A self-described "real Indian" who is running against Mass. Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren is suing after city officials demanded he take down his signs calling her a "fake Indian.” The upstart independent Senate challenger, Shiva Ayyadurai, on Sunday filed a federal lawsuit alleging that the demand from the city of Cambridge violates his constitutional free speech rights, according to The Washington Times.

 

Since March 17, Ayyadurai's campaign bus has sported two identical signs picturing himself and a rendition of Warren wearing Indian attire. Emblazoned next to the images are the words: "Only a REAL INDIAN Can Defeat the Fake Indian."

 

The bus has reportedly been stationed in a parking lot in front of an office building owned by Ayyadurai, who faces exceptionally long odds, for more than a month – just a mile from Warren's home.

 

Earlier this month, the campaign received a notice from Cambridge building inspector Branden Vigneault that the signs lacked the appropriate "approvals and permits," according to local reports and the Ayyadurai campaign.

Warren has long been accused of saying she is of Native American heritage to help in securing jobs, including one as a Harvard law professor.

 

President Trump has repeatedly called Warren, a Wall Street critic and potential White House rival, “Pocahontas,” a notable American Indian woman in colonial history, to highlight the controversy. Warren has said she ruled out challenging Trump in 2020.

Trump threatens to scrap 'ridiculous' Iran deal in meeting with Macron

 

President Trump warned Tuesday that Iran will face "bigger problems" if it resumes its nuclear weapons program, and said the nuclear agreement with Tehran fails to sufficiently monitor the regime's activities outside of its borders.

 

"If they restart their nuclear program, they will have bigger problems than they ever had before," Trump told reporters, adding that the agreement "should never have been made."

 

He made his comments during a sit-down with French President Emmanuel Macron, who has sought to convince Trump to preserve the agreement while working with the United States' European partners to amend it.

 

"The Iran deal is an important issue but we have to take a far broader picture which is security in the overall region," Macron said to reporters in the Oval Office. "What we want to do is contain Iran and its presence in the region."

 

Trump interjected to offer a harsher take on the nuclear agreement, which was negotiated by the Obama administration and could be dismantled after May 12, if he chooses to walk away from it.

 

"It just seems no matter where you go, especially in the Middle East, Iran is behind it, wherever there's trouble — Yemen, Syria, no matter where you have it — Iran is behind it," he said. "We're not going to allow certain things to happen that are happening."

 

But the president said he is willing to work with Macron to strike a deal that would keep the U.S. in the nuclear deal, pending certain modifications to the agreement.

 

"We're looking forward to doing something but it has to be done and it has to be done strongly," Trump said, declining to provide further details. "We're fairly close to understanding each other. Our one-on-one went very well."

 

Trump also dismissed suggestions that Iran could easily resume its nuclear program if the U.S. withdraws from the agreement.

 

"It won't be easy for them to restart it. They're not going to be restarting anything," he said.

I spent a few years witnessing to homeless people. I found out the Red Cross and most of the homeless programs in Florida were scams. Most of them charged a fee but they were one of the few that pushed "money upfront". It is $63 per week or $10 per day. You can stay free 3 days in a lifetime. The bell ringers have to make a certain amount per night or they pull them off the buckets. You were trained to target women with kids and older people. After the Christmas season if you did well, you may be invited into their one or two year program. You could stay for free whether or not you were employed or in school. You had to bring in close to $1500 a day for that.

 

Another program in another place housed disabled people leaving hospitals without a place to go. They helped them file for disability then charged them $600 per month to stay there. If you were turned down you had to have a partime job within 30 days and the equivalent of a full time job after 90. The state paid for 45 days and fed paid for 45 while you were there. For able body people, you had to stay in their program for two weeks so they would get the money for the first 45, then you had 30 days to get a partime job. What should have been a 90 program worked out to a month and a half and they were paid for residents they had already kicked out.

 

The last part of the scam was the hotels. They received money to house low income of "indigent" people. They take money to house people that aren't there, or they still charge them for being there. Also, shelters, churches, or other places, can give out vouchers for hotels.

 

What I put together is, any person can show up at a shelter, be told there is no room, get a voucher for a hotel, and disappear.

I am not a fan of Abramic religions. I do respect traditions but I strongly feel the West should rediscover their pageant heritage. A mass grave containing around 50 bodies has been uncovered in the northern Syrian city of Raqqah which was held by the Daesh terror group and regarded as its so-called capital.

 

The graves located under a football pitch close to a hospital in the city contained bodies of both civilians and Daesh terrorists, AFP quoted Abdallah al-Eriane, a senior official with Raqqah Civil Council, as saying on Saturday.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Saturday one of its employees had been killed in a shooting in the Yemeni city of Taiz, according to a Reuters reports.

Yemeni officials and the ICRC named the man as Hanna Lahoud, a Lebanese national, who was killed in Taiz in southwestern Yemen by unknown gunmen who opened fire on a car.

 

Lahoud was in charge of the ICRC’s detention programme in Yemen, the ICRC said in a statement. He was on his way to visit a prison this morning when he was attacked on the outskirts of Taiz, the statement said. He was taken to hospital and died from his injuries.

 

A Saudi-led military coalition intervened in Yemen in 2015, backing government forces fighting Iran-allied Houthi rebels.

 

Iran has denied supplying weapons to the Houthis. The war has killed more than 10,000 people, displaced more than two million and driven the country to the verge of famine.

Administrator Scott Pruitt first announced his ban on “secret science” in a March interview with The DCNF. Pruitt will unveil the new policy on Tuesday in the form of a proposed rule, which, if finalized, will make it harder for future administrations to repeal.

 

“We need to make sure their data and methodology are published as part of the record,” Pruitt told TheDCNF in March. “Otherwise, it’s not transparent. It’s not objectively measured, and that’s important.”

 

Pruitt’s proposed rule would apply prospectively to future regulatory actions, TheDCNF has learned, but EPA officials could link the data transparency rule with President Donald Trump’s executive order on regulations issued in 2017.

 

Once finalized, regulations put under review will have the transparency standard applied. That means EPA officials will take a close look at studies and regulatory assessments underlying existing rules, especially those imposed in the Obama years.

 

Democrats and environmentalists opposed Pruitt’s data transparency plan. Opponents argue the policy would restrict the amount of studies EPA can rely on to craft regulations and could expose legally protected patient health data.

 

“He and some conservative members of Congress are setting up a nonexistent problem in order to prevent the EPA from using the best available science,” former Obama EPA administrators Gina McCarthy and Janet McCabe wrote in a New York Times op-ed.

People have this perception that fed gov agencies/departments are free to do whatever they want. They can't. A major problem we have inside the gov is most civilian employees are risk adverse and are/have weak supervisors. When wrongdoing occurs, they don't want to hold the culprits accountable unless they're forced or it rises to the level where they have no choice.

 

NSA falls under DoD. So, DoD and Congress constantly oversee them. One of Congress' primary jobs is conducting oversight of the entire Executive Branch. Every day they should be a PITA looking for wrongdoing, wasteful spending, or other problems. Their GAO is feared because they're really good.

 

The Executive Branch is way too big for the overseers to catch everything. IMO we either need shrink it down to a more managable size or hire competent veterans into supervisory positions. Good managers can keep everything running properly while poor ones almost never do.
