Anti-lockdown and pro-choice protesters descend on Warsaw, traffic blockade & women’s strike planned next

Opponents of tough Covid-19 restrictions and a near-total ban on abortion have rallied simultaneously in the Polish capital. Pro-choice activists promised a nationwide women’s strike next week.

Protesters in Warsaw demanded a “wise and responsible” approach to fighting the coronavirus, which would include the easing of quarantine restrictions and the voluntary self-isolation of vulnerable groups. They also asked the government to compensate businesses reeling from the outbreak. Officials introduced tougher measures against Covid-19 earlier this month, following a spike in cases.

In the town of Bialystok, people lit candles outside the offices of the ruling conservative Law and Justice party (PiS), while in Wroclaw, activists left coat hangers – the symbol of a life-threatening method of self-induced abortion – on the gate of the archbishop’s residence.

While most of the rallies were peaceful, minor incidents were reported. In the port city of Gdynia, football fans who had joined the protests broke into the office of a local PiS lawmaker, and police used tear gas to drive them out. Protesters also blocked traffic on the roads, and some of the drivers expressed solidarity with their cause.

In Katowice, an opposition MP, Maciej Kopiec, was briefly handcuffed following an altercation with the police. Officers claimed he was detained after kicking a riot shield and refusing to identify himself.

Abortion is a highly contentious issue in Poland – a predominately Catholic state. The country already had one of the most restrictive laws on ending pregnancy in Europe when, on Thursday, a court ruling banned abortions carried out when a fetus is deformed. Now, women can undergo abortions only in the case of rape, incest, or where the mother’s health is at risk.

Pope Francis includes first black American, a noted Trump critic, among 13 new cardinals

Pope Francis has announced 13 new cardinals, the most notable of which is Washington DC Archbishop Wilton Gregory, the first black American prelate to earn the honor.

They will be honored in a ceremony on November 28.

Gregory was appointed Archbishop of DC in 2019, having served in cities that included Chicago and Atlanta. The churchman made a name for himself this year when he publicly criticized President Donald Trump over his visit to Washington’s Saint John Paul II Shrine.

Black Lives Matter protesters had gathered in downtown DC to protest police brutality and had to be dispersed by law enforcement officers, reportedly with tear gas, in order for Trump and the First Lady to safely visit the church. The president was accused by critics of encouraging violent clashes between police and citizens simply to secure a photo opportunity.

Gregory said he found it “baffling and reprehensible” that “any Catholic facility” would allow itself to be “so egregiously misused and manipulated.” Pope John Paul II – who was posthumously canonized – had been an “ardent defender of the rights and dignity of human beings,” he added.

“He certainly would not [have] condone[d] the use of tear gas and other deterrents to silence, scatter, or intimidate them for a photo opportunity in front of a place of worship and peace,” Gregory continued.

In other public comments, Gregory has praised those who “take to the streets to protest injustice,” though he has claimed he is not partisan.

Sen. Ron Johnson: ‘The Vice President Has Been Caught in Repeated Lies over Biden Inc. About His Family’s Businesses’

During this week’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, batted down criticisms of his committee’s investigation of alleged wrongdoings of family and associates of former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee.

Johnson accused Biden of lying in his public denials.

“The vice president is lying again,” he said. “Check out page 78 of our report, where we show a company, a Chinese company, CEFC, transferred about $5 million to businesses controlled by Hunter Biden, $5 million. So, no, he’s lying. He’s lying about the fact that he said he never spoke to his son Hunter about his overseas business connections, flew over to China, had a handshake with Jonathan Li, who ended up being a business partner in Bohai Harvest RST, which was that investment firm.”

“We documented Amos Hochstein talked to the vice president about the glaring conflict of interest in Ukraine. The vice president then talked to Hunter to arrange a meeting with Amos Hochstein. So, the vice president has been caught in repeated lies over Biden Inc. about his family’s businesses.”

Johnson also slammed his colleague Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) for claiming he and his committee “spent millions” on their investigation.

“Chris Coons lied about me when he said we have spent millions,” Johnson added. “I haven’t spent a dime, other than my staff salary. This is what we do. We investigate things. It’s just normal Senate salary. We haven’t spent a dime more than just my basic committee budget.”

