Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir stated on Tuesday that Doha must pay the price for the presence of American troops in Syria.

 

He remarked in this regard that the withdrawal of American troops from Qatar would lead to the collapse of the Doha regime “within days.”

 

The minister made his statements in wake of a press conference held between US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House earlier on Tuesday.

 

Qatar must deploy its forces in Syria “before Trump lifts American protection off Doha,” Jubeir continued.

 

The US military air base of Al-Udeid in Qatar lies southwest of Doha.
