Conspiracy to do something that is not a crime, is not a crime. Conspiracy to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is not a crime. Conspiracy to overthrow a government by lying to the public is not a crime. Conspiracy to make misleading campaign promises is not a crime.

Conspiracy to deprive a person of civil rights under color of law (18 USC 242) is a crime.

Conspiracy is not per se a crime. You must identify an underlying criminal act. Expectations for Barr and Durham are unreasonable because the public is ignorant of the law. There is going to be some huge disappointment.

No doubt. My short post was not meant to list all the laws on the books. My point was just that "conspiracy" needs to be followed with "to do [name crime, cite statute]." Otherwise the claim is a hollow whinge.

I read it years ago. It says what I said. 18 USC 2385 (a) requires, "by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer." The "by force or violence" part appears a few times.

What I said was that overthrow by LYING to the public is not a crime.