Washington Post: Treat Hunter Biden Emails as Foreign Intel — ‘Even if They Probably Aren’t’

The Washington Post published an op-ed Saturday advising readers: “We must treat the Hunter Biden leaks as if they were a foreign intelligence operation — even if they probably aren’t.”

The rationale for this argument, by Johns Hopkins Professor Thomas Rid, was that Russian interference in 2016 — through the hacking of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) email server, blamed by intelligence agencies on Russia — provided damaging information about the inner workings of the party (specifically, how it prevented socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont from winning the nomination.)

Therefore any unexpected information — even if true — that could affect voters’ choice in 2020 must be treated with suspicion.

Rid may have revealed more than he intended about how the hivemind of the Beltway sprang into action to suppress the story:

[O]n Oct. 14, files purportedly from the mysterious laptop spilled into public view in the New York Post. My Signal messaging app immediately lit up with keen observers suspecting that this was finally it: the long-expected Russian hack-and-leak operation, a rerun of 2016, surfaced via a computer repair shop and the Post, in lieu of Guccifer 2.0 and WikiLeaks.

“Signal” is an app that allows users to send encrypted messages, and it is known to be used by government employees to share and leak information. Rid’s account of observers “suspecting” that they were seeing something “long-awaited” suggests confirmation bias — defined as “[t]he tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one’s existing beliefs or theories.”

At one point, Rid actually claimed that “the Trump campaign had long signaled that it was receptive to receiving hacked materials, whatever the sourcing.” He linked to an article in the Daily Beast — an anti-Trump publication — about Trump’s joke at a July 2016 press conference about Russia finding Hillary Clinton’s missing emails.

Rid allowed that there is no evidence of Russian involvement — and argued that if Russia had been involved, it would have produced information that “would have actual political impact, instead of the unremarkable material revealed in the Post so far.”

In other words, Rid invoked the media’s deliberate suppression of the story, partly a result of unfounded suspicions about “Russia,” to suggest that perhaps Russia was not to blame after all.

Rid closed by warning against assuming Russia was involved, adding that “there are good reasons to be skeptical of the theory that the laptop is a foreign plot.”

At no point in the article did Rid discuss the substance of the emails revealed by the New York Post, other than to say that they accused Joe Biden of “corruption in Ukraine.”

He did not mention other emails on the laptop connecting the Bidens to a business proposal with a private Chinese company — one corroborated by would-be partner Tony Bobulinksi last week.

Germany's top Covid-19 research body firebombed overnight in possible politically motivated arson attack – police

Unidentified perpetrators have thrown bottles and "incendiary devices" at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin. The incident was relatively minor, but the target is a top institution leading the national effort to combat Covid-19.

The attack happened at around 2:40am on Sunday morning, the German police said. The projectiles were thrown at the facade of the building, breaking a window pane and producing some flames. A security guard put out the fire, which caused no injuries.

Whoever was behind the attack escaped the scene. The police said they are treating the investigation very seriously because it may have been a "politically motivated attempted arson."

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI)is the German federal government agency responsible for dealing with infectious diseases and formulating preventative healthcare policies. It has been at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19, providing guidelines, collecting and reporting national statistics, and otherwise responding to the pandemic.

Rockefellers Combating ‘The Human Cancer’

Years before Henry Kissinger and Brent Scowcroft made population reduction the official foreign policy of the United States Government, the Rockefeller brothers, most especially John D Rockefeller III, or JDR III as he was affectionately known, were busy experimenting on human guinea pigs.

In the 1950’s, brother Nelson Rockefeller was occupied with exploiting the cheap, non-union labor of Puerto Ricans in the New York garment center sweatshops, flying them into New York at cheap rates on the family’s Eastern Airlines shuttle. He was also engaged in setting up cheap labor manufacturing directly on the island, far away from prying US health and industrial safety regulators, under a government program named Operation Bootstrap.

At the time, Nelson was Under Secretary of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and a shadowy and highly influential figure in the Eisenhower Administration.

