Yulia Baskakova

 

International Projects Director Yulia Baskakova, Ph.D., manages all aspects of Langer Research Associates’ international practice, vetting and managing local field work vendors and ensuring high-quality data delivery to end clients. Recent projects include her direction of our coordinating vendor role in a Pew Research Center survey in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain and the United Kingdom. In addition to her international management duties, Baskakova co-leads our international business development and manages and analyzes domestic surveys.

 

Baskakova joined Langer Research after a 10-year career at the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM), where she served as one of five practice directors, leading hundreds of research projects in Russia, Armenia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldavia, South Korea, Tajikistan, Transnistria, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. She developed company standards for CATI, CAPI and exit polls and launched Russia’s first daily tracking poll. Her analyses of VCIOM projects were widely quoted by Russian and international media outlets, and she was thrice honored as VCIOM employee of the year.

Baskakova also has served as an associate professor of sociology and political science and a senior research fellow at the Russian Academy of Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Saratov State University and a post-doctoral Diploma as Specialist in International Relations, summa cum laude, from the Diplomatic Academy of Russia. She attended advanced professional training at the London School of Economics and Political Science in Qualitative Research Methods and Statistical Methods for Social Research.

 

Baskakova has written or co-written 16 books or book chapters and 30 peer-reviewed articles in scholarly journals, and has given dozens of presentations and invited lectures to professional research associations across the world. She’s an active member of the World Association for Public Opinion Research and the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
