Speaking as a Brit, in awe of your Constitution, it's so much more than that.

 

It's what the Constitution acknowledges in terms of inalienable rights granted by a Creator - that's what makes the difference.

 

Anything granted by one group of people to another group can just as easily be withdrawn by a different group of people with a diufferent ideology.

 

Human Rights legislation, for instance, as granted by, say, the EU, can be withdrawn or modified as it was a charter drawn up by men and imposed on other men.

 

An acknowledgment of CREATOR granted rights is above the remit of any human to give or take. They are INALIENABLE rights, not subject to the whims or fashions of governments and mere men.

 

THAT'S the real beauty of the US Constitution from where I stand.