In Nelson’s version of Operation Bootstrap, the boots were owned by the Rockefeller family and their business friends. The only straps were those used by sweatshop owners on the island to force a higher level of productivity.

While Nelson was thus busy encouraging the spirit of free enterprise among Puerto Ricans, brother John D. III, was running human experiments in mass sterilization on the poorer citizens of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico was an unfortunate island whose sovereignty got lost somewhere in the shuffle of American diplomacy. It was a de facto US colony, with ultimate legal control decided far away in Washington, making it an ideal experiment station. Through his newly founded Population Council, JDR III first ran some of the experiments in population reduction which would later become global State Department policy under Henry Kissinger’s NSSM 200.

JDR III made Puerto Rico into a huge laboratory to test his ideas on mass population control beginning in the 1950’s. By 1965, an estimated 35% of Puerto Rico’s women of childbearing age had been permanently sterilized, according to a study made that year by the island’s Public Health Department. The Rockefeller Population Council, and the US Government Department of Health Education and Welfare—where brother Nelson was Under-Secretary—packaged the sterilization campaign. They used the spurious argument that it would protect women’s health and stabilize incomes if there were fewer mouths to feed.

Poor Puerto Rican peasant women were encouraged to give birth in sanitary new US-built hospitals where doctors were under orders to sterilize mothers after two children by tying their tubes, usually without the mother’s being aware of what was being done. By 1965, Puerto Rico was a world leader in at least one category. It had the highest percentage of sterilized women in the world. India lagged badly in comparison, with a mere 3%. It made a difference when the Rockefeller family could control the process directly without government meddling.

Three generations of imbeciles are enough.’ Holmes, one of the most influential Supreme Court justices, was also one of its most outspoken racists. In 1922, the ageing Holmes wrote to British economist and Labour Partyleading figure, Harold J. Laski, ‘As I have said, no doubt often, it seems to me that all society rests on the death of men. Is not the present time an illustration of Malthus?’ The statement could have served as the guiding slogan of the Rockefeller Foundation eugenics efforts. [11]

This 1927 Supreme Court decision opened the floodgates for thousands of American citizens to be coercively sterilized or otherwise persecuted as subhuman. One Illinois mental hospital in Lincoln fed new patients milk from known tubercular cows, in the conviction that a genetically strong human specimen would be immune.[12] The State of California was the eugenics model state. Under its sweeping eugenics law, passed in 1909, all feebleminded or other mental patients were sterilized before discharge, and any criminal found guilty of any crime three times could be sterilized at the discretion of a consulting physician. California sterilized some 9,782 individuals, mostly women classified as ‘bad girls,’ many of whom had been forced into prostitution.[13]

Years later, the Nazis at the Nuremberg trials quoted Holmes’ words in their own defense. In the postwar world, not surprisingly, it was to no avail. The Rockefeller propaganda machine buried the reference; the victors defined the terms of peace and the truth of war.

‘Calling a spade a spade…’

The Rockefeller enthusiasm for eugenics during the 1920’s did not stop at America’s own shores. Rockefeller Foundation money played an instrumental role in financing German eugenics during the 1920’s. From 1922 to 1926, the Rockefeller Foundation donated through its Paris office a staggering $410,000 to a total of hundreds of German eugenics researchers. In 1926, it awarded an impressive $250,000 for the creation of the Berlin Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Psychiatry. That was the equivalent of some $26 millions in 2004 dollars, a sum especially unheard of in a Germany devastated by Weimar hyperinflation and economic depression. During the 1920’s, Rockefeller Foundation money dominated and steered German eugenics research.[14]

As American researcher Edwin Black and others later documented, the leading psychiatrist at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute at that time was Ernst Rüdin, a man who went on to a stellar career as the architect of Adolf Hitler’s systematic program of medical eugenics. The Rockefeller-financed Rüdin was named President of the world Eugenics Federation in 1932. Their platform was openly advocating the killing or sterilization of people whose heredity made them a ‘public burden.’

The Rockefeller Foundation largesse for German research was apparently unbounded in those days. In 1929, the year of the great Wall Street crash and extreme German economic crisis, Rockefeller gave a grant of $310,000 to the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Brain Research, one of several subsequent Rockefeller grants.

