Spouseanon was a passenger in a car and hit by a drunk driver. Broke her spine. While she was recovering, she was hit by another drunk driver, 10 months after the first accident, and broke her spine again.

That was 13 years ago. We finally have a telephone hearing scheduled for December to check on the status. She's won 5 Federal appeals, but every time they come back to the local Administrative Law "Judge" she gets denied. The last judge denied her because she was white, young, good looking, and well spoken and didn't look disabled. She has 50 pounds of medical records, but he didn't care to look at them. He was sure if she would just stop taking pain medication she'd be able to get a good job and work 40 hrs/wk.

THEY HATE DISABLED AMERICANS

Hey MorningShift. Any FinanceFags on?

Mortgage company called offering to refinance anon to 2.375% (26yr fixed rate mortgage) but they want a $2,400 closing fee. I negotiated them to $1,800 on the closing fee, but think the rates might fall a bit more in the next couple of months? I just refi'd to 3.375% back in Feb, but paid $2K for that.

I'm not sure resetting the loan this frequently is sound, considering the refi cost, because of how the amortization table structures the interest into the early payments?

Any advice? Or, is GEOTUS gonna JUBILEE and mortgage rates won't matter soon?

Absolutely anon. TY for the support. Unfortunately her Atty and the Judge had personal beef too. Very political. Praying for an actual neutral arbiter to review the record and make the right decision, once and for all. 13 years, unable to work, and treated like a leper or a pauper, because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It's okay though. We're grateful to God for the many blessings we've been given in lieu of children and an affirmative disability decision for her from the SSA.

It's a 30 year, but I specified the term at 26. Just bought the house 3 years ago for $240K. I'm trying to pay this thing off. The tax writeoff doesn't benefit me in my situation.

Payment is slighty less that the cost of a refi, so I value that input very much. I do get to skip a payment, so it's just costing me time. Thank you.

So, stick with the 30 year term and continue paying on the principal as well, to get it paid off faster?

Thanks so much, anon. This makes it clear for anon.. I'm sure there's lots of confusion amongst anons, even autistic ones. It's like looking through a prism into a hall of mirrors trying to figure out finance. God bless you.

Thanks again anon. After paying off all of ex-spouses debt though a lovely Chapter 13 repayment, and losing a home in the market crash, anon is learning more about finance each day. No CC debt here. Just a car payment and basic bills. Growing food in the garden. Getting pigs this month to eat the brush and grass and for us to eat next year. Trying to beat the buzzer, so my family won't have to worry about money when I'm gone.
