Tbh I was just taking "up" on google maps as north.. not exactly scientific I know. I was just going by the old saying - rises in the east, sets in the west. Also tricky to tell exactly which side, looks to be setting on the left side of CH, somewhere behind the Old War Office Building at a guess and taken from the top of the steps of the bridge.

Can check sunrise/set at suncalc - slider at the top. Link is st as Mar 20 2014, I don't know about all of the moon phases etc.