The multi-talented Rüdin was also head of brain research at that institute, where was employed Hermann J. Muller, an American eugenicist also funded with Rockefeller money. Later it was revealed that the institute received ‘brains in batches of 150-200’ from victims of the Nazi euthanasia program in Brandenburg. The brain research was directed towards the Nazi experiments on Jews, gypsies, the mentally handicapped and other ‘defectives.’ In 1931, the Rockefeller Foundation approved a further ten-year grant of a sizeable $89,000 to Rüdin’s Institute for Psychiatry to research links between blood, neurology and mental illness. Rockefeller money was funding eugenics in its purest form.[15]

Rüdin also led the Nazi program of forced eugenic sterilization, and was a prime architect of the 1933 Nazi Sterilization Law. Rudin and his staff, as part of the Task Force of Heredity Experts, chaired by SS chief Heinrich Himmler, drew up the sterilization law. Described as an ‘American Model’ law, it was adopted in July 1933 and proudly printed in the September 1933 Eugenical News (USA), with Hitler’s signature. Rüdin called for sterilizing all members of an unfit individual’s extended family. Rüdin was twice honoured by Adolf Hitler for his contribution to German eugenics and racial cleansing. Under his Sterilization Law, some 400,000 Germans were diagnosed as manic-depressive or schizophrenic and forcibly sterilized, and thousands of handicapped children were simply killed. Declaring racial hygiene a ‘spiritual movement,’ Rüdin and his associates found a willing collaborator in Adolf Hitler. ‘Only through [the Führer] did our dream of over thirty years, that of applying racial hygiene to society, become a reality,’ Rudin said.[16]

‘Foreshadowing the future work of the Population Council and the Rockefeller Foundation in population control,’ Osborn wrote, again in his Eugenics Review, ‘there is certainly a possibility that… pressures can be given a better direction (for birth control) and can be brought to bear on a majority of the population instead of a minority.’ And when such pressures are brought to bear, Osborn added, individuals will believe they are choosing on their own not to have children, ‘if family planning has spread to all members of the population and means of effective contraception are readily available.’ He wrote that some 13 years before the widespread introduction of the oral birth-control pill.[38]

Osborn went on to call for a system of what he termed, ‘unconscious voluntary selection.’ Ordinary people would be led down the path of eugenics and race culling without even being aware where they were going or what they were doing. Osborn argued that the way to convince people to exercise the ‘voluntary’ choice, would be to appeal to the idea of ‘wanted children.’ He said, ‘Let’s base our proposals on the desirability of having children born in homes where they will get affectionate and responsible care.’ In this way, he argued, the eugenics movement ‘will move at last towards the high goal which Galton set for it,’ namely creation of the master race, and reduction of inferior races. [39]

Publicly, Osborn appeared to purge eugenics in the postwar era of earlier racism. In reality he applied the racism far more efficiently to hundreds of millions of darker-skinned citizens of the Third World. Osborn also secretly held the office of President of the infamous white-supremacist Pioneer Fund from 1947-1956. Among other projects the Pioneer Fund ‘supported highly controversial research by a dozen scientists who believe that blacks are genetically less intelligent than whites,’ according to a December 11, 1977 article in the New York Times. [40]Endnote Among recipients of Pioneer Fund money was Stanford University Nobel laureate, William Shockley, who advocated forced sterilization of all persons with an IQ below 100. He got more than $1 million in research funds from Osborn’s Pioneer Fund. [41]

When Osborn wrote those words advocating ‘unconscious voluntary selection,’ he was still Secretary of the American Eugenics Society and President of John D. Rockefeller III’s newly-founded Population Council. JDR III was chairman and Princeton eugenicist, Frank Notestein, was board member, and later became President of Rockefeller’s Council.

Yes, Hello Dolly…

Member of the Rockefeller Foundation board and close family friend, Frederick Osborn was an unfettered enthusiast of the Rockefeller Foundation’s support for Nazi eugenics experiments. Scion of a wealthy American railroad family, graduated in 1910 from Princeton University, which would later be the school of John D. III, Osborn was a part of the wealthy American upper class. Under the banner of philanthropy, Osborn would pursue policies designed to preserve the hegemony and control of society by his wealthy associates.

