when it was released in January, and Harris drew fans for his upbeat attitude and his encouraging “mat talk.” Earlier this year, he interviewed celebrities on the red carpet at the Academy Awards for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

A 911 call made by Jerry Falwell Jr.'s wife just days after his resignation from Liberty University revealed that he was losing 'a lot of blood' after allegedly injuring himself on a trash can in a fall while drunk. In the call record of the incident, Becki Falwell refused to cooperate with officers after she called to report that her husband was bleeding heavily and would not go with her to the hospital, the Huffington Post states. Dispatchers arrived to find Falwell with lacerations under his left eye, across the bridge of his nose, and above both his right and left eyes, as he slurred his speech with empty alcohol containers nearby. The call, acquired by the Huffington Post through a Freedom of Information request, took place on August 31, a week after Falwell was forced to move aside as president of the evangelical university founded by his father Jerry Falwell Sr. He was plagued by a string of controversies culminating in a claim from a former poolboy that he had an affair with Becki Falwell for years with the consent of her husband. One week after the allegations of Giancarlo Granda, now 29, were published by Reuters, first responders were called to the Falwell couple's home in Bedford County, Virginia, at 2.30am.

Audio from the 911 call involves Becki Falwell telling the dispatcher that she had been at church at 11pm that night when she received a call from her husband to say he was injured. She says that she was forced to break a door in with a chair after finding their home locked and discovered her husband surrounded by 'a lot of blood right now' after a fall down the stairs. Becki confirmed to the dispatcher that her husband had been drinking but when asked if he was drinking heavily, she refused to cooperate stating: 'I'm not going to answer that question.' She was told that the information was important to understand how severe his injuries were as alcohol thins the blood to which she responded: 'The more I tell you the name, the more you're going to understand why we're not talking to you right now'. Liberty University imposes a strict code of conduct for its students which bans them from drinking alcohol. 'He won't let her take him to the hospital as he is stubborn. Caller was not forthcoming,' the dispatcher log noted.

When first responders arrived to the scene, they found Jerry which head injuries from hitting his head on a trash can. They noted that there was 'blood in the area he indicated' and 'empty alcohol containers.' Jerry had slurred and slowed speach (sic) and would repeat things already asked.' It is not known if he was transferred to hospital for medical treatment or was treated on the scene. The next morning, Liberty University revealed that they had launched a comprehensive investigation by an outside firm into Falwell's tenure. Falwell, one of the most influential right-wing Christian leaders in the United States, resigned from the university on August 25 following the pool boy controversy, as well a list of other recent scandals, many of which also appeared to involve alcohol. According to The Wall Street Journal, administrators say Falwell showed up to campus drunk. He also accidentally once sent a racy photograph of his wife to administrators at a football game, and to his son, they claimed. He denied the claims in the Journal.

In August, the leading evangelical Trump supporter was blasted as a hypocrite for posting a picture with his pants unzipped and midriff exposed, while appearing to hold a glass of alcohol. The picture, posted and deleted from Instagram, sparked controversy because of the strict code of conduct for Liberty University students which requires them to dress with 'appropriateness' and 'modesty'. Falwell tried to explain the post in an unusual interview with Morninline on WLNI 1059, in Lynchburg, Virginia, claiming the woman was his wife's assistant and that he's 'gonna try to be a good boy from here on out'. Granda has also claimed to Fox News that despite the strict rules for Liberty University students, the Falwells did not adhere to the same moral code.

NYU, which rakes in about $16.5 billion in revenue each year, is ranked the 11th best school in the US and sits just outside the prestigious Ivy League.

It is unclear how much money NYU received, but the ABC has confirmed it did receive payments to distribute to staff.

In May, private universities such as Notre Dame University, Bond University, Torrens University and the University of Divinity were granted an exemption to the existing JobKeeper eligibility criteria placed on all other universities.

Overall, Australia's 39 public universities receive $18 billion in Federal Government funding for domestic students, but none have received JobKeeper.

Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi said although she did not want to deny Sydney-based NYU staff "relief", there was a double standard.

"The Government should have exactly the same rules for universities and not try to exclude public universities," Senator Faruqi said.

NYU's Sydney campus did not respond to a request for comment and Education Minister Dan Tehan directed questions to Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, who administers JobKeeper.
