True story - a guy in my old apartment building had a wall phone that he replaced the wall receptacle plug with 4 alligator clips. To call his long distance ladies, he'd go down into the basement crawlspace and clip into someone else's phone line at the junction box. I caught him doing it, so he promised never to do it to my line.
He also got me free cable using a similar method.