Early Vote Counts Contradict Some Swing State Polls

In a number of swing states that will decide the presidential election, there’s now been enough early voting to give us a feel for who is turning out, and it doesn’t quite match the polling.

Here’s what we do know…

We know how many people requested mail-in ballots and what percentage of those requests came from Republicans, Democrats, and unaffiliated.

We know how many early votes have been counted and what percentage of those votes come from Republicans, Democrats, and unaffiliated.

We know that the conventional wisdom is that Democrats win the early voting and Republicans win Election Day voting. In other words, Democrats need to build a sizable early vote lead to beat the GOP on Election Day because Republicans prefer to vote in-person on Election Day.

What’s more, Democrats have been placing more emphasis on early voting this year than ever before. I’m not sure how wise that is, considering mail-in ballots are rejected at a much higher rate than in-person, but that’s the Democrat 2020 game plan.

Here’s what we don’t know…

We don’t know who specifically any of these people voted for. What I mean is, we don’t know who the unaffiliateds are voting for. We don’t know how many Democrats voted for Trump or how many Republicans voted for Biden.

With all those caveats in mind, let’s start with Texas.

According to the RealClearPolitics poll of polls, Trump is only up by 2.6 points in a state he won by nine points in 2016. Quinnipiac has the race all tied up at 47 percent. A Dallas Morning News poll released just today actually has Trump losing to Biden, 45 to 48 percent.

But look at the early voting in Texas. More than 6.7 million votes have been returned, an increase of 218 percent (that’s not a typo — 218 percent) over 2016, and 53 percent of those early votes come from Republicans, while only 37 percent come from Democrats and ten percent are unaffiliated.

Those are actual votes, which means only one of three things is possible… 1) the Texas polling is horribly wrong, 2) a ton of Republicans are voting for Biden, or 3) Democrats are going to defy what we know of their voting patterns and make this up on Election Day.

Now let’s look at Michigan…

According to the poll of polls, Trump is getting killed in Michigan by 7.8 points, a state he won by 0.3 points in 2016.

But look at the early voting in Michigan. Of the 3.1 million mail-in ballots requested, 41 percent of those requests came from Republicans and only 39 percent came from Democrats.

Of the two million ballots returned, the GOP still leads by two points, 41 to 39 percent. I should add that early voting returns are up 206 percent in Michigan compared to 2016.

Finally, let’s look at Ohio, where, in a state Trump won by 8.1 points, the pollsters are telling us the race between Biden and Trump is tied.

But look at the early voting numbers in Ohio. With 2.1 million ballots returned, Republicans are walloping Democrats 48 to 39 percent with 13 percent unaffiliated. Early vote returns in Ohio are up 123 percent over 2016.

In Florida, the early vote trends are starting to freak out the left-wing Politico, who sounded the alarm on Sunday.

‘People Will Die’ if They Spend Christmas Together, Says Disgraced Fmr UK Govt Scientist

The disgraced former British government scientist who was forced to leave his post after breaking his own lockdown rules has said that “people will die” if social distancing regulations are suspended, and families are allowed to spend Christmas day together.

With all parts of the United Kingdom under some form of social distancing rules which limits gatherings, media has reported that the public fears not being able to spend time with loved ones this Christmas.

Asked on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Saturday what would be the consequences of relaxing social distancing rules on December 25th, epidemiologist Professor Neil Ferguson said: “It risks some transmission, and there will be consequences of that.

“Some people will die because of getting infected on that day. But if it’s only one or two days, the impact is likely to be limited. So that is really a political judgement about the cost versus the benefits.”

Professor Ferguson, of Imperial College London, formerly consulted for the Conservative government on its coronavirus strategy and his modelling was instrumental in the design of the United Kingdom’s March coronavirus lockdown. He resigned his role as senior scientific advisor to the government in May after he was caught twice allowing his married lover to come to his home despite her being in quarantine with her family, breaking the professor’s own lockdown rules.

While British police were overzealously investigating the average Briton for perceived infringement of lockdown laws, London’s Metropolitan Police Service said it would not be charging the epidemiologist, only saying that it saw the incident as “disappointing”.

