IF, the so called Patriots have it all, like they say, they can use as leverage to control the future presidents. So doesn't' matter who wins, they have to do their bidding. Blackmail works both ways.
All politicians have skeletons on their closets, even the "good" ones.
This system may end, but humans will not stop being humans. And that's the real problem.

Everyone do some dumb stuff int their lives. Even Trump.
It's inevitable. It's our nature to be corrupted by desire and power. Long after all this stuff is gone, a new generation will rise up and start this thing all over again. Every single revolution in the history of humanity ended up in the exact same way. Eventually bad people rise back to power and the "Cabal" comes back. It's a cycle. Only God can solves this once and for all. Humans can't help themselves.
