Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot says the strict restrictions put forth recently in her city are partly for private homes too because people are getting too “comfortable.”

In a Monday morning interview with CNN’s ‘New Day’, Lightfoot said the lockdown procedures in her city meant to discourage social gatherings should extend to people’s homes too.

“It’s not just what you do outside of your home, it’s also what you do inside your home, and making sure that you don’t invite people in that are not part of your immediate family,” she said when defending the controversial 10pm curfew for non-essential businesses. Other lockdown restrictions put in place this week include limiting public gatherings to six people, banning alcohol sales past 9pm, banning bars without food licenses from conducting indoor business, and requiring face coverings in all public settings.

Minnesota Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis was rushed into emergency surgery Monday for a severe internal hernia just eight days before the election, his campaign announced.

The condition is life-threatening if not treated quickly, the campaign said in a statement.

Lewis, a one-term former congressman best known to Minnesota voters from his days as a conservative talk radio host, is challenging incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Tina Smith.

Campaign manager Tom Szymanski said in the statement that Lewis experienced severe abdominal pain early Monday morning and was taken to an emergency room.

“Prior to being taken to the operating room, Jason was in good spirits, optimistic, and true to form, he was speculating about when he could resume campaigning, eager to continue fighting for his fellow Minnesotans,” Szymanski said.

He said the campaign would release further information as it became available.

According to the individual - who asked local media not to identify them over fears of retribution - Ms Turner told them that they would kidnap Mr DeWine, try him for several alleged crimes, and then sentence him to exile or execution.

Ms Turner spoke to Cleveland.com and confirmed that she did have a phone conversation about placing Mr DeWine under house arrest, but said she never had any specific discussions beyond that. She called the whistleblower a "dingbat."