A 104-year-old great-grandmother’s plea to be allowed to see her family went viral on social media this week after she begged the Scottish government: “I must see my kids. Time’s getting on for me. I must see my children and make things like they used to be. Please help me, help me. Please, please help.”

Another Yorkshire grandmother was blunt in her criticism of the government’s strategy, telling the BBC: “I’m 83. I don’t give a sod. I look at it this way: I’ve not got all that many years left of me, and I’m not going to be fastened in a house when the government have got it all wrong.”

Sweden has taken an alternative approach to dealing with the pandemic by avoiding imposed lockdowns. While the rest of Europe is reimposing restrictions, Sweden announced on Thursday that it would be allowing seniors and those in other “special risk groups” to come out of social distancing measures, citing lower coronavirus infection rates and the impact on mental health.

“Daily life cannot be as it was before the pandemic,” Swedish health minister Lena Hallengren said, however, added: “But there are many ways of living that are not just surviving.”

The British government’s restrictions have come under growing scrutiny with dozens of reports pointing to excess deaths and medical conditions going untreated because of restricted access to the National Health Service.

100 Migrants Arrested in 30 Hours in Texas near Border

Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents arrested more than 100 migrants in a 30-hour period last week. The human smuggling incidents included the packing of migrants into stash houses and vehicles.

Between October 21 and 22, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo Sector area of operation disrupted multiple human smuggling operations. The interdictions led to the arrest of more than 100 in the 30-hour timeframe, according to Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials.

Officials report the apprehension of the migrants in multiple stash house operations, vehicle stops, interior immigration checkpoints, train check operations, brush cases, and vehicle bailouts.

In total, the agents apprehended 106 migrants from multiple countries including Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico, officials reported.

The recklessness of many of these events highlight the lack of regard human smugglers have for the safety and wellbeing of the people they exploit for profit. In the stash house and load vehicle cases, people were crammed into small confined spaces in large groups without any personal protective equipment, exposing them to the potential spread of COVID-19 infection.

In many of the load vehicles encountered, failures to yield followed by bailouts were commonplace. In these stops, people were found piled on top of one another in attempts to conceal them in the vehicles. One such vehicle was stopped on U.S. Highway 83, north of San Ygnacio, Texas.

Agents discovered 16 individuals packed so tightly that some at the bottom of the pile were having difficulty breathing. They immediately asked for assistance due to the high temperatures in the vehicle and lack of water.

“We continue to see smugglers put the lives of illegal aliens at risk, whether it be through the use of commercial vehicles, freight trains, or other dangerous conveyances,” Laredo Sector Chief Patrol Agent Matthew Hukak said in a written statement. “Our agents have seen aliens sustain major traumatic injuries from trains. I hope smugglers and aliens recognize how dangerous this is before someone loses their life or is severely injured.”

Economies of Mideast & Central Asia may not fully recover from coronavirus for at least a decade – IMF

The Covid-19 pandemic may inflict deeper economic pain for countries of the Middle East and Central Asia than previous recessions, the International Monetary Fund has warned.

In its latest regional outlook report published earlier this week, the IMF revised downwards its forecast for economic recovery in the Middle East and Central Asia. According to new data, the regions are set to face a 4.1 percent contraction this year – 1.3 percentage points worse than the body projected in April.

Both oil-exporting countries, whose revenues rely on energy sales, and oil importers, which saw a dramatic decline in service and tourism sectors, will feel the economic impact from the Covid-19 outbreak, according to the report. However, energy producing countries are projected to be hit harder as they face a “double-whammy” of the economic impact of lockdowns and the resulting sharp decline in oil demand and prices.

FIVE of Mike Pence's aides test positive for COVID: VP's chief of staff, his senior political advisor and three more of his staff members get infected

Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff, senior political adviser and three other members of staff have tested positive for coronavirus, according to reports.

Chief of staff Marc Short's diagnosis was first reported on Saturday night by Bloomberg - the outlet that broke the news of Hope Hicks' infection on September 29.

Short's infection was then confirmed by Pence's office - with the fact that the White House did not announce the news raising eyebrows.

On Saturday night the New York Times reported that two people briefed on the matter said that the White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, had sought to keep news of the outbreak from becoming public.

'Today, Marc Short, Chief of Staff to the Vice President, tested positive for COVID-19, began quarantine and assisting in the contact tracing process,' said Devin O'Malley, Pence's press secretary.

'Vice President Pence and Mrs Pence both tested negative for COVID-19 today, and remain in good health.

'While Vice President Pence is considered a close contact with Mr Short, in consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel.'

On Saturday Pence held two campaign rallies in Florida - one in Tallahassee, and another in Jacksonville.

Short, 50, did not travel with Pence.

On Sunday Pence will be in Kinston, North Carolina, for a MAGA event in the evening.

Senior political advisor Marty Obst tested positive on Wednesday, Bloomberg reported. Two sources confirmed Obst's test to CNN.

Obst is an outside adviser and not a government employee, and his infection has not been officially confirmed.

Searches for “can I change my vote” surged on Sunday evening following the bombshell sex tape and email leaks from Hunter Biden’s laptop, including in the crucial swing state Pennsylvania.

While Google Trends does not provide the exact number of searches, they index them on a scale of 1-100 based on the number of searches above the average.

When looking at interest by region, Utah, Idaho and Pennsylvania had the most searches, respectively, followed by New Mexico, Michigan, Arizona, Missouri, Nevada, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Interest in people changing their votes surged just before 11 p.m., as Hunter Biden’s laptop contents began to go viral. They included sex tapes, elicit photos, footage of him smoking crack with what appears to be prostitutes, and more.

There were also emails that appear to point to corruption with his father, Joe Biden, and an effort by Hunter Biden to avoid having to register as a foreign agent for his dealings with China.

Searches about changing votes also surged following the final presidential debate, when Biden said that he would seek to eliminate the oil industry as president.

Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, and Mississippi do allow voters to change their votes after early voting.

Wisconsin: voters who voted early in person can recast their ballot as long as they do so by Saturday, October 31st. The deadline for absentee varies by city. People who wish to change their vote should contact their city clerk for more information.

Minnesota: absentee voters can change their votes up to a week before the election.

Michigan: absentee voters can change their ballots if they have not yet been processed and tabulated. Those who wish to change their ballot should contact their city clerk within a few days of the election.

He Was Convicted of War Crimes and Pardoned by Trump. Now He Wants to Reform Military Justice

Former Army 1st Lt. Clint Lorance has a new mission: To become a lawyer and press for reform of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, under which he was convicted of war crimes in Afghanistan.

Lorance said he is driven by the "leave no man behind" credo he learned in boot camp in seeking to help others caught up in the military justice system, which he claims wrongly sent him to prison on charges of ordering his platoon to open fire on three unarmed Afghans, killing two.

"If I had gone over there and made the decision that I was going to fight the war on my own terms and just do whatever I want, I should still be there in jail if that's what I did," Lorance said in a lengthy interview with Military.com.

"But that's not what I did. Every single thing I did was for the good of this country and to try and do my job to the best of my ability," he said. "I was just so in over my head once they brought charges and everything."

Nine members of his platoon testified in a general court-martial that Lorance was an arrogant and inexperienced leader who panicked and recklessly gave the order to shoot Afghans who posed no immediate threat.

"I didn't really have a chance to defend myself" against charges that he knowingly violated the rules of engagement, meant to prevent civilian casualties; lied about his actions; and was guilty of premeditated murder, Lorance maintains.

"One of the things that frustrates me more than anything, and it continues to frustrate me to this day, is that people think I changed the rules [of engagement] arbitrarily, or that I changed the rules – period," he said. "And, you know, that could not be further from the truth."

The legal and ethical challenges he will have to overcome to realize his dream of becoming a lawyer are formidable, despite a pardon from President Donald Trump last November that let him out of the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, after serving six years of a 19-year sentence.

Lorance is now taking classes at the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia – although he said the dean has told him he has little chance of ever being admitted to the bar with a conviction on his record.

He also is promoting his just-released book, "Stolen Honor: Falsely Accused, Imprisoned, and My Long Road to Freedom."

The book's blurb calls it the "captivating account of how Clint Lorance, a soldier who became a scapegoat for a corrupt military hierarchy, was falsely charged with war crimes, imprisoned, and eventually pardoned by President Trump."

The book echoes Trump's defense of his pardons of Lorance and others in the military as a counter to "deep state" bureaucrats throughout the government who follow their own agendas rather than the law.

But Lorance said he takes a more nuanced view.

Putin says US presence in Afghanistan good for security

According to Putin, the Americans share data on anti-terror with their Russian colleagues

MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the continued presence of American troops in Afghanistan is beneficial for overall security.

"Initially, we backed US forces’ presence in Afghanistan and earlier voted in favor of a respective UN Security Council resolution. I still believe that US presence in Afghanistan does not run counter to our external interests," Putin said in an interview with "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" program on Rossiya-1 TV channel.

"On the contrary, when it was announced that the Americans are preparing to withdraw their military contingent - yes, our official position is that maybe this creates additional conditions for a kind of Afghan reconciliation - but I personally think that this creates many risks," Putin said.

"First, we will have to spend more to maintain stability and second, no matter what, still US presence in Afghanistan contributes to stability in the country and their exit creates risks," the Russian leader explained. "We don’t have to fight against the Americans’ presence there."

Putin noted that the two countries’ special services continued working in this direction. "We are cooperating with the US despite numerous contradictions on a lot of areas, still cooperation at the level of special services is underway," he said. In particular, this is cooperation on de-conflicting in Syria and a very good working contact was established at the operational level and at the level of military units’ chiefs.

According to Putin, the Americans share data on anti-terror with their Russian colleagues. "We view the Americans’ effort in Afghanistan as an anti-terrorist effort," Putin stressed.

"They hand over and repeatedly handed over [data] to us. "In our turn, we are trying to do the same and we have such an agreement with the incumbent US president that if this information emerges, we will share it and help each other.".

Mail-in ballots: the US elites’ ‘plausible deniability’ ploy to retain power

The US obsession with mail-in voting is incomprehensible to the rest of the world, but the true reason behind this nonsense is never openly admitted: Mail-in balloting has been a way to ensure that the elites of both parties can contest the election if they lose, thus giving them a way to deny ultimate responsibility for their loss via presenting a way to question the integrity of the election.

Of course this phony debate should be incomprehensible – there have already been dozens of major elections worldwide in 2020 already. The data available to the US is clear: safe in-person voting is easily assurable despite the minor challenges. There has been no correlation between elections and a post-Covid spike, and some elections have even been able to increase voter turnout despite the pandemic.

Therefore, the hysteria which swept the United States in March is not at all logically supportable in October: the need for mail-in ballots, much like the alleged mortality rate of Covid-19, was wildly overstated back then.

Yet the horse is out of the barn: nearly 40% of the US electorate (going by 2016 totals) has already voted early, and this will have a catastrophic effect on the United States because it seemingly guarantees that they will have a disputed election.

To be concise: nobody should expect a declared victor on the night of November 3rd because of the difficulty in counting all these slow-arriving and even late-arriving mail-in ballots, which are already tainted with dispute anyway. Furthermore, we should expect perhaps 1 million ballots to be thrown out for errors, which will obviously create further disputes – mail-in ballots will be an update of the “hanging chads” from 2000’s disputed election.

This is on top of the reality that the US general election is merely a statistical fun fact, anyway, as they vote for their president indirectly via an electoral college: look at five of the eight key “swing” states and polls show the lead of either Donald Trump or Joe Biden is 3 points or less, which is within the margin for error. Furthermore, US pollsters have also likely not solved the “hidden/shy” Trump voter issue, making polls perhaps as unreliable as 2016’s polls obviously were.

Given the certainty of this already equally-divided electorate, increasing the logistical challenges posed by mail-in voting, which will only increase the number of spoiled ballots, made no sense.

But that’s true only if we analyse it from a perspective which gives primacy to the average American citizen – it made perfect sense if we look at mail-in balloting from the point of view of the very elite of Washington’s most-privileged politicians.
